The next morning, the two continued their journey. If Yunxian was being honest, she was reluctant to leave the inn before having a round or two with him in bed. Alas, she must comply and follow the schedule.
They traversed valley upon valley, hiking treacherous mountain peaks. Oftentis, they have no choice but to enter another cultivation sect’s territory. Ash had prepared himself should another fight break out. However, the mont they saw his Grand Disciple token, both of them were granted a save passage.
Subsequently, the news about Tang Yigao’s Grand Disciple had passed down to Tang Sect’s scouts and reached Tang Yigao’s pavilion.
Two scouts kowtowed before the Grand Elder while he was training his Core Disciples at the courtyard.
"Report, Grand Elder! Lady Tang Yunxian and your Grand Disciple are on their way here!" One of the scouts reported, his breath was panting heavily.
"Halt!" Tang Yigao raised his hand. Soon, his Core Disciples stood in a poised stance.
Tang Yigao scowled at the scouts, usually he didn’t like his training session being disturbed. This ti, however, Tang Yigao’s face turned bright and happy.
"Are you certain?!"
"Yes, Grand Elder! Our scouts at Malevolent Tree Sect had reported the sightings of a young man who bore the Grand Disciple token!"
"Hahaha! He ca sooner than I expected! Very good! Prepare the welcoming party! You all must pay respect to him!"
"Right away, Grand Elder!"
A day later, Ash and Yunxian had arrived at the main entrance into the Tang Sect’s Mountain. Two wooden gates stood imposingly before them. Ash had never seen such majestic architecture before. The wooden gates were intricately carved with the epoch of Tang Family, tens of thousands years of history were immortalized on every fiber of the wood.
"Woaahh... How many trees were felled to build this gate?" Ash couldn’t stop looking up.
"Just one, actually. These gates were made of a branch that fell upon earth from the Sacred Tree of Life. Though the true origin of the wood is still debatable, these wooden gates had protected the Tang Sect since ten thousand years ago."
"That is insane! Which ans, these wooden gates are as old as Transcendence Rank Immortal Beasts!"
"More or less, yes." Yunxian giggled.
Before long, the twin gates were slowly swung open, the complex chanism powered by various Formation Arrays.
From afar, the gates were just slightly ajar. However, the gap between the two gates was around twenty ters or so.
Before the two, thousands of disciples from Outer Rank Disciple all the way up to the Core Disciple Rank stood before him.
"We greet the Grand Disciple!" The unified voice echoed in the valley.
Ash stood there in awkward silence, glancing at Yunxian.
"Did you send a letter to Master Yigao about our arrival?"
"Fufufu, why would I? Uncle Yigao is a resourceful person. He would know what would happen from light years away before you even notice it! He must be very happy to see you! Let’s go, we can’t let him wait any longer."
"Ah, yes. I couldn’t agree more."
Thus, the two were escorted toward the Mountain Peak by the Core Disciple. Along the way, Yunxian briefly explained about the Disciple Rank which commonly applied in many martial sects.
"Usually, a disciple would start from Outer Rank first after the initiation. The more rit they generate through their discipleship, the more privileges they would earn from the sect. As the Grand Disciple of a Grand Elder, your rank could be said as equal standing with an Elder."
"In other words, I’m able to order them to run so errands for ?"
"Naturally, Young Lord. However, you need to earn their trust first. Do you rember the golden rule in this realm?"
"Yeah, I do. The strong rule the weak. But, that’s not all. The strong must be able to protect, provide, and nurture the weak. That’s my ideal view, however."
Yunxian giggled softly. "I also share the sa idea. Uncle Yigao has been working so hard to provide and protect the sect with all his might. However, the sa cannot be said to Grand Elder Tang Sung. He believed in iron hand rules. For him, compassion is weakness, a bane for personal growth. In his view, the strong must dare to take everything for their own interests!"
Ash sighed. "A tyrant, huh? Usually, it is destined to be dood by the end of the day."
"On the other hand, Uncle Yigao was trapped in a dilemma. Should internal war break out, Tang Sect would eventually crumble, and the other Martial Sect would join the fray to pillage what was left from the war."
"Especially Wang Zhen." Ash recalled the old man’s offers after he drew Wang Zhaojun in an official match. "That old fox would surely co down from his mountain and burn Tang Sect to the ground. What a monster..."
Yunxian was quite surprised that he knew that na. "Where did you learn about Wang Zhen?"
"I drew his Grand Disciple in the Elimination Round. Luckily, he was prioritizing Wang Zhaojun safety over killing . Otherwise, I wouldn’t be here today."
The Core Disciples who heard the conversation soon turned pale. Wang Zhaojun was rumored to be a vicious female expert. One of the Ten Heavenly Geniuses in the Ten Sky Martial Art Tournant for the past decade.
"Ah, let’s worry about that later. Look, Master Yigak is here."
After trudging thousands of staircases, they finally arrived at the Tang Yigao’s pavilion’s courtyard.
The old man was wearing his erald hanfu robe, his white hair was pulled back into a hair bun.
"You are here, at last." He muttered, caressing his long beard.
"Grand Disciple Xiao Hûo has co to greet the Grand Elder!" Ash played his role perfectly, and sincerely also. He deeply moved by Tang Yigao’s kindness and determination to protect these young Cultivators to follow the path of righteousness.
anwhile, Tang Yigao smiled in satisfaction. "En, I have been inford about your arrival just yesterday."
"I am terribly sorry for not informing you beforehand, Grand Elder Yigao."
"Please, do not fret it. Co inside, you must be very tired." Tang Yigao then glanced at his niece who was still wearing a silk shroud. "You too, my niece. Let’s talk over a cup of tea."
"Yes, Uncle Yigao."
