"What the—" Alia stopped herself just in ti when Alpha Killian held her shoulders to stabilize her and prevent her from falling.

"Were you going to curse ?" Killian asked with raised brows.

If it had been earlier, he would’ve surely snapped at her. Then again, Alia wouldn’t have cursed at him either.

Instead, she would’ve thanked him non-stop for saving her from falling.

But after that ditch incident, everything has changed.

Killian observed the girl, who wasn’t soft-spoken anymore. She now had a sharp tongue that she didn’t shy away from using recklessly.

This wasn’t the sa girl who used to smile at him all the ti, stand in the rain, kneel to appease them, and sing her love to him. She wasn’t the sa, and he was starting to feel it in his bones now.

But then again, was love so easy to forget? She loved him so much. Though she was pretending to be a tough nut, he was sure that deep down, she still had feelings for him, and if he gave her a little affection, she would co tumbling at his feet again.

The thought alone made Killian smile.

"Why were you running? Is soone harassing you?" Killian changed the topic and looked behind her.

Alia didn’t want to interact with him, not after the morning. He was really a dim-wit. He couldn’t differentiate right from wrong, even when everything happened before him.

At this mont, she was even starting to question herself as to why the hell did she fall in love with him in the first place.

Was he even capable of being an Alpha? Nepotism really ruined many packs and leaders. Alia wondered.

When Alia didn’t answer him, and he didn’t see anyone in the corridor, he sighed.

"Can we talk?" he asked patiently.

He rembered promising Hannah that he would persuade Alia to return to the West healer’s territory so she could take care of her like she wanted.

"I am getting late for class," Alia said. She was about to walk away when Killian held her hand to stop her.

"Listen," Killian started, but Alia jerked her hand as if she were touched by filth, her hateful expression leaving him frozen.

"Don’t touch , Alpha Killian. As an Alpha, you should know your limits," Alia glared at the man like he was not the sa man she used to roam around but soone despicable before she walked away.

Killian looked at the back of the girl, shocked at her words, and was about to follow her to ask what she ant by those words. He couldn’t accept that the sa girl who used to roam around him was leaving just like that.

"Are you sure, Alia? Don’t co running to later saying you did wrong, and you wanted to go to the carnival with ," Killian said.

Alia paused in her steps.

Right. How could she forget that the carnival was arriving?

Every year, she would literally beg Alpha Killian to go to the carnival with her as a couple. She would start preparing gifts and cook delicious als to persuade him.

Alia used to do all this, and Hannah used to tag along and gain all his attention while she beca their little luggage carrier.

It was her duty to carry all the fluffy things Killian would win to show off and later give to Hannah because she deserved that.

Alia scoffed, catching Killian’s attention as she shook her head.

"What’s funny?" he asked, feeling offended.

"Who wants to go to the carnival with you? Do you think I want to spend my life hovering around you? What did I ever get in return, Alpha Killian? You made my sister’s maid and treated worse than an enslaved person," Alia stepped forward, looking him straight in the eyes.

"Since you know I used to beg you, you must know what kind of patience and humility it takes to love soone like that. Do you think it’s my loss even after I got a better man?" She asked.

Her tone had a hint of mockery, not for him but for herself.

She needed to remind herself how despicable her previous self was, too.

Pretending before Hannah was essential to keep herself off her radar until she understood her ga. On the other hand, Killian was just a useless pawn for her.

Hannah used him, and he followed her boundlessly. The man, though powerful, didn’t have an intellect of his own and couldn’t use his peanut-sized brain for screaming out loud.

"What did you say?" Killian raised his voice and stepped forward.

However, before he could say anything, soone stepped between them.

Ryan stood there, shielding Alia from Alpha Killian.

"I think the girl doesn’t want to talk to you," Ryan said.

"Stay out of it, Ashborn," Alpha Killian practically growled, their aura turning darker as if ready to fight.

Ryan didn’t flinch from his place and casually looked at Alia from the corner of his eyes.

"Do you want to talk?" Ryan asked.

Alia didn’t like another alpha intervening in her matters, but she could use this man to keep Killian away for the mont after she insulted him, and thus, she shook her head.

Alpha Killian’s expression turned even grave.

"You saw that?" Ryan asked, a smirk playing on his lips before he stepped forward.

Killian gritted his teeth, his jaws clenched as he looked at Alia.

"Alia, there’s a limit to my patience," he said.

Alia furrowed her brows. She didn’t know why, but recently, everyone had been getting on her nerves, and what annoyed her the most was that they expected her to bear all this drama.

Maybe it was because that was how she portrayed herself in the past: easy, immature, and a fool who acted like a slave to get so affection and attention.

But was it the sa case even now?

Alia took a deep breath before she stepped forward, siding Ryan gently.

She stood face to face with Killian, looking at him straight in the eyes.

Killian smirked inwardly. Just like he had thought, she was still under his control.

"Alpha Killian," Alia said softly.

"Yes?" He asked.

"Please accept that I don’t love you anymore, and you don’t have any control over . So stop acting entitled all the ti. Here, I said it clearly. Also, rather than acting as a pawn, why don’t you focus on your woman? I know you like Hannah," Alia said, turning around and leaving.

Ryan scoffed at Killian before he turned around and walked behind Alia, placing his hand on her shoulders.

"What?" Alia removed his hand from her shoulders with an annoyed expression.

Why were these people getting handsy with her?

"I like you," Ryan said, and Alia paused in her steps.

"Have you lost your mind?" She asked.

Ryan didn’t say anything and just chuckled at her irritated expression.

Hehe, it would be fun. He thought before following her inside the class.

anwhile, Killian, who watched everything from a distance, felt a pang in his heart.

The clear expression on Alia’s face, the lack of warmth and shyness like she used to have, indicated that he was losing her.

It wasn’t good. He will have to do sothing about it. Killian thought.
