Feng Yizhou moved effortlessly around the kitchen, rolling up his sleeves as he opened the fridge. Qingran leaned against the couch, watching him with barely concealed suspicion.

"What are you making?"

"You’ll see." He pulled out a few ingredients, setting them on the counter. His movents were confident, practiced even, which only made Qingran more wary.

"You cook often?" she asked, arms crossed.

"On occasion," he admitted, grabbing a knife. "Can’t always rely on takeout."

Qingran narrowed her eyes. "I still don’t trust it."

Feng Yizhou chuckled as he started chopping. "You wound , darling."

She rolled her eyes but didn’t argue. The rhythmic sound of the knife against the cutting board filled the space, surprisingly soothing.

After a few minutes, a savory aroma filled the air, making Qingran’s stomach betray her with an audible growl. Feng Yizhou smirked but said nothing, only plating up the dish and setting it in front of her.

Qingran eyed the food, hesitating. "You didn’t poison it, did you?"

Feng Yizhou gave her an unimpressed look. "If I wanted to poison you, I wouldn’t use food."

She clicked her tongue but picked up the chopsticks anyway, taking a cautious bite. The mont the flavors hit her tongue, her expression shifted slightly.

"...It’s not bad," she muttered.

Feng Yizhou grinned. "High praise coming from you."

She ignored him, focusing on her al instead. The bastard was already insufferable—no need to inflate his ego any further.

As they ate, the atmosphere settled into sothing almost comfortable, though Qingran remained on guard. Feng Yizhou, however, looked entirely at ease, watching her with that ever-present smirk.

When she finally finished, she set her chopsticks down and leaned back. "Alright. You’re alive, you can cook, and I’ve confird both. I’m leaving now."

Feng Yizhou tutted, shaking his head. "Leaving so soon? We haven’t even gotten to dessert."

Qingran shot him a flat look. "I don’t trust you when you say dessert."

His grin widened. "Smart girl."

Watching her with a lazy smile. "Stay the night."

"No."

"Why not?"

"Because I have a mission to complete in three days, and I can’t waste ti here," she said flatly.

Feng Yizhou raised a brow, his amusent only deepening. "So you admit being here with is a waste of ti?"

Qingran gritted her teeth, hating how he twisted her words. "You know what I an."

He humd, stepping closer, his warmth brushing against her back. "You could stay just for a few hours. Rest a little. I’m very comfortable, you know."

She scoffed, pushing open the door. "You being comfortable is exactly why I need to leave."

He studied her for a mont, then finally stepped back, letting her go. "Alright, alright. But at least let walk you out."

She rolled her eyes but didn’t argue, knowing he’d do it regardless.

As they walked toward the exit, Feng Yizhou glanced at her. "Are you sure you don’t need a little more ti? Just a few more minutes?"

"I’m sure."

"Five more?"

"Goodbye, Feng Yizhou."

She stepped out without looking back.

Feng Yizhou sighed dramatically, watching her disappear into the night. "She didn’t even say she’d miss ."

I miss her already.

Qingran took a deep breath when she got into the car, it wasn’t that late yet, only 9:27pm.

Tomorrow she had work from 7 up until 4pm. She still had 7 people to had to her save list. Included that so called older brother of hers.

As for the remaining 6, she tought about the people that had left a long lasting impression on her and the ones that had been real with her.

"Lingquan what is the percentage of the people I’m adding to Save list, who actively participated in the last apocalypse?"

[Ding! From what I know, the kids you t today we’re turned to zombies and t their end in your hands and as for Anya, the cause of her death is unknown. 85% of the people you’re going to add to this list are going to participate in the apocalypse one way or the other and the remaining 15% will be turned to zombies or die along the way.."

"I see. I rember so of my teammates that really helped . It wouldn’t be a bad idea to protect them for the second ti. Hopefully I’m not making a bad decision this ti.."

With that she fird her resolve and started the work.

Hopefully this brother of hers was close by.

Qingran drove through the quiet streets, her fingers tapping lightly against the steering wheel as she ran through her plan. Seven people left to add to the Save List. Seven people whose fates could change because of her choices.

She wasn’t one to play hero, but after everything she’d been through, she knew how cruel the apocalypse could be. If she could shift even a few fates in the right direction, then why not?

"Lingquan, cross-check the list of people I intend to save with the original tiline. Any significant differences?"

[Ding! The biggest difference is that you’re actively preventing deaths that were originally fixed points. If your interference continues, the tiline will shift unpredictably.]

Qingran scoffed. "So you’re saying I’m ssing with fate? Good."

Lingquan sighed in her mind. [You’re impossible.]

A smirk tugged at her lips as she pulled up to a red light. "What about my so-called brother? Where is he now?"

[Ding! I will track his location. For now you should get so rest]

Qingran nodded as she got to her apartnt complex, but when she got to her doorstep, she couldn’t believe the person she t on her doorstep.

She stared at a boy not older than 15 as he imdiately got up.

"Older sister Qingran, do you rember ? It’s Tang Haoyu. Older sister Qing I’m so sorry.."

Qingran frowned. Tang Haoyu? The na tugged at sothing deep in her mory, but before she could even respond, the boy suddenly dropped to his knees.

Tears spilled down his cheeks as he gripped the hem of her coat, his small fra trembling violently. "I’m sorry! I’m so sorry!" His voice cracked, raw with emotion. "I—I should have protected you! I should have been stronger! I should have—" His words broke off into a choked sob.

Qingran’s breath hitched. Her fingers twitched at her sides, unsure of what to do.
