Yang Jingwei’s assistant shook her head as she looked at the old man.
"This is what I should do, as the old man trained ."
The old man was very satisfied with her answer.
He nodded, "Very good, where is the item?"
The assistant took out a briefcase from behind her.
"Inside here is the computer Bai Zhengxian stored in a safe deposit box at a foreign bank, containing many secrets of the elites in Jing City."
"Yang Jingwei used this to force Gong Yao into cooperation, using the Gong Family’s private plane to transport goods for her."
"But Yang Jingwei still remains cautious around ; every ti she opens the case, she doesn’t allow to be present, and she checks the room for surveillance devices, so I don’t know the case’s password."
The old man looked at the briefcase and smiled.
"You don’t need to know, because I do."
"..."
The assistant froze, staring blankly at the old man.
The old man squinted his eyes, "Are you wondering how I could know?"
The assistant nodded.
The old man seed in a good mood, so he spoke a little more.
"Do you really think Yang Jingwei only wants to win over Gong Yao?"
The assistant realized what was going on.
It turns out Yang Jingwei was currying favor with both the old man and Gong Yao.
She must have learned the password from Bai Zhengxian long ago.
But she didn’t know where Bai Zhengxian stored the computer.
So she told the old man about the password.
To ensure her position in Jing City.
Of course, she wasn’t willing to remain in a subordinate position, so she intended to use the sa thod to eliminate the old man through Gong Yao.
At that point, all she needed was to eliminate the unsuspecting Gong Yao.
The assistant’s face turned even paler.
None of the people involved in this struggle are innocent.
Once you’re in, there’s no turning back, no one gets to quit halfway.
The old man, seeing her stunned, ignored her.
He motioned for the butler to bring the case to him.
He touched the case and chuckled softly.
"Without any effort, it still ended up in my hands."
After entering the password,
with a snap, the case popped open.
The old man eagerly opened the case, but after seeing the contents, he was dumbfounded for a long ti.
The case contained nothing but a thick stack of white paper.
"How can this be?"
"What is this?"
The old man placed the case in front of the assistant.
The assistant looked at the white paper on the ground, pursed her lips and remained silent.
"Speak! Where’s the computer?"
"Seize her!"
Just as the butler was about to step forward, the door swung open.
Gong Chen walked in with Lin Zhiyi.
He glanced at the white paper on the ground, "No computer?"
At the ntion of the word "computer,"
the old man’s eyes widened instantly, staring at Gong Chen.
"It’s you! You took the computer!"
"Yes, it’s ."
Gong Chen admitted directly.
Even Lin Zhiyi was a bit surprised.
How could Gong Chen know about Yang Jingwei’s computer and password?
The next second, Yang Jingwei’s assistant wheeled her wheelchair, retreating behind Gong Chen.
Lin Zhiyi’s mouth couldn’t help but gape open.
This...when did this happen?
The old man obviously hadn’t noticed it either.
He was furious, "You actually dared to betray !"
The assistant calmly said, "You didn’t let escape in public because you wanted to help , but because you wanted to die by suicide out of guilt, right? After all, as Yang Jingwei’s assistant, it would be normal to commit suicide when severely injured and desperate."
She had said it; it’s hard to escape once you’re involved.
So when Gong Chen saw through her identity and found her, she imdiately chose to cooperate.
From the mont the old man said he had long seen through Yang Jingwei and Gong Yao’s plan, she knew she was dood.
Fortunately, she had already sided with Gong Chen.
Redeeming herself by being an informant for the police.
The old man took a deep breath, unable to understand when his plan got exposed.
"When did you find out?"
Lin Zhiyi looked up at Gong Chen, also curious.
Gong Chen said blandly, "When you let Gong Yao and Yang Jingwei get so close privately, I beca suspicious, because with your suspicious nature, you wouldn’t let Gong Yao collaborate with Yang Jingwei, even if you favored him."
"Later, when you replaced your dical team and allowed Fu Xiuzhu’s lover into the Gong Family, I was even more certain."
"I said you were suspicious by nature, and wouldn’t change doctors at Gong Yao’s request if you knew about his overly close relationship with Yang Jingwei."
"Not only that, I had Zhiyi swap out your dication, which only had half the effect of heart disease dicine, but Zhiyi said you seed fully recovered after taking them."
"Given these clues, I played along. You also wanted to use to eliminate Gong Yao, right?"
"An incompetent son doesn’t deserve the family na Gong, and not to ntion, Fu Xiuzhu has already betrayed you."
After he finished speaking, the room fell into an eerie silence.
Lin Zhiyi looked between the old man and Gong Chen.
She thought she was clever, yet she remained a pawn on the chessboard.
It was truly infuriating.
Gong Chen had kept her in the dark yet again.
However, she understood; had she known everything beforehand, the old man might have noticed when she switched his dication.
She was probably so tense that the old man believed his plan was going smoothly.
With that thought, Lin Zhiyi turned her gaze to the old man.
"You... you deliberately let see the red-labeled dicine in Fu Xiuzhu’s bag! If sothing happened to Yang Jingwei afterward, I could testify it was Fu Xiuzhu and Gong Yao who hard her, eliminating the disobedient son and Yang Jingwei in one fell swoop."
All of them were busy being busy, only serving the old man’s interests in the end.
The old man let out a hearty laugh.
"I don’t know what you’re talking about; after all, I was indeed poisoned, and I truly just got out of danger."
"..."
Lin Zhiyi gritted her teeth.
That expression of indifference, how infuriating.
Is he truly unstoppable?
Just as Lin Zhiyi felt helpless, Gong Chen handed a docunt to the old man.
"This is your health examination report, done by your lover’s lover. It shows you are no longer fit to be in charge."
The old man opened the docunt, seeing the diagnosis results.
He angrily slamd the report, "He’s lying! I’m not that severely ill!"
"Perhaps, but Albert is an authority on cardiac issues; his diagnosis is persuasive. Furthermore, since you took that dication several tis to gain Gong Yao and Yang Jingwei’s trust, it’s normal your health has worsened," Gong Chen explained.
"No! I’m in good health!" the old man insisted.
"But you just admitted you were poisoned, so your words no longer hold weight. Do you think the company people will still support you?" Gong Chen retorted.
The old man froze.
Gong Chen looked down at him, his gaze cold and rciless.
The trap was the old man’s own making; in the end, he himself was the one trapped.
As he ages, his health will only deteriorate further, diminishing his credibility.
Gong Chen stated expressionlessly, "If I were you, I’d imdiately cut ties with Gong Yao and send Yang Jingwei in, then enjoy a peaceful retirent."
The old man’s face tightened, turning grayish-white.
