After receiving Minato Namikaze's order, the gatekeeper ninja dared not hesitate and rushed toward the Anbu dormitory as fast as he could.

As a ninja of Konoha, he knew where the Anbu headquarters was.

However...

When he finally reached the Anbu dormitory, an inexplicable, eerie chill seed to envelop the area as though countless restless souls lingered within.

The sensation was undeniable.

It wasn't a hallucination.

This gatekeeper ninja was no weakling. He was pretty skilled, especially in reading people's expressions.

This ability was why he could effectively guard Konoha's gates, detecting whether newcors bore ill intentions or were rely seeking entry into the village.

His sharp instincts had helped him avert many crises.

But now...

Standing before the Anbu dormitory—a place he had never been—he felt like a beast lurking in the shadows.

"So terrifying..."

The gatekeeper ninja gasped, suddenly afraid to step inside.

Though the exterior seed ordinary, the oppressive aura felt tangible, almost suffocating.

It was as if this place had witnessed many deaths.

In truth, he could understand this, considering that those in the Anbu were either people with blood on their hands or those destined to die soon.

Ordinary people had no reason to co to the Anbu.

Every Anbu ninja, after all, was known to be ruthless.

As these thoughts swirled in his mind, his anxiety deepened. Unlike the usual hustle and bustle when the Anbu was full of ninjas, only one was left today—Aoba. The other notable Anbu ninja, Morino Ibiki, had been promoted, and even before that, Ibiki rarely stayed in the dormitories. The Anbu dormitory was ant only for active mbers.

In other words...

The Anbu dormitory was now ho to a single ninja—Aoba—who lived in this vast, dark, and eerily silent place, which seed haunted by countless restless spirits.

The re thought of this made the gatekeeper ninja's skin crawl. He couldn't comprehend how soone like Aoba could muster the courage to live in such an environnt.

But there was no denying it...

In this chilling atmosphere, he was genuinely terrified.

Unlike other ninjas, he wasn't scared of people. If he had arrived at the Anbu dormitory when it was full of ninjas, even with the scent of blood and the occasional distant screams, he could have handled it.

But now, in the empty, dark dormitory, there was only one person: the Anbu ninja nad Aoba.

This made the situation unbearable for him.

He couldn't quite describe how unsettling this was.

The entire Anbu headquarters was eerily quiet, save for the overwhelming sll of blood. The more silent it was, the more anxious he beca.

In any other place, he might not have felt so unnerved.

But the Anbu headquarters was far too terrifying.

His fear intensified as he stepped into the pitch-black hallway of the dormitory. He could hear faint water droplets echoing in the silence, their typically subtle sound amplified in this eerie environnt, further fraying his nerves.

As he advanced, his fear only grew.

The closer he got to Aoba's dorm, the more he sensed an ominous presence. He couldn't tell if it was Aoba's aura or the lingering energy of past events, but the atmosphere made him increasingly uncomfortable.

Each ti he mustered the courage to approach, he would turn back, only to try again and retreat again. The dark hallway seed like the gaping maw of a giant beast, ready to swallow him into an abyss.

His heart raced with fear and indecision.

Creak...

Suddenly, the sound of a door opening pierced the silence.

The noise was startlingly loud in the dormitory's deathly quiet, instantly sending a shockwave of fear through the gatekeeper ninja.

And then...

In the darkness, a figure appeared.

His hair stood on end.

"A... Aoba?" the gatekeeper ninja stamred, testing the waters. He knew there was only one person here—Aoba. But he couldn't fathom how soone could live alone in such a massive, eerie place.

"Is that you?" he asked, his voice trembling. His greatest fear was hearing a voice other than Aoba's.

Holding his breath and tensing every muscle, he clenched his fists in anticipation, ready to react if sothing unexpected happened. If he didn't get a response, or worse, if he heard the wrong na, he knew he would be completely overwheld with fear.

"???"

Having just stepped out of his room, Aoba looked at the terrified ninja standing in the hallway. The man's face was pale as if he had seen a ghost, prompting a wave of questions in Aoba's mind.

"Am I really that scary?"
