Kotov Mansion, Guest Room No.5.
"To think a day would e that even I would need saving... sigh... it seems I am getting old too..."
Ashtel took a deep sigh as he lamented the fact that he couldn’t defeat the Demon King by himself, and if not for the fact that Rio had e to help him out, he would have been dead by now!
"The Demon King seems like a special case... someone so highly corrupted like him shouldn’t be able to wield a legendary skill; he’s just too unordinary, you don’t need to blame yourself for that..."
Rio tried to console him, but Ashtel just shook his head at those words.
"No. A loss is a loss, Rio."
"Nobody cares what kind of attack the winner used to settle the battle; everything depends on who’s the final winner and who’s the loser."
"I let my guard down and didn’t expect him to have any legendary skills. I lost because of my own carelessness; if I had expected him to have such powers and had prepared early on, I wouldn’t have been defeated so disgracefully..."
"I lost this battle because of my own shortings."
Ashtel clenched his fist and then continued,
"But of course, I can’t just let myself be defeated all the time; I will take this as a lesson and never repeat the same mistake again..."
With that said, Ashtel got up from the bed and spoke,
"I must go and check on Riku and the others now. Thanks for saving me, Rio; I will never forget this favour."
"I also need to head back home for a bit to see how the situation back there is."
Rio nodded his head at those words and spoke,
"Good, I have managed to get an artifact that can teleport us back; no need to worry about us, take care of the business; we will make our way back once we are ready..."
"By the way, don’t tell the people outside that you were defeated by the Demon King... The world outside is in chaos right now; telling them about this will only make people even more worried."
Ashtel was considered the strongest man on this planet, and the entire world alliance looked up to him!
They all believed that if demons started to go on a rampage one day, Ashtel would be their biggest shield!
Ashtel was like a banner of hope for the people of the world.
So, regardless of what happens, this banner of hope must not be sullied before a new banner of hope is ready to take on the mantle of protecting the world!
"Sigh... I feel ashamed that I have to hide all this. Well, thank you once again, Rio, for saving me."
"Although I couldn’t defeat the Demon King, which I should have, I can only make amends by helping people outside, so I should go now."
"Once you bee an SS-ranker, I will announce to the world that it was in fact you who stopped the demon armies from continuing their rampage."
Rio nodded his head and agreed, knowing that Ashtel would likely not let this matter go if he didn’t agree.
Seeing Rio agree, Ashtel smiled at him and then opened a portal to teleport himself.
But before leaving, he glanced at Link and Lia who were behaving so weirdly and asked,
"What’s going on with them?"
Rio shook his head at those words and replied calmly,
"Err... they kind of got hit hard on the head by Raika during the battle; don’t mind them, they will be back to normal soon enough."
Hearing those words, Ashtel nodded his head and left through the portal in confusion.
He needed to settle the aftermath of the battle and deal with all the chaos, so he couldn’t afford to waste any more time here and inquire about Link’s and the others’ situations.
Thus, he could only leave for now and worry about other things later.
Once Ashtel left, Rio stroked Lia’s head with his hand and spoke calmly.
"Thankfully, you have such good control over destiny manipulation and are able to heal people who have their strings of destinies petrified."
"If not for you, we would have to go through a lot of trouble to bring Uncle Rex back to normal."
Despite Rio consoling her, Lia remained silent as she buried her face in his arms and refused to let go.
’Sigh... I guess it would take a while for her to e to terms with all those memories...’
Shaking his head in dismay, Rio glanced at Riya, who had her eyes closed and was using her healing field to heal the people of the entire island at once.
’Her healing magic has bee even stronger now it seems... I have been lagging behind in terms of healing elemental mastery though, sigh...’
Rio glanced at the window and looked at the dark clouds that were slowly gathering above the island and thought to himself,
’It’s going to rain... what timing! it’s as if the world is weeping for all the dead souls that fell to the demon armies...’
’The destruction that happened today is catastrophic... and to think that all this happened just because a certain someone wanted to have a talk with me...’
’If we consider things this way... I am indirectly the reason why so many of these people died...’
It was impossible to just grab the souls and resurrect all these thousands of people, as that would throw the balance of the laws of the world off and would cause massive backlash.
If not for that backlash, Rio would have already asked Riya to cast resurrection on all these people.
’Just reviving Liam and Ellie caused a heavenly punishment powerful enough to shatter a continent back then.’
’If we tried to resurrect so many people... it won’t just be the planet that would be affected; the laws of the entire solar system would go haywire...’
Thinking about this matter, Rio could only shake his head and could only offer his condolences to the unfortunate families of the dead.
’Forgive me, everyone; I didn’t know that the Demon King would take such a reckless step just for the sake of me...’
’I will ask the Demon King for a proper explanation the next time I see him for all of your departed souls...’
Rio felt responsible for these dead souls, but he was not the type to bury himself in guilt, so he could only show his sincerity through his actions.
