Chapter 1500: Chapter 1472: If There Cos a Day, Rember to be Happy
Mario Yuno stayed at the company headquarters, surrounded by a dozen people, all of whom were staring intently at Aka’s email inbox.
These people were all volunteering overti for Kiara, and everyone had decided to take turns resting to ensure there were enough hands on deck for the investigation. Busy with work during the day and helping with the search at night, the massive workload didn’t elicit a single complaint from the team, because Mario himself had gone several days without rest, waiting for a reply.
He had previously waited at Aka’s place, but after half a day with no results, he returned to the company headquarters to track people’s exit records while still keeping an eye on the email.
“There’s a reply!”
This exclamation invigorated everyone, and Mario rushed over imdiately.
Molly Palr replied to Aka, but the content left everyone disheartened.
“What’s this, it’s completely aningless,” Zenith Kyan pounded the table, utterly disappointed.
Molly Palr’s reply to Aka was just one sentence, “You’re worthless, just like when you were a kid.”
In addition, there was a photo of a broken fish tank with a few small fish inside.
It seed like nothing more than a normal chat between sisters, lacking any clues.
Mario frowned. He enlarged the photo to take a closer look at the fish.
“No need to look, they’re just ordinary tropical fish,” Zenith glanced and said dispiritedly, “Tony Stone has a tank of these things at ho, so cost hundreds and are so expensive yet not as sturdy as the koi in the pond at the housing complex entrance. They die if the water isn’t right…”
Mario shook his head, “No, these aren’t ordinary fish; this is a clue—”
The phone rang; it was Aka calling.
“Langa, I saw her reply to , but it doesn’t seem to an anything…” Like everyone else, Aka, who hadn’t slept while watching the computer, went from excitent to dejection upon receiving the email.
“Aka, did you and she have anything to do with fish when you were kids?”
“Fish? Nothing much. There were so many fish we ate, I can’t rember which tasted the best.”
That’s how a foodie’s mind works, always on the topic of eating.
“Think harder, have you ever eaten any fish that was especially delicious, or do you have any special mories related to fish, or maybe you kept so?”
“Let think… Oh, yes, the year before she left the orphanage, I caught so little fish for her in the river. They died after only a few days, and she cried with for a long ti.”
“What was the na of the orphanage you were in? Where was it located?”
“Westminster, in Country West.”
Mario hung up, “Search, search for every city, street nad Westminster in all the countries, including orphanages nearby with that na—leave no stone unturned.”
“…Vice president, isn’t that scope too broad?” Zenith asked.
Mario pointed at the fish in the photo, “Start with the original habitat of this fish. If there’s a match with both conditions, that’s our target.”
With this focused inquiry, it didn’t take half an hour before they had a lead, pinpointing a location.
Mario clenched his fists, “Hang on, daughter-in-law, I am on my way!”
Upon learning that Mario had a lead, Yuzo Joel quickly arranged for his private airplane for him. They set off for the destination overnight, and Mario, exhausted, dozed off on the plane.
In his dream, Kiara was bullied and whipped; she cried out for her husband.
“Ah!” Mario woke up with a start.
He realized it was just a dream.
The images from the dream left his heart pounding, worried that his daughter-in-law was suffering on the outside.
Impatient with the slow pace of the airplane, Mario grew even more agitated upon learning it would be several more hours before they would land. On the rescue mission for Kiara aside from Yuzo’s n, Camden’s elites accompanied him too.
Ever since Kiara got married, she had impressively helped resolve many crises, such as the Mr. Mike Incident, the Serial Killer Incident, and for the past two years, she often participated in operations as an ally. The higher-ups had always kept an eye on her, especially after she beca a disciple of Yuzo. Once she gained prominence internationally, she caught the attention of that departnt. Had Kiara not encountered trouble, once she completed her Doctorate, she would have beco one of the foremost authorities in Psychology.
Normally, Mario would have been proud of his daughter-in-law; she had achieved what others couldn’t in decades and was unquestionably a dostic elite in her field.
But at this mont, all he wished for was ti to hurry up, to move faster, so that he could fly to her side, fearful that the cruel scenes in his dream would beco a reality.
His poor Kiara, how much must she suffer out there—
But she didn’t.
Dreams are often the opposite of reality.
Far from suffering, Kiara ate well and, with “Cousin” looking out for her, she thrived in the den of thieves like she had an ace in the hole.
When she wanted to act normal, she cooperated with the others in their tests and experints when she didn’t, she struck people with her hand at the slightest provocation, and threw whatever she could grab at those she disliked. Because Jas Norris said not to provoke her, everyone, including Matt Bailey, put up with her and pretended she didn’t exist.
After eating, Kiara went to seek out Molly and knocked rhythmically on her door, singing nursery rhys, until she irritated Molly enough to get her out of bed. Kiara was surprised as soon as she saw her open the door.
“How did you…”
Molly was covered in injuries, a frightening sight to behold.
“Cut the crap and spit it out!”
“Did he do this?”
“What’s it to you? If you’ve got nothing, then bugger off and let rest!”
Kiara looked at Molly for a few seconds, with words on the tip of her tongue but ultimately did not speak.
Before coming here, Mrs. Kiara had always disliked Molly and everyone affiliated with JR. But after staying with them, she began to realize sothing.
No one is born bad; the people themselves aren’t the frightening part, it’s the bastards who turned them into what they are now.
With that thought, Mrs. Kiara once again felt the urge to set a house ablaze; Matt Bailey surely deserved divine punishnt.
Bringing up painful pasts was unkind, so Kiara turned to leave, pretending she hadn’t seen Molly’s wounds. But Molly stopped her.
“If one day, you get your mory back, or see her in a dream again, give her a ssage for .”
“What’s that?”
“Be happy.”
Kiara didn’t understand why she said that, and Molly didn’t explain, slamming the door shut and leaning against it impatiently.
“You can leave now, too!”
Kiara vaguely sensed there was more to Molly’s words than t the eye, but couldn’t figure it out. Just as she was about to go to sleep in her room, soone jumped in through the window, giving Kiara a fright.
“Shh, it’s !”
