After having tea and dinner with Arabella, Ferdinand went to his office since there were a lot of docunts he had to sign.
Their tea and dinner together was his only break so Arabella was beginning to get worried.
Still, she understood the docunts were urgent. They would be in deus for a month and who knows if they would have the ti to do work from the palace. Thus, Ferdinand had to do it now.
Arabella was done with her work so she went to her room and read a book. She waited for Ferdinand in case he would go to her room after working. Late night ca but he still didn’t co so she slept on her own.
But in the morning, she woke up wrapped in Ferdinand’s arms. He apparently went to her room by dawn when his work was finally done.
They had breakfast together and prepared to head for deus. Once they were ready, they gathered in front of the palace where Alwin and the knights were waiting.
Raymond and the ministers were also there to see them off.
A number of Arabella’s maids and Ferdinand’s butlers would also join them to take care of their needs.
Alfredo would also be with them along with so more chefs to take care of their als.
There were als provided in deus during the Assembly. But most attendees usually still brought their own chefs with them so they could eat the food they were used to.
The Grand Commander and the most elite Imperial knights would also escort them for formality’s sake. They were equipped with the latest models and most expensive weapons and armor as a show of power. (Ferdinand did always ensure his knights had the best equipnt and weapons.)
Knights were allowed to escort them into deus but in a limited number to prevent any nation from trying to take over it.
Royalty usually had a lot of knights escorting them to deus. However, most of these knights would have to camp right outside the borders of deus or stay in accommodations nearby until the Assembly was over. Only a few would be allowed in to prevent conflicts from arising.
. . .
Once everything was ready, the ministers wished them safe travels and Alwin teleported them.
"Alwin this is still quite far from deus," Ferdinand said when he looked around after they were teleported.
Arabella looked around as well. They were in an open space beside a road.
From afar she could see flags in a distant palace. She recognized them. They were in Olivier. It was a dukedom in Loranne, a kingdom beside deus. It shared borders with deus.
Raymond had apparently processed the necessary docunts so they could pass through here without problems when they attend the assembly.
"Teleport us closer," Ferdinand ordered.
{Do you an to make my wife suffer a boring journey having to ride in a carriage from here?} he glared at his mage.
Between Valeria and deus, there were two kingdoms they were supposed to traverse.
First, the Kingdom of Selene which shared borders with Valeria. Second was the Kingdom of Loranne which shared borders with Selene and deus.
Loranne was about four tis the size of Selene. Thus, from Olivier Dukedom it would take several days by carriage to reach deus which was why Ferdinand wanted to be teleported closer.
"My apologies, Your Majesty. This is where I usually teleport His Excellency. We have to ride by carriage from here," Alwin explained that they had to follow the customs.
They should enter deus from Olivier as if they traveled from Valeria traversing Selene and Loranne or passing through the borders.
Moreover, they cannot just teleport directly in front of the gates of deus or the areas surrounding it which was closely watched by now since other rulers had probably arrived earlier than they were.
{Her Majesty is used to traveling by carriage. She had traveled by carriage to deus several tis in the past.} Alwin reminded.
{My lord, aren’t you the one who’s going to get bored?} Alwin said knowingly and Ferdinand grimaced.
[Three or more days riding a carriage? What would I do in all that ti? Human customs and etiquette are so troubleso.] Ferdinand internally complained.
Arabella flinched when Ferdinand even thought these were the tis he just wanted to hibernate and sleep for decades.
She almost forgot about this. Her husband is quite impatient about matters like this. It was why he usually summons Alwin to teleport him where he wanted to go.
Ferdinand wasn’t one who can sit inside a carriage for long. He might just die of boredom. He hated riding in carriages.
Now, Arabella understood why since in Estrella, once he was in his dragon form, he could fly as he pleased. He could also just teleport where he wanted to go.
{I’d rather go hunting than stay in a carriage for days and hours. If I could fly here too, I’d be in deus in a few minutes. No, from here would just be a minute or two.}
Ferdinand wanted to ride on his horse instead of riding in a carriage for so long. But Raymond had forbidden it except in ergencies since the Emperor of Valeria should not be seen on his horse like one of the knights.
’No wonder Raymond had to tell him to just stay in the carriage and not go anywhere else,’ Arabella almost chuckled when she recalled Ferdinand’s reaction when Raymond reiterated before they departed that he should just stay in the carriage during the whole journey.
{Then, would you rather go hunting in the anti? Or work in the palace? I’ll teleport you back into the carriage once we are in front of the gates of deus. But that would an, Her Majesty would be alone the entire ti.} Alwin said and Ferdinand was wide-eyed.
[Right! I have my wife now. I can’t possibly leave her alone.]
{I’ll ride the carriage. But I’ll be riding with her.}
[I won’t be bored if I get to watch her all day and all night instead.] Ferdinand suddenly had a smile on his face and Arabella had a bad feeling about it.
They were supposed to ride separately. There was a different carriage for each of them.
On travels like this, royalty usually rode separately. Only young children were allowed to ride with one of their parents. But once they were old enough, they also ride separately and would be tended by their own attendants and guards.
But Ferdinand was determined to ride with Arabella instead so they could do nothing about it.
[It worked as Raymond said. I just said Her Majesty would be alone and he easily agreed riding a carriage now. It took so long to convince him last ti and he left the carriage after just a few minutes anyway.] Alwin lanted.
Alwin wondered how much more his lord would change in this life. He was getting worried that Ferdinand would blindly love Arabella again and just do everything he thought was best for her without regard for himself.
Still, it was better than Ferdinand staying in his carriage exuding a dark aura from being moody and bored, or asking when they would arrive over and over again.
