Reborn as a Weak Earthling, I Became the Most Overpowered Mage Alive Chapter 54: Ch 54: Clash between Companions
’Is he...not going to ask what I was doing? Is Andrew not interested in what I do?’
Seraphina was not sure whether she felt relieved or disappointed with this news. The Andrew she used to know was overly invested in her and did not allow her to be alone with her thoughts for long.
But that had been when they were together.
’Does he...no longer hold feelings for ?’
As for Seraphina herself, it was tough for her to say what she felt for Andrew. The actual feelings she had for him never faded away, but over ti, they both had different things they wanted to do.
So in the end, despite still being in love, they had broken up. And months later, Seraphina had disappeared from the world and was caught by the system.
’Even now, I am deceiving him. Will I be forgiven...no, even understood once the truth cos to light?’
Seraphina asked as she looked at her system window. The mission about taking down the queen was real, but that was not the only mission she had been given.
She, along with other creatures, were given a ’second chance’ by the system. They were mixed in with players to sabotage gas and humanity. As far as she knew, there were 10 of such people the system had selected.
’Did sothing similar happen to Arcana as well?’
She had no answer for that question. But she did know what she needed to do.
The puppet had assured her that the system did not make empty promises. If she was able to bring Earth down, then there would be a chance for her holand to co back. She would be able to go back to the people who loved her.
’Andrew would understand that as well, right? I should tell him...’
But every ti she tried to open her mouth, her words got stuck in her throat. Her instincts told her that Andrew had changed a lot, and that made her hesitate to tell him much more.
"What are you looking at?"
Andrew asked, walking over to her, and Seraphina imdiately closed the system screen out of reflex.
"I...am not looking at anything. Shall we head out now?"
She asked Andrew, who did not say anything else to her. His silence and silent acceptance made her feel even more guilty about this whole thing.
And yet, she decided not to say anything to him right now. She was not going to tell him anything until she confird what his intentions were and where he stood on all of this.
’Trust...I don’t think I can trust you anymore, Andrew. I wish things would not have co down to this...’
__________
Andrew looked at Seraphina once in a while as they walked. They were looking around aimlessly for now, and an awkward silence had filled the space.
Finally, the silence was broken by Andrew first.
"Should we start looking for my companions? I have a contract with two of them, so they should be nearby?"
He asked, and Seraphina nodded.
"Your companions...? I am now even more curious to see what kind of people you keep as your new company."
She chuckled, but her voice sounded a little strained. But Andrew did not ask her what was wrong. Seraphina was soone who did not like feeling smothered, and Andrew respected her wishes.
"I chose my companions based on their abilities...at first, at least. But I have to admit that they grew on pretty quickly."
Seraphina’s face soured a little bit, but she quickly caught herself.
"I see. You were always soone who prioritized ability over compassion. Let guess, you went for a healer, and soone who can provide food and such?"
Seraphina joked around, and Andrew just nodded at her, ignoring the slight bite in her words.
"Well, a healer is important in their journey. It’s even better because the healer I found is a buffer as well. They are all good people, so I am sure you will get along well with them."
Andrew told Seraphina, and she paused her walking.
"Get along...? What do you..."
"You are going to complete this ga and co back with , right? Having a familiar face in this unfamiliar world can be a source of comfort. Ah, if you don’t want to co with , then it is fine as well. I respect your wishes and will let you go if that is sothing you want."
Andrew assured Seraphina, and his words brought tears to Seraphina’s eyes.
"I...will think about it."
She finally let those words out, but they sounded nasally and wet. Her eyes and face did not show her emotions, but she did not stop her voice from showing how she felt.
Before Andrew could ask her about anything more, he suddenly felt himself being pulled back, and Seraphina intercepted the sword coming for him.
She pushed back the attack before her sword swung swiftly. The attacker pulled back imdiately, and Andrew got a good look at the face.
"Seraphina, wait-! I know him...Emperor, you need to pull back as well. What are you doing...?"
He asked, finally positioning himself in front of Seraphina. But both Seraphina and Emperor did not calm down. Instead, they tensed even more and gave him a baffled look.
"Do you...know her? She is a pawn of the system. We need to get rid of her before she causes any more trouble."
Emperor spoke harshly. From his words, it was clear to see that he knew Seraphina. But was that really possible?
After all, she was from the sa world as Andrew was, and he was sure that he had never been present in any of Emperor’s regression cycles before.
"Wait a minute...I think we should calm down and discuss this. I know Seraphina well enough to confirm her identity...at least, in this round."
Andrew assured Emperor, and he cald down. But he did not put his sword down.
"Emperor, wait a minute...! Why are you so darn fast?"
Clara questioned as both she and Lilianna arrived quickly. They looked at Emperor, who looked ready to kill Seraphina, and then at Andrew, who was defending her.
The contradictory image made Clara imdiately speak up.
"Alright, what the fuck is going on here? Can soone explain to ? And what is with this stupid ga? I do not understand any of this stuff."
Clara spoke, and her loud voice cut through the erging tension. Andrew blinked as he looked at her and then at everyone else before deciding that they should get things cleared out as soon as possible.
