The two of them were about to hurry off when Galthor called them back. "Why don’t you pray for luck?"

It was sothing that Galthor had thought about. Could he also give luck? Right now, he didn’t know the extent of the lesser miracles he could grant. Maybe he could do more, and so he would always suggest things to his masters to test things out.

Karathra and Brakthar nodded and then began to pray without hesitation. And although their prayer wasn’t answered with any physical effect, they felt so kind of contentnt in their minds. After that, they thanked Unchanging Warth.

At the sa ti, the two of them hurried along.

Galthor watched them leave, and suddenly he felt a misgiving in his mind. "Should I have followed them?"

"But now that you left the rchant, don’t you think we’ll return and find the slave sold already?" Karathra asked curiously.

"The rchant wants to sell the slaves he brought over in an auction. Those black market rchants will do anything to rake in the highest amount of money," Brakthar said.

"Black rchant?"

"Yes. They’re the only ones that will trade with the Revolutionary base. And they’re the ones that will dare to sell an enchanter. I don’t know if the other banners would be interested in this, but we can’t just back down."

Karathra gave him a surprised look. "You sound as if the mont the other banners are interested, we can’t buy the slave."

Brakthar snorted. "You know as well as I do that we don’t hold a candle to the others in terms of, well... everything. We don’t even have the intelligence to make decisions on this matter. Do we know what’s happening outside to cause a ripple over an enchanter getting sold? Who exactly is the rchant? Where is he from? Who’s he working for?"

Karathra was impressed by Brakthar. Contrary to popular opinion, barbarians are not dull even with their thick skulls. But the long years of slavery made many of them remain silent instead of using their little energy to start thinking about useless things.

At the end, even the luxury of free thought belongs to the free.

"It seems you’re enjoying your job as... whatever it is you do," Karathra smiled softly.

Brakthar laughed. "Well, necessity made take up weapons. Right, we’re in the outskirts now."

They walked among the rows of people that lined the road, their figures looming over everyone and making them clear the road as they passed.

It’s one of the benefits of being so tall and intimidating.

They walked to the center of the small town where a mass of people had gathered: winged people, Kobolds, Xyrrh, and even humans and so other races.

Temporary tents and stalls had been set up with different goods on display, and the rchants were calling everyone passing by to get their hands on sothing. From herbs to potions, enchanted weapons, and ho equipnt to animals and food—lots and lots of things that Karathra found overwhelming at first as she kept whipping her head around to take everything in.

But she soon got used to things. "Brakthar, you thick-headed barbarian! You didn’t tell that this is the kind of thing you always see on market days! If I were you, I’d surely buy everything!"

Brakthar grinned. "That’s why we have a priority list! If not, who knows what I would bring ho to the Chief? He’d surely call our god’s lightning on us."

Karathra snorted, walking forward peacefully as others squeezed out of the way to accommodate the barbarians. Nobody wanted to stand in their way.

They went to the very center of the town where the biggest tent was set up with raised wooden chairs and lights.

"The rchant that’s selling the slaves is called Birdy. rchant Birdy."

"That’s a weird na."

"You’ll understand when you see him. He’s the unofficial leader of all the rchants here. They more or less work for him. But the curious thing is that he does not work for the Revolutionary base or the Howling."

Karathra frowned.

Brakthar continued. "As you know, the Howling is far bigger than this place. They have lots of partners, especially in anything that runs from light. The black rchants and black markets are examples of this, so anyti a new Revolutionary base is set up, the partners co over as well."

Karathra blinked. "Right. I always forget we are also Howling. We can even form our own connections with the different partners as a banner. Wait, does the Chief know about this?"

Brakthar blinked back. "Yes? He’s the Chief, right?"

They both shared a look. Of course, Galthor Stronghide is the Chief and the best, but at the sa ti, he’s the most clueless about things that everyone knows.

Brakthar rubbed his neck. "Alright, we’ll tell him once we’re back. For now, let’s focus on why we are here. At the mont, I think they’re auctioning weapons. We’ll wait for the slave section."

They entered the tent and found a place to squeeze in. Karathra placed her axe in the middle of her lap and quickly looked around to know what she should be wary of.

The winged people sent Commander Casper and three other masters. The sa with the Kobolds—they sent four masters, and the Xyrrh also sent four.

Only the barbarians sent two, but then again, with those two, they were still the strongest in the tent. Karathra alone was worth three or four masters depending, and with his relic, Brakthar’s power had also increased.

The masters silently acknowledged one another and then continued to watch the auction. Only the Xyrrh people seed interested in buying the weapons, apart from those who didn’t co directly from any of the banners.

Karathra focused her attention on the front where a small wooden stage was set up and different enchanted weapons were displayed. She snorted ntally because she was sure her weapon was better than all the things they were selling.

Brakthar also sat patiently and watched.
