Alia looked at Kyle with intrigue.
"That’s the only distance we have to cover together for the night. Let’s et later," Kyle smiled at Alia before leaning and kissing her forehead.
She showed but didn’t say anything.
His forehead kisses were sothing she was getting used to.
"Are you going to leave here? In the middle of nowhere?" She asked, surprised.
Kyle smirked before ruffling her hair.
"You won’t be alone for long. Your husband is coming for you," he said.
"How do you know that?" Alia asked, even more shocked.
Kyle tilted his head, looking straight into her eyes.
"Just because I love you, don’t underestimate my power, sweetheart. I have my eyes everywhere. There’s a reason they don’t ss with ," He said casually.
His eyes were dark as his words sank in, and Alia’s heart skipped a beat.
"Now wait here like a good girl, and he should be here soon," Kyle said.
He gave her one last look before leaving on his bike.
Alia looked around, unsure if she should stay here or start walking on the road towards the city.
That would be better technically.
If Kyle said Cyrus would be here soon, he wouldn’t be lying.
She was about to sit on the side of the road, feeling atrociously tired after everything, and was about to turn her phone on when she felt soone’s presence behind her.
"You have been enjoying your life a hell of a lot, haven’t you?" She heard the voice, and she froze.
This familiar voice, the sa voice she had heard before her rebirth, that talked about her needing to unlock the power of the mages...
She didn’t dare turn around to see who it was. But on the other hand, she was also scared that the person or energy, or whatever it was, would hurt her from behind, and she wouldn’t be able to defend herself.
"Don’t turn around," the energy spoke, as if understanding her dilemma, and Alia nodded.
"I don’t know how to unlock the mage’s powers," She said after so ti.
The white energy she had felt before her rebirth neared her.
The goosebumps rising on her skin scread of the invasion of her privacy. Alia held her breath, unsure of what to expect.
Her mark on the hand began to react to the presence, and for the first ti, it was glowing white.
Alia looked at her hand in awe. It wasn’t hurting as much as it always did.
"You absorbed energy from a lord?" The white energy asked her.
Thinking it was sothing wrong and that she shouldn’t have done, Alia imdiately defended herself.
"I didn’t want to do it. It happened itself," She said.
The white energy asked her if the mark hurt at the mont, and Alia shook her head to answer.
"This is the energy you will have inside yourself when it is pure. The reason your mark hurts is that you won’t allow it to flow freely. You resist it," The energy said.
Alia looked at her mark and saw so Mana of energy rolling around her mark.
"Do you know about golden blood?" The energy asked her.
Alia shook her head again.
"That’s your descendants. The answers you are looking for... You should be able to find them there," The white energy said.
Alia was about to ask what she was talking about when she heard the sound of a few cars approaching in the dead and silent night.
The appearance disappeared from behind her, and her mark stopped glowing imdiately.
She pulled her phone and turned it on, taking a couple of steps backward behind the tree since she wasn’t sure it was Cyrus and his team only.
Cyrus, sitting inside the car, looked at his phone when it suddenly lit up. It was a ssage from the technician that Alia’s phone was turned on, and they would be able to track her within five minutes.
Cyrus heaved a sigh of relief and was about to call the technician to hurry up when he felt it.
Her presence.
"Stop the car," Cyrus said out of the blue, and Trevor applied the brakes, making the car screech before halting.
He got out of the car and followed his instincts, his wolf’s instincts, his gaze moving towards the forest where he felt soone was.
"Alia?" Cyrus said in a gentle voice, and the girl, hiding behind the tree, stepped out.
Fabian and Trevor, who had exited the car to see what their boss had stopped the vehicle for, looked at their princess, her clothes and face dirty with marks of being tied by ropes on her hands.
Her hair was a ss, but the fact that she was found made them breathe in relief.
Alia looked at Cyrus and imdiately rushed to him.
"You ca," She said, her eyes brimming with tears.
Even if it was a fake kidnapping, the fact that her husband was so worried about her filled her with joy.
Cyrus sighed. He didn’t say anything for so ti, looking at her from head to toe as if scanning her for any injuries. Once he ensured she was fine otherwise, he held her hand and pulled her in for a hug.
"I was scared," She whispered.
Cyrus felt his heart ache at her soft and timid voice and hugged her tighter.
"I know you were," He said.
Fabian and Trevor looked away ticulously, giving the couple their mont.
Cyrus pulled out his handkerchief and started wiping Alia’s face to clean the dirt before sighing.
"It’s over now. Let’s go ho. We will talk about it later," Cyrus said.
Alia nodded and sat in the car with him.
Due to tiredness, it didn’t take her long to fall asleep.
"Sothing is bothering you, sir. This is not how you would’ve reacted under normal circumstances," Fabian used his mind link to ask the question to his boss.
Cyrus humd. He looked away, feeling complicated.
Sothing was indeed wrong. The fact that Alia was kidnapped, but she slled like the sa man who used to et her in secret, and to save her, confused him.
What was she doing here in the middle of nowhere? If the rogue head kidnapped her, why didn’t he demand sothing from him? Why let her go without any hassle?
There was no way they realised their mistake and were so scared of him.
Though he never interacted with the rogue head directly because their paths never crossed and the cunning man never left any traces, sothing didn’t fit.
And his mind, which was working and overthinking, had one particular thought...
What were the chances that this rogue head was the sa man Alia used to et in secret?
The lack of any injuries on Alia’s body, the lack of any feelings of pain through the mark that she left on his neck, told him she was never tortured.
And this dirt looked more forced, as if applied deliberately rather than naturally.
If Alia knew this rogue head, this was an act of kidnapping. But for what?
Because Alia saved Lilithia’s life, they wanted to scare everyone by kidnapping Alia, but it turned out they knew each other.
Too many things circled Cyrus’ head, and the one screaming out loud was why he felt so calm even after slling another man’s scent on Alia when his wolf should be roaring in anger.
It was different before he was marked, but now he was marked, and she was his alone. Then why the hell was Sylas so calm and collected rather than losing his shit?
Cyrus looked at Alia, who was fast asleep, and thinned his lips.
