Chapter 627: Liu Ling was made the cannon fodder of life (12)

Luo Ning, after having beaten up those few people, finally found so peace for a while.

Three days later, she finished her chores hurriedly and asked the brigade leader for a leave to go into the town.

Walking a distance from the village, she hid behind a deserted large tree and changed into a man’s makeup, then took out a bicycle from her space and rode towards the county.

On the way, she saw Luo Zhu, who had clearly spruced herself up, holding a basket of eggs.

This wicked woman must be going to the county hospital to see Jiang Congyi again.

Every ti Luo Ning thought of Wuya being beaten, her anger flared up again.

So, she took a gunny sack from her space and quickly rode her bicycle up beside Luo Zhu.

She threw the sack over her and started beating her; using skillful force, she targeted several spots that would hurt for days but would not leave any wounds.

“Ah ah ah, who is hitting ? You’ve got the wrong person!”

“Please stop hitting , sob sob…”

Luo Zhu noticed soone approaching, turned her head, and through blurry eyes, saw a man riding a bicycle towards her.

Then, she herself was covered with a sack and beaten by the other person.

In pain, she could not help but let her tears and snot flow, thinking that the other person had gotten the wrong person.

But her claims were ignored, and she could only plead as the beating continued.

After she had completely broken down, the other person finally stopped.

Then the basket in her hand was snatched away, and she was also kicked to the ground by the attacker.

It took her who knows how long to muster the strength to pull off the sack, enduring the pain.

Seeing that there was no one around and the basket was gone, she began to cry again, feeling wronged.

She wanted to go to the town to report to the police, but the pain was so intense that she could only endure it and slowly trudge ho, abandoning the idea of going to the town.

Upon reaching ho, Grandma hugged and weaned her for a while, cursing the person who had hit her daughter ceaselessly.

When Grandma checked for wounds, she found none.

How were they supposed to report this to the police?

When Eldest Luo and others found out, their first reaction was that Luo Sanya had hit their younger sister.

And they voiced this suspicion.

Luo Zhu, however, denied it, firmly insisting it was a man on a bicycle who had hit her, suspecting that he was after the eggs.

She was even contemplating revenge.

Eldest Luo and the others couldn’t fathom why soone who could afford to ride a bicycle would hit soone just for eggs.

But, facing the undeniable facts, they had to believe it.

Grandma even thought they had been too unlucky recently and decided to seek help from an old village witch, to dispel the bad luck.

On the other hand, Luo Ning put the stolen eggs into her space, planning to bring them back later for Wuya to eat.

The Luo family’s chickens were fed by the sisters, yet from childhood till now, none of them had eaten a single egg.

In Grandma’s eyes, girls did not deserve to eat such a prized item as eggs.

Of course, it was a different story for Grandma’s beloved daughter; such was her double standard.

Why should Luo Zhu take the eggs they fed to try and curry favor?

So, in venting her anger, she just took them along the way.

Arriving in town, Luo Ning took out a basket from a secluded corner, which was already packed with items.

Not only did it contain rice and noodles, but also a piece of pork belly and a slaughtered hen.

Following the agreed ti, she rode her bicycle to et the middle-aged man.

When she got there, he was already waiting.

Seeing her arrive, the middle-aged man’s face lit up with a big smile, and he sighed in relief.

He was worried the man wouldn’t co; he was still waiting to give away the food supplies.

The two exchanged a look, and the middle-aged man led Luo Ning to the entrance of one courtyard, pulling out a key to open the gate.

They pushed the cart inside.

When he saw what was in the basket, the middle-aged man’s eyes brightened.

“Brother, you really have skills to get both at and poultry. I’ll take them all.”

His mother had lost a lot of weight during her hospital stay, and old hen stew was the most nutritious; it would be good for her to recuperate.

Luo Ning smiled and said, “Not bad.”

The middle-aged man took out pre-prepared tickets and money and handed them to Luo Ning.

“Brother, how about we make this a long-term arrangent?”

The day he bought the food ho, his mother-in-law was also there, leading to him having to share half of it.

Everyone was particularly happy after eating since such fine grains were hard to co by. Even with money, you couldn’t buy them; everyone ca to him, asking him to find more.

So, he wanted to buy regularly from this man.

Luo Ning thought for a mont and said, “Okay, considering you are straightforward, I will co here every three to four days. Let know in advance if you need sothing specific.”

The middle-aged man’s eyes glead even brighter, “Will there be chicken and at next ti too?”

Luo Ning nodded, “Yes, as long as you na it, I can mostly find it for you.”

The middle-aged man’s smile deepened, and he imdiately listed a bunch of things he wanted, all food.

Fine grains, eggs, chicken, brown sugar, etc., all current necessities.

Luo Ning agreed.

She also set a fixed ti for their transactions; if she didn’t show up, it ant sothing had co up, and the middle-aged man shouldn’t wait.

If she didn’t show up three tis in a row, it might an she might not co anymore.

Over the next few weeks, Luo Ning visited the city every few days to trade with him, and they gradually beca more acquainted, even chit-chatting a bit before departing.

Then, she missed two visits, and it was on the third that she rushed over on her bicycle.

Seeing Luo Ning appear, the middle-aged man’s look was as warm as that of a relative lost for years.

While opening the courtyard gate, he said, “Brother Wu, you finally ca; I’ve been waiting for you!”

The previous two tis, he had waited here but hadn’t seen Brother Wu, and he didn’t manage to buy any supplies.

Not only had his wife and mother complained, but his mother-in-law was also unhappy.

So this ti, he constantly hoped Brother Wu would arrive quickly in his mind.

Fortunately, he showed up, or he would have felt like crying.

Recently, getting used to eating fine grains and occasionally at, going back to coarser foods didn’t sit well with not just his family but himself too.

Luo Ning smiled apologetically, “Brother Yu, sorry, I had so issues recently and couldn’t get out.”

Brother Wu was a random surna she had ntioned.

Yu Xianjin then noticed that Brother Wu’s arm was in a cast, “What happened to you?”

Luo Ning replied helplessly: “Last week, so friends and I went to the mountain to hunt so rabbits and wild chickens for fun, but unluckily, we lost our way and I fell down the slope.”

She added with a relieved expression, “Luckily, a young girl saved ; otherwise, I might have lost my life on that mountain.”

Yu Xianjin also breathed a sigh of relief, “That’s good, you truly have a fortune that protects you.”

Luo Ning smiled and said, “Yes! And thanks to that girl, but I’m just struggling to think of how to repay her.”

Yu Xianjin paused, “Why is that an issue? You’re not short on goods; you could give her more.”

Brother Wu, in his eyes, was capable, or he wouldn’t have been able to secure such scarce supplies unavailable even on the black market.

Luo Ning sighed, “I also planned on giving so food to the young girl, but after learning about her background, I realized that far water can’t quench a near thirst.”

She then roughly explained her own situation at the Luo family, including being injured by Grandma and being disowned and kicked out.

Unsurprisingly, Yu Xianjin showed an angry expression after hearing this, “That family is too much.”
