Gu Xu nodded, "No problem, I’ll call your President Tan first."
As he spoke, Gu Xu took out his phone and dialed a number. The phone was quickly answered, and a cheerful voice ca from the other side:
"Brother Gu, what brings you to call today?"
Gu Xu instinctively glanced at the security guard in the underground parking lot and said, "Enough with the small talk. I need sothing from you. I’m downstairs at your company. Call the security and have them send us up."
The person on the other end was startled, probably not expecting Gu Xu to show up, but quickly recovered and said, "Alright, hang tight down there for a bit. I’ll have soone co down to get you."
Standing next to him, Huo Sining clearly sensed that there were several security personnel hidden around the underground parking lot. These personnel gave Huo Sining the sa impression as Wu Jun; they appeared to be well-trained individuals from the military.
After Gu Xu hung up the phone, in less than half a minute, the security personnel received the instructions from above. In a mont, the expression on the security guard’s face changed from grim to sunny, looking at Gu Xu and his wife with an ingratiating and sycophantic gaze:
"Young Master Gu, I’m truly sorry. I didn’t expect it was you. It’s just like the Dragon King Temple flooding; family not recognizing family..."
The security personnel had already sensed sothing from the phone call, knowing that these two people in front of him were not to be trifled with, so flattering words flowed freely from his mouth.
Gu Xu, being a soldier himself, naturally understood that these people were just doing their job according to the rules. Moreover, he knew that Tan Youming’s private hospital operated on the principle of confidentiality as its greatest selling point. To achieve this, the regulations had to be set extrely strictly, leaving no room for exceptions, lest loopholes be exploited.
"Alright, cut the chatter. We’ll wait here for a bit; you can get back to your work."
Gu Xu felt sick listening to the security personnel, thinking, "Who’s family with you? If this goes on, are you going to start calling us relatives?"
Seeing Gu Xu’s slightly impatient expression, the security guard didn’t stay longer and, after bowing respectfully to Gu Xu, swiftly blended back into hiding, who knows where.
Soon, the elevator descended to the underground parking lot, and a woman in her thirties stood at the elevator door. Seeing Gu Xu, she imdiately broke into a bright smile:
"Mr. Gu, what brings you here? Please co in, Lao Tan is in a eting, let take you upstairs."
Seeing the woman, Gu Xu’s expression brightened, and he nodded with a smile, "Sister-in-law, long ti no see. Let introduce, this is my wife, Huo Sining."
Turning to Huo Sining, he introduced, "Wife, this is Brother Tan’s wife, Xie Miaomiao."
Following the introduction, Huo Sining reached out her hand and shook hands with the woman, calling out with Gu Xu, "Sister-in-law."
Xie Miaomiao smiled with her eyes subtly observing Huo Sining, sizing her up silently for a few monts, saying, "I saw your August wedding online; it was quite grand. The wedding dress, sister-in-law, was truly beautiful, it made envious. Haha, it’s just a pity that Lao Tan and I were not in the Imperial Capital at the ti, and missed your wedding, what a sha."
Huo Sining laughed, "We were quite busy back then; we neglected quite a few people. I only learned about you from Gu Xu today. We should keep in touch more often. To be honest, sister-in-law, I have so interest in dicine myself. We can exchange ideas whenever we have ti."
Xie Miaomiao’s eyes lit upon hearing this, "Really?! That’s wonderful. Since returning to the country with Lao Tan, I’ve been busy with work every day, and hardly have any friends. It’s been dreadfully boring."
The three of them chatted while heading upstairs, quickly reaching the top floor.
Though the office building was converted into a private hospital, it actually more resembled a company in setting. The decorations and workspace arrangents had a touch of Arican styling. But once entering the hospital, one could sense a severe, secretive atmosphere. For those seeking treatnt here, this kind of environnt was probably quite effective.
At Tan Youming’s office, Huo Sining and Xie Miaomiao engaged in a spirited discussion and debate about traditional Chinese and Western dicine, imrsed in conversation when suddenly, the door was pushed open from outside. A bespectacled middle-aged man, about forty, entered. He appeared sowhat surprised by the lively atmosphere in the room, slightly hesitated, and then walked further inside.
"Here? Is this the sister-in-law?"
Walking inside, the middle-aged man asked, his gaze towards Huo Sining carrying a hint of a smile.
Huo Sining imdiately knew who the newcor was; this must be the expatriate doctorate, Tan Youming, that Gu Xu ntioned.
"Hello Brother Tan, I’m Huo Sining."
Huo Sining stood up confidently and smiled at the newcor.
Tan Youming nodded slightly, looked toward Gu Xu, "You wouldn’t visit the Three Treasures Hall for nothing. You ntioned there was sothing you needed when you were downstairs, why couldn’t it be said over the phone, that you, such a busy person, had to co in person?"
Gu Xu glanced at the doorway, and seeing Gu Xu’s hesitant expression, Tan Youming realized sothing was up, imdiately signaling to Xie Miaomiao.
Seeing the cue, Xie Miaomiao quickly closed the blinds in the room, then discreetly shut the office door as she left.
"Go ahead."
Tan Youming spoke to Gu Xu and his wife.
Gu Xu looked at his wife and, seeing that Huo Sining showed no signs of resistance or discomfort, finally felt reassured enough to speak:
"Here’s the situation: today during lunch, my wife had a sip of chicken soup, and started feeling uncomfortable in the stomach, puking continuously. My mother and others called in the family doctor."
Gu Xu recounted the events at the Gu family’s old residence, and upon hearing, Tan Youming’s mouth involuntarily twitched, looking at the couple incredulously:
"You an your wife is pregnant?"
Gu Xu nodded.
Tan Youming was imdiately overwheld, "Has your brain gone fluid? Don’t you know the kind of people I cater to here? Those who co here are either mistresses hiding from public view or young people accidentally getting pregnant. You both being legitimate spouses, a pregnancy is normal; even if people find out, it’s no big deal. Is all this secrecy necessary?"
