"Um, Your Highness, is there a way that we can procure a few of these? " Alfonso asked as he got down from the bus after a brief tour.
As soon as Alfonso asked the question, the other three leaders also perked up their ears, and that included Georgios Paleologos. At their level of power, money does not an much, but comfort does, so if possible, they would love to buy a few buses from the Bharatiya Empire, irrespective of the cost.
Agni was the last person to get down from the bus, and when he heard the question, he shrugged, " Why not? " "Of course it is for sale." He had a mischievous grin on his face, " After all, that is why I did a small product tour, didn’t I? "
His words caught Alfonso and the others off guard, making them break out into a chuckle.
" In that case, I really have to order a few for myself ", Alfonso replied almost instantly.
’ This guy is old but not dull at all, ’ Georgios Paleologos, Ezekiel and Hassan remarked in their hearts.
"True, after all, His Highness Agni himself did the product demonstration, how can we not purchase a few?" Hassan looked towards Agni and slightly bowed with a namaskara, " I will personally get a few as well. "
Looking at his cheeky expression, Agni couldn’t help but smile.
Georgios Paleologos and Ezekiel Oppenheir also said they would order a few, so Agni simply asked one of his aides to be responsible for the rest of the transactions, as he stepped forward and gestured towards the right, " Shall we take a look at the canal? "
"Oh! Yes, absolutely." All the leaders nodded and walked behind Agni.
"I have been eager to see what it is like as well," Alfonso silently added.
Aslam Hassan al-Masri, Miguel de Briganza, and the other important second-generation kids, along with the rest of the people who were socialising, seeing the Kings of Egypt and Portugal, the Pri Minister of Israel, the General Secretary of the Greek Republics, and the Prince of the Bharatiya Empire moving toward the canal, naturally followed right behind them.
Finally reaching the banks of the canal, Agni’s eyes lit up as he saw the large depression. The ditch before him looked more like a small pond than a canal, but this pond stretched dozens of kilotres to the south, extending beyond the horizon, as if so colossal serpent had left its winding trail behind.
The only thing holding back the waters of the diterranean Sea from rushing into the canal was the massive temporary dam erected during construction. Once it was removed, the diterranean and the Red Sea would be connected for the first ti in human history. And for the first ti ever, anyone travelling to the Golden Sparrow would no longer need to circle around the entire African continent. They could simply sail to the eastern edge of the diterranean and slip directly into the Red Sea.
With Agni’s nod, and since the auspicious ti had arrived, the rituals like Ganga Pooja started to be held.
Soon, the mantras began to echo on the bank of the Suez Canal, and the rhythmic Sanskrit chants sounded like an incantation for a magic spell, leaving a lot of people srised, and also leaving a few crossing their hearts in prayer to Jesus Christ.
While all of this was happening, Agni, along with the kings, sat on large chairs at the side, watching the ceremony interestedly.
" His Majesty’s health, is it all right, Your Highness? " Ezekiel asked.
Agni looked at Ezekiel and nodded, " Father is very healthy, it’s just that coming so far is a little inconvenient, so I ca. "
Ezekiel was sympathetic, " It’s understandable, Your Highness. The last ti His Majesty ca for the Olympics, he encountered an assassination attempt," he eyed the king of Egypt as he said this. " It is right to be careful. "
Agni smiled and nodded.
" To think that a decade has passed since the project began, " he suddenly added.
Everyone showed a complicated look as soon as they heard these words. Yes, it has been 10 years since the project started, and a lot has changed in this ti.
King Alfonso thought that the project wouldn’t end in his lifeti, and his son would be the one attending the ceremony, but fate plays out in mysterious ways. The entire project was actually completed within 10 years.
The emotions of the other kings were also similar.
Ezekiel Oppenheir let out a sigh and comnted, " Maybe if we did not have those trucks and those large tractors that can dig by themselves, it would take another 10 years. "
This point everyone agreed on. Until a few years ago, the status of the canal was a lot of work had been done, but it still had a long way to go. But after the newly manufactured trucks and large excavation tractors were put into use, the work progress was like upgrading from a 5G network to a fibre optic network. Things progressed extrely quickly, and before they could understand what was really happening, the work was already done.
The ritual finally ca to an end, and it was ti to do the honours.
Agni eagerly went behind a smooth-bore cannon and held the thread connecting the flintlock chanism with excitent.
Ezekiel Oppenheir, Georgios Paleologos, Hassan, and Alfonso were no different. As part of the defence system, the canal’s opening was lined with artillery pieces mounted directly onto the wall embanknts. The kings and leaders each took their place behind one of the cannons, holding the thread connected to the flintlock chanism, all of them aiming toward the concrete wall in the distance.
The Vedic chants beca weaker and weaker until the last swaha, the ending syllable, was uttered, and it was like the green light in an F1 event.
"BOMMM!"
Five gunshots rang out from the five cannons, their sounds superimposing over one another to create a single, thunderous boom that made the crowd startle, shriek in fear, and take a few steps back. But before they could realise, the dam that was keeping the water of the diterranean Sea out of the canal was in ruins. The water kept gushing in like a tsunami through the cracked and damaged walls.
"One more!"
Agni shouted and reloaded the cannon himself. The other kings, looking at the dam wall, understood that it would need another barrage to completely collapse it, so they had the soldiers reload the cannon, and once again, they all pulled the trigger simultaneously.
"BOOM!"
This ti, it did it. It was no longer a simple crack; the whole wall burst open as the water pushed it down with great force, sending water mist into the air, and the canal was flooded almost instantly.
"Glug!"
"Glug!"
"Glug!"
The sound of the water flowing through the canal sounded like a torrential flood, and in no ti, the water reached Ismailia, a small town that had been built for the workers and engineers of the canal to settle in.
The workers who stood at the banks throughout the canal cheered in joy, as the canal they had dug was finally put into operation.
And only a few kilotres in front of the Great Bitter Lake basin, a bunch of engineers waited with bated breath.
" It’s coming "
An engineer shouted as he felt the rumble in the ground.
The other engineers were imdiately alerted and looked towards the north with anticipation, and sure enough, a flood of water was rushing towards them, but instead of fear, they started to get excited, because right behind them, the canal was not dry; it was filled with water from the Red Sea and the Great Bitter Lake.
Soon, the water from the diterranean Sea was before them, and before they could react, it ca crashing onto the stale water of the Great Bitter Lake.
"Boom!"
It almost caused an explosion, with water jumping dozens of tres into the air, creating rainbow light as the water mist scattered.
If they were Jamaican maybe they would be screaming Bumbaclot! But since they were high-IQ, low-EQ engineers, they laughed and scread like retards.
"Hahaha"
"Ahhhhh!"
All the engineers laughed heartily. What this ant was that from now on, for the ships of the Bharatiya Empire to enter Europe, they did not have to traverse around Africa, but simply go into the Red Sea and enter the diterranean, and they were the ones who made it possible.
Senior engineers, chief engineers, junior engineers or even workers, it did not matter; all hugged each other and happily danced around. The hats they were wearing were finally thrown into the air, and the bitterness that they would be separating now that their work was completed began to set in. The Suez Canal project was a joint project completed by the Bharatiya engineers, Israeli managers and Egyptian and Greek labourers. It was the source of inco for a lot of people; it fed hundreds of thousands of people directly or indirectly every year, but it is no more.
However, for sothing new to begin, sothing has to end, and the tale of the engineers, managers and labourers was not a sad one. The top engineers got dividend options from the Suez Canal Company, making them set for life over here. The managers received a special permit for setting up businesses in the Dakshina Mukhi Port. As for the labourers, they got the option to continue to work for the canal company or go back to their kingdoms and look for other jobs after getting a large bonus.
Due to the diterranean Sea being at a slightly higher elevation than the Red Sea, despite the two water bodies colliding, the water continued to flow from north to south, so for the first ti, water was flowing out of the Great Bitter Lake basin and into the Gulf of Suez.
What Agni and the four leaders of the four countries did not know was that the undercurrent was surging in Europe, threatening to burst at a mont’s notice.
P.S.Bumbaclot!!!
