Chapter 675: Chapter 675: Contest for Piers, Second Young Master Arrives Chapter 675: Chapter 675: Contest for Piers, Second Young Master Arrives Daniel Piers moved even quicker than Adam had anticipated.
The next day, Piers convened an ergency shareholders eting. Besides several forr small shareholders of the company, there were also several high-level executives present.
Oliver Piers, Mason Piers, and Adam Piers attended the eting.
Today’s eting was chaired by Daniel Piers.
Over the past few years, Daniel’s performance at Piers had been outstanding. Although he had been working abroad for many years, his abilities were well-recognized. Upon returning to the country three months ago, he was imdiately promoted to a high-level position. Later, he replaced Oliver Piers’ role, helping Piers navigate the previous reputation crisis, which heightened his prestige within the company.
The purpose of Daniel’s convening this shareholders eting was very clear. It was to remove Brandon Piers from the chairman position and have their father, Oliver Piers, take over.
For years, Brandon Piers had been a laid-back chairman. Even when he ca to the company, it felt like he was on a leisurely trip, causing much dissatisfaction among high-level executives. Now, with Daniel’s proposal, the motion was almost unanimously approved on the spot.
While Adam appeared relaxed, he was, in fact, burning with anxiety. He couldn’t understand if Brandon really didn’t care about Piers.
Even if he didn’t care, he shouldn’t let others take it away so easily, should he?
Holding his phone, Adam sent the Nth ssage to Brandon. Finally, Daniel’s gaze fell on him. “Adam, do you have any other opinions?”
“Huh?” Being suddenly nad, Adam pretended to be bewildered, then answered nonchalantly, “As the largest shareholder of Piers, my third uncle naturally has the final say.”
“That’s not entirely accurate. My father’s appointnt as the company chairman still depends on the support from senior executives and other board mbers,” Daniel replied modestly and kindly. Then he looked at the others. “Does anyone else have any opinions?”
The eting room fell silent.
Sitting in the chairman’s seat, Oliver appeared calm and composed. Inwardly, he was extrely pleased. After years of careful planning, he had finally achieved his goal. How could he possibly be as indifferent as he seed?
“Since there are no objections, let us welco our new chairman, Oliver Piers…”
“Wait a mont.” Just as Daniel was about to invite Oliver to speak, an elderly board mber suddenly shouted from the corner.
Daniel paused and looked over. Everyone else also turned toward the elderly board mber.
“Mr. Reynolds, do you have any other opinions?” Daniel’s handso face wore a gentle smile, but his eyes revealed a layer of coldness.
“As things currently stand, Chairman Piers only has forty-eight percent of the company’s shares supporting him. That doesn’t make up an absolute majority, does it? What if Master Brandon’s shares exceed forty-eight percent?” Mr. Reynolds said calmly.
Everyone exchanged glances, seemingly incredulous.
Daniel also smiled slightly. “Mr. Reynolds may not know, but five percent of Piers’ shares are held by Midsumr Trust, which only grants dividend rights and is not included in the count.”
Subtracting this five percent, even if Brandon had all the remaining shares, it would only co to forty-seven percent, one percent less.
Those who had already heard about it nodded, acknowledging Daniel’s statent as fact.
Adam grew even more anxious upon hearing this.
He knew about the five percent trust in Midsumr better than anyone. He couldn’t figure out what kind of monster Brandon really was.
Bang!
Just as Adam was growing more anxious, the eting room doors suddenly swung open. Brandon Piers strolled in with Kennan Max and Kelvin Max.
Everyone turned to Brandon, clearly not expecting him to show up just as the eting was about to end.
Brandon wore a handcrafted silver-gray suit. His straight trousers led to a pair of gleaming black leather shoes. Standing backlit in the eting room, he appeared even taller and more striking.
As he walked in, everyone noticed underneath his silver-gray suit, his white shirt was buttoned up to the first button, yet he wore no tie. This added an alluring sense of relaxation to his noble deanor.
Two contradictory qualities perfectly rged in Brandon. Seeing everyone’s surprised expressions, he raised an eyebrow slightly. “Am I not arriving at the right ti?”
Adam wanted to cry. You’re arriving just in ti.
“How could that be? Brandon arrived just in ti,” Daniel naturally anticipated Brandon’s arrival. But now that things had reached this point, even Brandon’s presence in the eting room couldn’t change anything.
“I think so too.” Brandon smiled slightly as he spoke, stunning many board mbers and high-level executives.
However, it was the people familiar with Brandon who were most shocked, while those unfamiliar only found him enchanting.
Daniel frowned slightly. He couldn’t understand what Brandon was planning, but regardless of what Brandon was up to, he still held a significant share as the company’s second-largest shareholder. Daniel casually pointed to an empty seat for Brandon. “Brandon, have a seat.”
But Brandon didn’t move. Instead, he candidly looked at Oliver’s seat.
Kelvin stepped forward. “Chairman Piers, are you sitting in the wrong seat?”
Oliver had already resigned from his role as CEO, hence Kelvin referred to him as Chairman Piers.
No one expected Brandon to be so straightforward, daring to ask his assistant to remove Oliver. Wasn’t he afraid that after being ousted as chairman, he would lose his shares?
Oliver chuckled angrily and, with the deanor of a victor, looked down on Brandon, his tone still perpetually benevolent. “Brandon, you must not know, having arrived late, that just now the board and the company’s executives voted. From now on, I will be the chairman. As for you, dear nephew, I heard you’ve been unwell recently. How about resting at ho until you’re better, then co back and take on a lighter role?”
“Really?” Brandon appeared slightly surprised, then glanced around the eting room before asking with puzzlent, “As the largest shareholder of Piers Group, how co I didn’t know the company has a new chairman?”
“Secretary, hand the docunt to Master Brandon,” Daniel instructed, considerate as ever.
The secretary promptly handed the docunt to Brandon. Many small shareholders and executives watched Brandon with schadenfreude, waiting for him to make a fool of himself.
Brandon took the docunt and, after a brief glance, predictably darkened his expression. Seeing this, Oliver felt a rush of satisfaction. Thinking about his two bodyguards who had been beaten and were still in the hospital, his animosity toward Brandon grew.
He knew it must have been Brandon’s doing, but without any evidence, he had to swallow his anger.
Today, however, was different. Once Brandon was removed as chairman and he succeeded, many things would beco easier.
Brandon didn’t miss Oliver’s expression. As he closed the docunt and looked up, instead of appearing disgraced as everyone had expected, he started to smile.
This smile made many people’s scalps tingle, especially Adam, who was most afraid of Brandon showing his angelic but secretly scheming and sinister smile.
Sure enough, the next mont, everyone heard Brandon ask nonchalantly, “Who said I only have forty-seven percent of the shares?”
Oliver’s triumphant expression suddenly froze. He looked at Brandon in shock. “What do you an?”
The room fell into sudden and utter silence.
