Mario quickly supported her, and Kiara collapsed into his arms, frightening Mario enough to pale in shock.
He hadn’t even had ti to recover from the joy of being a father before he was startled like this.
“Pregnant won shouldn’t have blood transfusions… so we suggest Auntie donates blood. Although direct relatives are not usually recomnded because it might lead to immune reactions in blood transfusions between them, at worst causing transfusion-associated graft-versus-host disease, which is a transfusion complication we always try to avoid. “Why couldn’t she detect it herself at ho?” He rembered Kiara had just said she couldn’t find out.
“Did she test with a ho pregnancy test? It’s normal not to detect it if the pregnancy is too early.”
“Ah…” Mario finally understood. No wonder his daughter-in-law had been acting so strangely lately, eating like a kitten.
They’d planned for so long without success, and then suddenly she was pregnant!
Mario Yuno’s emotions upon receiving definite proof were a mixture of sorrow and joy.
In normal tis he would have been extrely happy, perhaps even picking up Kiara and spinning her around, but now the whole family was concerned for Arlong’s safety. He felt there was no other man in the world who could understand the dual complexity of emotions he felt upon learning of his wife’s pregnancy – filled with joy but worried sick about his brother-in-law who was still in danger.
The stark contrast between ice and fire in his heart was indescribable; he could neither fully rejoice nor succumb to sadness.
It wasn’t appropriate to be hopping around while Arlong was lying there fighting for his life; he could only suppress the surprise in his heart, consoling his mother-in-law while looking for the obstetrician to examine Kiara.
A while later, Kiara woke up to find herself lying down. At first, she looked at the ceiling with unfocused eyes. Then, suddenly rembering Arlong was in danger, she sat up abruptly.
“Kiara!” Mario Yuno quickly held her hand, and that’s when she noticed him sitting by her side.
“Hurry! Take to donate blood for my brother!” She didn’t know why she had fainted, but the thought of Arlong filled her with urgency.
“Our mother has already given blood, it’s all right now.”
“No, I’m not reassured. I need to see Arlong. What’s happened to him?” Kiara asked anxiously.
“Arlong is fine now, don’t worry. Lie back down and rest, I need to tell you sothing—”
“To hell with not worrying, quickly take to see him!” Kiara’s voice was laced with Fire as she insisted.
She was desperate to see Arlong, but Mario Yuno held her down.
“You stay put, the doctor said you need to rest well. You can see Arlong once you’ve cald down.”
“How can I just calm down when my brother is like that?” The thought of Arlong’s uncertain fate started tears rolling down Kiara’s face.
She and Mario Yuno were now in a hospital double room, separated from another bed by a curtain. With the curtain drawn, it was just the two of them.
Mario Yuno had intended to let her down and take her to see Arlong, but after a mont’s thought, he pressed Kiara back down.
“Didn’t you always think he was no good? Anyway, that kid doesn’t appreciate all you do for him, so why do you still care about him so much?”
“Are you stupid, Mario Yuno? He’s my only brother. If I don’t care for him, who should I care for? I’m strict with him because I want him to follow the right path. But now, at this ti, you’re still stopping . If anything happens to him, I—”
At this point, Kiara’s voice broke, and tears ca streaming down.
“But you’re pregnant now; the doctor said you can’t donate blood.”

Mario Yuno hadn’t yet fully recovered from the shock of his daughter-in-law’s pregnancy. When he thought about what she had been through these past days, he broke into a cold sweat, terrified by the close call.
This child was truly blessed with a great destiny; just arriving in their mother’s womb and already having survived two major crises. If Mario had not had the nurse change the IV dicine, or if Kiara had drunk the chicken soup that day, the consequences were too dreadful to contemplate.
