Chapter 593: Chapter 595: Is He That Terrifying?
The next day, a fine drizzle floated down from the sky. The pitter-patter of raindrops on the green tiles and gray bricks emitted a crisp and pleasant sound.
Pei Haolan had woken up early, neatly dressed, he ca to Lih Luo’s door and knocked.
Monts later, the door creaked open. Lih Luo stood at the doorway with her long hair draped loosely around her, wearing a thin nightgown, her eyes still not fully open.
Without even looking at who was standing at the door, she carelessly turned and walked back in.
“Luo Xue, why are you up so early today?” Lih Luo asked, yawning.
Pei Haolan couldn’t help but let out a light chuckle upon seeing the groggy little woman.
It turned out she had mistaken him for her personal maidservant.
No wonder she was dressed like that, acting so unconstrained in front of him.
When Lih Luo heard no response and looked back, she saw the person with a smiling face and forgot to close her mouth.
Pei Haolan walked over and lifted her chin, “Morning.”
“Miss, you…”
A loud “clang” interrupted them, and Pei Haolan and Lih Luo both turned their heads to look.
Luo Xue stood there, stunned, as the basin she was holding crashed to the floor.
Lih Luo ca back to her senses and imdiately scolded, “How can you be so careless? Now, step back.”
Pei Haolan touched his nose and looked at the mistress and servant, asking, “Am I that frightening?”
Lih Luo hurriedly shook her head, as Luo Xue was about to bow and leave but was stopped.
“Wait a mont.”
Luo Xue’s hand holding the empty basin tightened, while Lih Luo bowed to plead, “Third Prince, please forgive her. Luo Xue isn’t usually this flustered at work. It’s probably because she saw the Third Prince today, so she’s a bit nervous. I hope the Third Prince will pardon her this once.”
Luo Xue turned, too, and “thump” fell to her knees, saying tremulously, “Third Prince, please forgive .”
Pei Haolan blinked innocently. He seed to have said nothing at all, so what were this mistress and servant doing? Was he really that terrifying?
“When did I ever bla her?”
The mistress and servant looked up in surprise, having heard that the Third Prince was strict with the maidservants in the house, and anyone who made a slight error would be cast out.
Pei Haolan helped Lih Luo to her feet, “After breakfast, let’s go out for a walk. I heard you often visit the Book Fragrance Courtyard, this ti I’ll accompany you.”
With that, he strode outside.
Amid her surprise, Lih Luo felt even more joy. She believed that it was her sincerity that had moved the Third Prince, and this was exactly what she had been hoping for.
Luo Xue on the ground hadn’t co to her senses yet and was still trapped in fear, worried about whether she would be thrown out.
Lih Luo, seeing Luo Xue unresponsive for a long while, pushed her on the shoulder, “What are you spacing out for?”
Luo Xue jolted, quickly looking up, “Ah? Miss, I’m here.”
“Then hurry up and help dress up.” Lih Luo urged.
Luo Xue was still a bit dazed until Lih Luo said, “You must dress up nicely today, as I will be visiting the Book Fragrance Courtyard with the Third Prince.”
“The Third Prince is going with Miss?”
“Yes, so today we must make your mistress look bright and beautiful, we can’t let the Third Prince down.”
Luo Xue was overjoyed, as if her mistress had finally seen the clouds disperse and the moon shine through.
The dressing table was set with various exquisite and luxurious ornants and jewelry, all of which the mistress liked.
Luo Xue picked up a Phoenix Hairpin to fasten it for her, and Lih Luo nodded in satisfaction. Then, she chose a red brocade embroidered dress and changed into it before stepping out.
Lih Luo looked at herself in the mirror, feeling radiant and very beautiful.
Luo Xue, watching Lih Luo’s charming and enchanting appearance, couldn’t help but inwardly sigh that her mistress finally knew her most beloved color.
Seeing Luo Xue’s dazed look, Lih Luo couldn’t resist tapping her on the head, “What are you staring at?”
“Oh, oh!” Luo Xue snapped back to reality, “Miss, you really look gorgeous today, I almost got lost in looking at you.”
At that, Lih Luo chuckled.
“Enough, quit your blarney.”
As Lih Luo walked out of the room, Pei Haolan saw her dressed up and his eyes lit up. He coughed awkwardly, “Co, let’s have breakfast.”
The two of them had breakfast together for the first ti, and neither spoke during the al.
After breakfast, Pei Haolan ordered a carriage to be prepared and, taking the umbrella from Luo Xue, held it high between them, slightly tilted towards Lih Luo’s side.
“That’s great, our Miss won’t have to suffer those people’s bullying anymore.”
The Book Fragrance Courtyard was not far from Pei Haolan’s mansion, a short carriage ride of about the ti it takes to drink a cup of tea.
The Book Fragrance Courtyard was located near the bustling East Street, surrounded by nurous shops and throngs of rchants, creating a lively atmosphere.
The courtyard occupied a wide area and was decorated sumptuously, with an antique charm.
Lih Luo glanced at the signboard and then stepped inside.
The manager of Book Fragrance Courtyard recognized Lih Luo and, knowing her identity, quickly ca to greet her. When he saw the person following her, his eyes widened in an instant.
“This servant pays respects to the Third Prince, the Third Princess Consort.”
“You’re excused,” Pei Haolan said with a gentle smile.
The manager hurriedly led them upstairs, “Masters, please, this way to the elegant room.”
The elegant room was arranged with grace and comfort. Luo Xue followed behind, quietly observing the surroundings.
“Third Prince, Prince’s Consort, I will go prepare a pot of tea for you.”
“Very well, thank you for the trouble,” Pei Haolan replied courteously.
Luo Xue was a bit shocked, even suspecting that she might have heard a hallucination just now?
