The next morning, Kaden's unexpected visit to the Miller mansion raised quite a few eyebrows. A man who had barely rembered his family since getting engaged, it was surprising to see him finding his way back to them.

"Uncle, did you lose your mory or sothing?" Eveline teased, giving Kaden a playful smirk.

He furrowed his brows at her remark, but before he could respond, she continued with a mischievous glint in her eyes.

"You must have lost your way here."

Laughter erupted around the dining table as the rest of the family joined in on the joke.

Erna, just as surprised as the others by her brother's sudden appearance, decided to prod further.

"Tell , Kaden, what brings you here?" She asked, playing along with her daughter's teasing, making sure her brother didn't get too comfortable.

Kaden sighed. "Do you want to leave? Because I'm really not liking these weird looks you're all giving ."

Jonathan, sitting beside him, reached out and patted his shoulder with a knowing grin.

"Oh, there's a lot more in store for you, Kaden. This is just the beginning."

His mischievous tone made Kaden roll his eyes in defeat.

"Fine. Tease all you want," he muttered, resigning himself to their antics.

The laughter died down slightly before Erna spoke up again.

"No, seriously. Why did you co alone? Why not bring Sherlyn?"

She had started growing fond of Sherlyn and enjoyed their conversations. The absence of Kaden's fiancée was sothing she couldn't overlook.

"I would have brought her if she didn't have an appointnt this morning," Kaden explained. "She's taken on a new case—an Alzheir's patient—and now she's entirely focused on their treatnt."

At the ntion of Alzheir's, Eveline's brows knitted together, her thoughts suddenly drifting to the woman she had stumbled upon recently.

"She seems quite competitive to take on such a difficult case," Erna said proudly, admiring Sherlyn's determination.

"Yes… and that's going to give sleepless nights," Kaden muttered under his breath.

"Eh? Did you say sothing, Kaden?" Jonathan asked, catching on to his silent complaint.

Kaden was quick to deny it, refusing to be dragged into yet another round of teasing. But before anyone could press further, the conversation shifted to a new topic.

After finishing breakfast at the Miller mansion, Kaden decided to head to the base to check on work progress. However, just as he was about to leave, Eveline followed him outside.

"Uncle, is it okay if you give a ride?" Eveline asked, her expression expectant.

But before Kaden could respond, she was already inside his car.

"Let's go, Uncle," she called from the window, leaving him utterly speechless at her nonchalance. Without a word, he walked to the driver's seat and got in.

Inside the car, Kaden made a conscious effort to avoid starting a conversation with Eveline. She had been teasing him nonstop lately. Not that he entirely minded, but sotis it was too much to handle.

However, ten minutes passed, and she still hadn't said a word.

"You've been teasing the entire ti. Why are you suddenly so quiet?" Kaden finally asked, abandoning his initial resolve.

Eveline turned to look at him, her expression unreadable, before shaking her head.

"You ntioned Aunt taking on an Alzheir's patient. Do you know her na?" She asked, piquing Kaden's curiosity.

He knew his niece wasn't the type to sit quietly when he was around. She made sure to pester him to the point where he sotis felt cursed to be her uncle. But her silence? That was just as unsettling, enough for him to drop his usual indifference.

"And why do you want to know?" Kaden asked, raising an eyebrow. "Are you planning to take a course on the disease or sothing?"

Eveline rolled her eyes at his teasing.

Still, when she remained persistent, Kaden decided to give in.

"Valeria Lee, I think," he said, recalling the na Sherlyn had ntioned.

Eveline pondered over the na, but it still didn't confirm anything.

Kaden, on the other hand, watched her as she spaced out.

"Now I understand why Gabriel is scared of your silence," he said, snapping her out of her thoughts.

Eveline lazily turned her gaze toward him, her lips twitching in annoyance, only for Kaden to chuckle in amusent.

"You really scare the hell out of him," he teased further.

"Are you tired of living, Uncle? Do you want to tell Aunt how you were complaining about her taking her job more seriously than you?"

Kaden's eyes widened in terror, instantly realizing he had walked into a trap. Eveline smirked, knowing she had the upper hand.

"You wouldn't dare!" he snapped, clearly rattled.

"I could...and I'm just one call away from her," Eveline teased, pretending to reach for her phone.

Panicked, Kaden instantly grabbed her hand, stopping her.

"Alright, alright! What is it you're thinking? Why the sudden interest in an Alzheir's patient?" he asked, steering the conversation back to the topic.

Eveline fell silent for a mont, her playful deanor fading.

"I t soone with the sa disease… and ever since then, I haven't been able to forget her," she admitted.

"And now you're suddenly intrigued by them?" Kaden asked, watching as Eveline gave him a knowing look.

He let out an exaggerated sigh. "You know, sotis I think it's great for young people like you to seek adventure. But diving into soone else's life? That's hardly the thrill you're looking for."

Eveline grinned cheekily. "Aren't we similar in that way, Uncle? You invaded my life by contacting , and look where that led us."

Kaden shook his head in defeat. There was no way he was going to win against her. Her debating skills were even sharper than her mother's.

At least Erna knew when to stop but Eveline... She was relentless.

"Alright, cut to the chase and tell everything," he said, giving in. "Just in case I can help."

"No, you can't," Eveline replied bluntly. "But Aunt Sherlyn can. So don't get your hopes up because I'll be eting her after work, not you."

"…"
