Chapter 205: Chapter 206: Believing that the Blood Test of Kinship is Fake Chapter 205: Chapter 206: Believing that the Blood Test of Kinship is Fake By now, many commoners had gathered outside the doors, craning their necks to witness the scene where Chu Yu and Old Madam Chu were to have their blood tested for kinship.

When they saw that the blood in the bowl indeed didn’t blend, Old Madam Chu imdiately stood up, “No, that’s impossible!”

“Did you drug the water? There’s no way my blood and my grandmother’s wouldn’t blend!” cried Chu Yu, equally agitated.

Luo Jiner joined in, “Exactly, she must have drugged the water, causing such an outco, all to confuse and deceive us.”

Shao He faced the skepticism and explained, “As I’ve said before, each person’s blood type is different, and only blood of the sa type will blend. A kinship rely indicates a higher likelihood of having the sa blood type.”

However, her explanation was incomprehensible to the crowd, who looked back at her with bewildered eyes.

“What’s this about blood types? Stop spouting nonsense and deceiving us who don’t understand any of these things!” accused Luo Jiner, a hint of panic flickering in her eyes.

Shao He glanced at her indifferently and ignored her, instead addressing everyone inside, “Every word I have spoken is true, and should even half a lie escape my lips, let lightning strike dead.”

“Do you dare to swear on that?” Chu Yu pressed her confrontationally.

Without hesitation, Shao He raised her right hand, “If I, Shao He, deceive any of you today, may I be struck by lightning and never find peace in death.”

Chu Yu was montarily silenced by her resolution, unsure whether to press further or to let the matter rest.

Seeing the crowd’s lingering doubts, she ordered the servant boy to bring several bowls of clean water.

“What is Doctor Shao planning to do?”

“Who knows, but by the look on Doctor Shao’s face, she’s probably not lying.”

“Could it be that this blood test for kinship really doesn’t work?”

Amidst the crowd’s questioning, the servant boy quickly ca over with a tray, on which lay four or five bowls of clear water.

Shao He turned to look at the commoners at the door, picked out a few onlookers and said to them, “I’m going to trouble a few of you to pair up, prick your fingers, and drop your blood into the bowls of water.”

Eager to know whether the blood test really worked, the crowd paired up and pricked their fingers to drop their blood into the water.

Soon, two samples blended together.

“No, this can’t be!”

“Indeed, this is absolutely impossible!”

The two people who witnessed the blending blood in their bowls looked on with astonished expressions, certain that there could not possibly be any kinship between them.

Because these two had no relation whatsoever and were indeed total strangers to one another.

With the matter coming to this point, the truth was crystal clear: Shao He was right; the thod of blood testing for kinship was unreliable as evidence for verifying kinship.

This revelation brought a glimr of hope to Chu Yu’s eyes – if this was the case, could Xiao Linzhang indeed be his child?

And Shao He’s determination to prove her innocence also ant she didn’t want him to harbor any misunderstandings, still harboring affection for him. This thought caused the corners of Chu Yu’s mouth to turn up ever so slightly.

Luo Jiner, noticing the person on the kang bed, knew that if this situation failed, Chu Yu would surely pin all the bla on her, and she was very clear about the consequences she would face.

“No, it’s not like this,” she muttered.

“Shao He is a doctor; she must know how to mix sothing into the water to make the blood types blend. It must be her trickery – the blood test for kinship is an ancient thod!” Luo Jiner cried out desperately, refusing to accept the situation.

Now her only chance was at stake, for if she failed, she would never be able to rise again.

Seeing such an agitated person, Shao He imdiately instructed the servant boy to bring alum and butter.

“Doctor Shao, how will these two substances be used?” soone from the commoners asked.

Shao He smiled enigmatically without responding.

It was only after the servant boy brought over the two items that she began to explain, “Alum enables blood that doesn’t blend to do so, and butter prevents blending blood from mixing.”

Shao He showed the crowd how to detect whether butter or alum had been added to the water, and under her validation, the commoners finally believed that everything she said was the truth.

Luo Jiner collapsed to the ground, mumbling to herself, “Impossible, utterly impossible, how could it end up like this, it wasn’t supposed to be like this!”

Yet her behavior was ignored by everyone, as all eyes were now fixed on Shao He, with Chu Yu asking with a thrill of hope, “So the child really is mine, right?”

“Am I indeed the child’s biological father?”

This sudden twist left Chu Yu so astounded that he didn’t know what to do.

“Yes, that’s wonderful, it turns out the child truly is of the Chu Family, this is fantastic!” Old Madam Chu, ecstatic, rubbed her hands together.

Seeing the two so excited, Shao He quickly displayed her household registry and emphasized, “The child’s biological father is deceased, and I have no relation with the Marquis’s Mansion. I urge the Marquis not to disturb us in the future to avoid hard feelings for everyone involved.”

Chu Yu, however, didn’t take offense, assuming that Shao He was just being petulant. The thought that the child was his filled him with imnse joy.

“Shao He, I wrongly accused you in a mont of urgency. In the future, I will make sure to properly make it up to you and the child,” he said.

But his words elicited no reaction from Shao He, who continued to gaze at him indifferently.

Sensing her cold stare, Chu Yu imdiately pretended his wound was paining him to garner sympathy.

“Doctor Shao, co quickly, my wound has torn open and there’s a dull pain,” he claid.

Shao He instantly saw through his feigned illness and, not bothering to engage with him, turned to leave.
