Alia tried to take a deep breath, closing her eyes, Dominic’s grip suffocating her.
She wanted to fight, but she knew that she couldn’t, because if she did, she would risk Gloria’s life.
Kael ordered all his mbers to rush into the space and cover the area around the cage in swift motions, and everyone used their wolf powers.
The man broke through the cage and freed Gloria by breaking her chains, using his wolf’s powers. It was all thanks to Alia’s tonics and decoctions that he gained his pri powers, and he was ready to use them to help her every ti.
Alia was the reason his daughter was safe and sound in their ho. And as a grateful father, he was ready to lay down his life for his savior.
Dominic turned around in surprise when he noticed what was happening and imdiately barked orders at his people to stop the rogues who were freeing Gloria.
Kael didn’t want to risk Gloria’s life. He knew exactly who she was and the significance she held in everyone’s heart. Thus, he ordered everyone to vacate the area as soon as possible while taking Gloria away himself.
An angry growl left Dominic’s mouth, and his grip loosened from Alia’s neck, giving her enough ti to push him away and run for her life.
"Catch her! You bastards!" Dominic growled while he turned into his wolf form to follow Kael, who was taking Gloria away.
When Kael noticed the man was following them, he nodded at a few leaders to distract him with their antics while he ran straight to where their car was parked outside the forest.
The girls who were trained to beco poisonous by having small portions of poison and antidote regularly turned around and made a shield for Alia so she could pass by them.
Alia looked at the ten girls and clenched her fists.
"What are you doing? Co with !" She said urgently.
"You go. We will keep them away for you, boss," one of the girls said.
Alia’s pupils dilated when she realized they were sacrificing themselves, and honestly, she would’ve appreciated the efforts if this didn’t sound like plain dumbness.
"You guys can’t take them down just with their poisoned daggers or nails. They are professionals and outnumber you. So, unless you want to fill my heart with guilt, co with . What you can do is turn into wolf forms and carry ," Alia said.
As soon as her words registered in their minds, they turned into their wolves, and one of them placed her on her back before they dashed towards the exit with a speed even they didn’t know they were capable of.
Alia leaned forward and grabbed the fur of the wolf she was in before she looked at the n following them.
Her eyes teared up because of the air and dust particles as the window started to pick up pace for so reason.
"You think you can run away from us?" One of the n behind them shouted, and as soon as they said those words, Alia noticed sothing.
The she-wolves noticed it too, but it was already too late.
Multiple traps were placed on the forest ground, and as soon as they reached there, their paws got trapped in them.
Howls of pain echoed in the forest, making the sleeping birds fly away in panic.
Alia’s body fell forward, and the traps clutched at her skin at different places, making her wince in pain as blood gushed out of her wounds.
She looked at the wounded females who walked in pain before turning into their human forms.
Their half-naked bodies made Alia’s pupils dilate as she saw the n reaching them, their eyes imdiately full of lust and evil when they looked at the won.
"Dominic wanted you guys to catch , right? I will stop running. Let them go," Alia said.
The n scoffed at her.
"You are really sothing. Do you think you are in a position to make any deal with us?" one of the n asked.
Alia took a deep breath.
"I am always in a position to strike a deal. I am King Cyrus’s legal wife. You don’t believe ? Why don’t you ask your boss why he hates so much? Dominic might get out of it alive because he is still family, but what about the rest of you? Let them go, deliver to Dominic, and then you are free to go too. You won’t have to face Cyrus’s wrath. Use your brain!" Alia tried her best to manipulate the situation.
One of the n walked to her before grabbing her chin. He could see the confidence and anger in her eyes even when she was wounded like this, and knew this was the end.
For so reason, his heart and wolf told him to believe her, and he gulped before clearing his throat.
"We don’t really believe you. But we are in no mood to enjoy these ssy females either. I am in a hurry anyway," the man said before he nodded at his people.
"But sir..." One of the n started to oppose, making the leader look at him with raised brows.
The subordinate nodded before walking to the females and removing the traps from their feet.
The females looked at Alia with remorse and regret, unsure what to do.
"Go. You have many things to do." Alia said before nodding at them.
She hoped they would go and inform Cyrus after hearing what she had said earlier, and the man would co here in ti to save her.
Everything depended on how they would react after this.
After one final look, the she-wolves nodded at their boss before leaving, making Alia sigh.
This was going to be more challenging than she had anticipated.
Why did all this happen? Was it really a poorly calculated move? Was she ill-prepared for Dominic’s antics? Did she underestimate him?
Then again, how could she really predict it? He hadn’t brought that kind of force even when executing her in the last life.
A part of her blad herself and wondered if she had made a mistake by going through with his plan and deliberately falling into this trap. But if she hadn’t taken the step, maybe she wouldn’t have ever seen Gloria again.
After all, the cunning man kept the woman hidden in the sa kingdom for more than two decades, and no one ever suspected a thing.
Alia thought about Gloria’s gaze of hope and care when she had looked at her, as if giving her silent blessings from that cage with tears brimming in her eyes.
Those shackles, that kind of torture she went through for so many years ...
Her hands fisted the grass on the ground, a hiss leaving her mouth when one of the n walked to her and grabbed her elbow to take her away forcefully.
"Let’s go. You have wasted enough of our ti." The man pulled her to the clearance where they were earlier before throwing her on the ground.
As soon as Dominic, who had been following Gloria, returned empty-handed and saw Alia on the ground, his anger surged, and he backhanded her, making her head whip to the side.
"You bitch! Because of you, she left ! That woman whom I have been keeping under my control for so many years escaped from my clutches. Do you even know what that ans? How dare you?!" Dominic growled in her face, grabbing her hair in a fist before he dragged her into the sa cage where Gloria was imprisoned earlier.
Alia wanted to fight. She wanted to push him away, punch him in the guts, and kick him until he bled to death, but no matter how hard she tried, she felt powerless against him.
It was almost as if all her energy had been drained from her body. It was probably down to her recent injury, but...
"You deserve to live in this cage in place of her. You were ticulous in helping her escape, but who will save you? I could keep Gloria hidden for so many years, and no one heard a word about it. Who said I can’t do the sa with you?" Dominic asked.
His eyes turned furious as he looked at the girl in the cage.
However, it didn’t settle well with him. He was used to seeing his Gloria there, the woman he had been sleeping with, forcing himself on her, an indication of how he ultimately won over his brother Sebastian, got him on the deathbed, and got his woman in the end, even if he won the throne.
And the re fact that Gloria’s face was replaced by this brat Alia burned him with an unexplainable anger.
His fists clenched by his side.
"You know what? I don’t even want to bother keeping a bitch like you alive. Kill her. And don’t make it easy. Shoot fifty arrows at her. After all, she dared to commit treason by helping her future king’s prisoner," Dominic grinned.
His words made the defeated Alia look up in horror.
If Dominic had decided to cage her, there was still so hope that Cyrus and Kyle would find her, but if she died today...
And with fifty arrows?
Was fate really repeating itself?
She tried to calculate and realized this was approximately the ti after the year she went rogue when she was killed, too.
Her insides trembled as the horrific scene of her death in her last life started reappearing in her head. She shook her head violently.
No. This couldn’t happen. The mages said that she had a purpose in life. No. This shouldn’t happen.
Alia grabbed the bars and shook them violently, helplessly.
"You can’t do this!" She tried to scream, tears rolling down her cheeks as she prayed to the moon goddess or whoever the mages pray to co and help her.
"You won’t be able to survive if you kill . Cyrus won’t let you live. Think about your family that would suffer because of you." Alia tried to make so sense to him and buy so ti.
However, no matter what she said, nothing worked.
The man just walked to the side and leaned on a tree, looking at her with a blank expression.
She saw the n starting to put an arrow around the bow, ready to shoot, and her gaze wavered.
No. You can’t treat like this again. Moon goddess, you gave a purpose, a fate, and two mates; please don’t take it away from . Please give enough strength to fight it all. Or just let die in peace, but not this.
Alia fell on her knees inside the cage, feeling like a caged animal waiting for its execution, crying helplessly in one last plea to see if anyone could help her.
She closed her eyes, bringing her knees close to her chest as she wrapped her hands around herself, rocking herself back and forth to ease the pain of the mories, montarily going into shock.
