{lisa}
lisa's eyes fluttered open, the soft morning light filtering through her curtains. She stretched, arching as she shook off the last vestiges of sleep. Her tail moved lazily against the sheets, a contented purr rumbling in her throat.
[... Alright, back to work, I guess.]
As she padded downstairs after getting dressed, the aroma of freshly cooked breakfast wafted through the air. lisa's stomach growled in anticipation.
She rounded the corner to find Margaret at the stove, humming softly as she flipped pancakes.
This was, of course, one of the better parts of staying at Javir's manor and not at the academy. lisa had been unaware of just how much she missed this view.
God, Margaret looked good. Her tits, so full of milk and so plump, bounced gently even from the slightest motion. Her hips, literally child-bearing (having birthed two children thus far), were so... grabbable.
Without hesitation, lisa walked over and wrapped her arms around her mother from behind, pressing her body close.
"Morning, Mom," she purred with her lips just an inch from Margaret's ear, her voice low and sultry. "Slls delicious. Almost as good as you."
Margaret chuckled, leaning back into lisa's embrace.
"Behave yourself, young lady," she admonished, but there was no real bite to her words. In fact, she even placed her hands gently over lisa's wrists, like she ant to keep her there. "You haven't even had your coffee yet."
lisa grinned, planting a slow, wet kiss on Margaret's cheek (and giving one of those milk bags of hers a playful squeeze) before releasing her.
"Love you."
"Love you too, sweetheart."
As she moved to set the table, her gaze drifted to the window. Outside, Jaylin was already up and at it, her hand moving through the air as she practiced her spell parries for the presentation.
[Damn,] lisa thought, a twinge of guilt gnawing at her. [I really should be out there too. Can't let the competition get ahead. I an, we're on the sa team, but... It's still clearly a competition.]
But the allure of otherworldly pancakes proved too strong, and lisa pushed the thought aside.
There'd be ti for training later.
---
So ti passed and lisa found herself striding through the opulent halls of the palace, her footsteps echoing off the marble floors. She'd barely finished digesting breakfast.
[Just another day in the life,] she mused, shaking her head. [I have lots more nim to heal, but, unfortunately, I also only have a limited amount of ti with Zephyra. I can't just ignore my lessons.]
As she approached Zephyra's office, lisa took a deep breath, steeling herself for whatever new crisis awaited. She knocked once, then pushed the door open without waiting for a response.
Zephyra looked up from her desk, a small smile playing on her lips as lisa entered.
"Ah, right on ti," the court sorceress said, her voice smooth as silk. "Close the door, would you? We have much to discuss."
lisa complied, then settled into the chair across from Zephyra.
She tried and completely failed at keeping her eyes from roaming the mage's body.
[God, it's like she's trying to make jump her.]
"So," lisa said, leaning forward. "What's the latest?"
Zephyra's expression turned grim.
"I'm afraid I don't have much in the form of good news," she said, shuffling through so papers on her desk. "We've had more attacks on Cursed nim families. The pattern is... concerning."
lisa's brow furrowed.
"Wait, so, we have a pattern now?"
Zephyra t her gaze, her athyst eyes intense.
"Two things stand out," she explained. "First, all the attacks are happening at night. And second..." She hesitated, her lips pressing into a thin line.
"Second what?" lisa prompted, a knot forming in her stomach.
"They seem to be deliberately avoiding you," Zephyra finished. "Every attack has been as far from your last known locations as possible."
lisa leaned back in her chair, her mind racing.
"Huh... I guess that makes sense."
"Indeed," Zephyra agreed. "Given that you're the only nim walking around out in the open, they're probably well-inford about your movents. And that they're afraid of confronting you directly."
lisa wasn't sure what to think about that.
[Really? They're afraid of confronting ?] lisa thought about it, leaning back and looking up at the ceiling. [I an, I've taken out more random assassins than I can count, but... it feels weird that they'd go out of their way not to fight .]
lisa's fingers drumd on the armrest of her chair.
"I feel like they could just be doing that to get my guard down," lisa muttered.
"How do you figure?"
"So far, I've been allowed to walk freely," lisa shrugged. "Chances are, at least in my opinion, that won't remain that way for long."
Zephyra nodded slowly.
"They're setting up a trap, maybe? Lulling you into a false sense of security, waiting until you have no Essence left, and then striking at that mont?"
The more lisa's mind went down this train of thought, the more sense it made.
"Yeah, yeah, I think so."
"Hm. In that case, you'll have to make sure you have so help with you at all tis. Can you ensure that remains the case?"
"I can," lisa replied. "I an, I think."
"Good."
---
Soon, having learned a couple more spells from Zephyra, lisa and Isabella strolled through the bustling streets of Syux, the afternoon sun casting long shadows across the cobblestones.
lisa couldn't help but notice that her kitsune friend seed... off.
Isabella's usual bounce was missing, her erald eyes distant and unfocused.
[Sothing's definitely up with her,] lisa thought, her brow furrowing. [Ti to be nosy!]
"Alright, spill it," lisa said, nudging Isabella with her elbow. "What's got your fluffy tail in a twist?"
Isabella blinked, coming back to reality.
"Huh? Oh, it's nothing," she said, waving a hand dismissively. "Just... so stuff that happened at the party."
lisa's ears perked up at that.
"Oh yeah, the party! I totally forgot about that," she exclaid. "How'd it go? Did you manage to schmooze any stuffy nobles into buying your wand?"
A slow, wicked grin spread across Isabella's face, her eyes lighting up with that familiar mischievous glint.
"Oh, it was lots of fun," she purred, her voice dripping with suggestion. "I made so mutually beneficial connections."
lisa rolled her eyes, but couldn't suppress a grin of her own.
"Uh-huh. I bet you did," she teased. "Any of these 'connections' involve you on your knees in a broom closet?"
Isabella gasped in mock offense.
"I'll have you know, I have standards," she protested. Then, with a wink, she added, "It was the balcony, actually~"
They both burst into laughter, drawing curious glances from passersby.
But reality ca crashing back as they rounded a corner and lisa looked down at her map.
"Alright, here we are." lisa sighed. "Duty calls," she muttered, approaching the door with Isabella close behind.
They knocked, and an exhausted-looking human woman answered. One look at her red-rimd eyes told lisa everything she needed to know.
"I'm sorry," the woman said, her voice barely above a whisper. "You're too late. She... she passed yesterday."
lisa's heart sank.
[Oh. Shit.]
"I... understand," she said softly. "I'm so sorry for your loss. Is there anything we can do?"
The woman shook her head, already closing the door.
"Thank you, but... no. We just need ti."
As they walked away, lisa felt the weight of failure pressing down on her. It wasn't really her fault, of course. But...
[Maybe I could have co here sooner or sothing.]
Isabella watched her friend's shoulders slump, concern etched across her face.
She made an expression like she was thinking of sothing. Then, without warning, with a look of "I got it!" Isabella grabbed lisa's wrist and pulled her into a nearby alley.
Before lisa could protest, Isabella pressed her against the wall, their bodies flush against each other.
"Wha-" lisa started, but her words were cut off as Isabella's lips crashed into hers.
Isabella's tongue darted out, teasing at the seam of lisa's lips. With a soft moan, lisa opened her mouth, letting Isabella in. Their tongues danced, exploring each other's mouths with a desperate hunger.
lisa's hands found Isabella's hips, pulling her closer. She could feel the heat radiating off the kitsune's body, sll the intoxicating scent of her arousal. Isabella's tail swished excitedly, brushing against lisa's legs.
Isabella sucked on lisa's tongue, drawing a deep, guttural moan from the nim. Their saliva mingled, and lisa found herself swallowing, savoring the taste of her lover. Isabella's hands tangled in lisa's hair, tugging gently as she deepened the kiss even further.
[Gods, I needed this,] lisa thought, losing herself in the sensation.
They broke apart for air, both panting heavily. Isabella's eyes were dark with lust, her lips swollen and glistening.
"Feel better?" she asked, her voice husky.
lisa nodded, still a bit dazed.
"Yeah, I... wow. What brought that on?"
Isabella shrugged, a playful smile dancing on her lips.
"You looked like you needed a distraction," she said. "And, well, I'm always happy to provide."
lisa chuckled, shaking her head.
"Heh, much appreciated, I guess. I just..." She sighed. "Hate that this sort of thing is even happening, you know?"

"Indeed. But, hey, at least you're trying. Co on," Isabella tugged on her hand. "What's the next place on the list?"
"Let's see..."
As they stepped back out onto the street, straightening their clothes and trying to look innocent, lisa couldn't help but smile.
[Maybe I can't save everyone,] she mused, watching Isabella's tail sway as they walked. [But like she said, all I can do is keep trying.]
