It has been three days in the hospital, and the family, already not well-off, saved every bit they could.

"But, the doctor said although it's a minor surgery, you still need to recover well and avoid any complications later," Zhang Hualian disagreed. Despite their poverty, her daughter's well-being was most crucial in her heart.

"Mom, you said I need to recover. It's the sa whether I recuperate here or at ho," Tang Yue convinced Zhang Hualian, and even spoke to the doctor herself, explaining her family's situation, and the doctor allowed her to be discharged.

"Xiao Yue, you take the bus, I still have so things to handle, I'll co back later. When you get to the village, if you can't walk, just wait for at the entrance."

At the bus station, to save the 50 cents bus fare, Zhang Hualian told a lie.

"Mom, are you..." Tang Yue sat at the bus station and suddenly realized that Zhang Hualian didn't actually have things to do—it must be to save the bus fare!

From the county to the town, and then from the town to the village, it's dozens of miles!

Even taking the mountain road alone would be deserted.

"Xiao Yue, you haven't fully recovered yet. Can you manage on your own on the bus?" Zhang Hualian looked at her worriedly.

"Uh-huh." Tang Yue nodded. She lowered her head as Zhang Hualian helped her onto the bus and listened to Zhang Hualian's admonishing words. How did she handle this in her previous life?

Back then, she blad her stepfather Tang Zhengde for not caring about her life, and blad her mother Zhang Hualian for not accompanying her back together.

She closed her eyes, still seemingly rembering that she didn't see through Zhang Hualian's lie and had a big argunt with her.

Tang Yue, oh Tang Yue, even though you were a high school student!

Yet, you lived like a fool, deservedly ruined your life because of a few nice words from Wu Xinming last lifeti.

In 1986, the road back to Shuanghe Town hadn't been fixed yet, it wasn't a smooth cent road, but a rough and uneven mud and pebble road. The bus jolted as if trying to knock all her organs out.

Plus, with motion sickness, once Tang Yue arrived at the town, she felt as feeble as if she had fallen seriously ill.

This was why, in her last life, Tang Yue quarreled with Zhang Hualian. If she were there, even though it would be hard, she would have had soone accompany her, passing her water and tissues.

But having lived once more, Tang Yue realized how terrible she had been in the past.

If it weren't for her body just discharged from the hospital, unable to walk far, she would have preferred to walk ho with her mother.

After waiting three to four hours, it was already four or five in the afternoon. Resting against a tree for the shade, Tang Yue finally saw Zhang Hualian's figure.

Originally, what did mom say?

"I got off earlier and got held up in the county, making you wait so long." Zhang Hualian's poor excuse, which the naive Tang Yue at the ti believed.

She completely didn't notice that the last bus from the county to the town, even at its latest, arrives by 5:30 pm.

And now, before five, where would the bus have co from?

Tang Yue's gaze fell on Zhang Hualian's patched-up green military shoes, clearly muddied from too much walking. The weather had only cleared up for a day, and there were still muddy pools on so parts of the road.

"Xiao Yue, have you been waiting long? I got held up in the county and ca back so late." Zhang Hualian stated this flimsy excuse with caution, asuring Tang Yue's reaction, afraid that Tang Yue would be upset. She added, "Xiao Yue, don't be mad at mom, I won't do this again."

"Mom." Tang Yue sniffled, pushing back the tears in her eyes, and said, "Mom, it's still early, let's sit for a while longer and have so water before we leave."

Walking this long distance, if we go back to the village now, mom will definitely be even more tired.

Tang Yue considerately handed over the water bottle and said, "Mom, have so water."

"Okay." Zhang Hualian was really tired from the walk, she grabbed the water bottle and tilted her head back to drink, saving a large portion for Tang Yue.

"Mom, I am already full from drinking water here, you drink." Tang Yue pushed the water back to her.

Zhang Hualian was indeed thirsty and parched, so she didn't refuse.

It takes about half an hour to walk from Shuanghe Town to Qianjin Village, but in the future, once the roads are fixed, riding a motorbike will only take about twelve or thirteen minutes.

The Tang Family's ho is situated about halfway into the village, with mountains behind and vast fertile land in front. Next to it is the highway.

Tang Zhengde's house is the very last one on the edge, a three-room structure with four doors, quite old, with beams and walls made of pure wood, and the roof covered with blue-gray tiles. Next door is Granny Tang and Tang Zhengde's elder brother Tang Zhengyuan's ho.

"Mom, you're finally back, I'm hungry." Tang Jun's voice ca from the courtyard.

"Coming, coming, I'll go cook now." As soon as Zhang Hualian entered the house, she headed straight into the kitchen.

Tang Yue stood at the entrance of the courtyard, watching her half-brother Tang Jun who was peeling a bamboo sword.

"You just don't appreciate what you've got, like a dog biting Lu Dongbin, not recognizing a good person."

In her past life, when she was sick and the Wu Family didn't care, it was Tang Jun who confronted his in-laws and stood up to support her.

But what happened afterward?

Tang Yue didn't even dare to recall. Later, she blad Tang Jun for fighting with his sister-in-law, and from then on, she showed no kindness toward him.

Until she died, she never knew where Tang Jun had gone.

"Why are you staring at like that? I'm just whittling this sword for fun." Tang Jun, treating the bamboo sword like a treasure, tucked it away.

Tang Yue was startled, suddenly rembering how Tang Jun had accidentally hurt her with a bamboo sword in the past, so whenever she saw Tang Jun playing with a bamboo sword, she would scold and yell at him.

"I'm not going to take your bamboo sword." Tang Yue said, lifting a gentle and amiable smile.

After walking such a long distance, her feet were terribly sore, and the wound was complaining about her mistreatnt of her body. Fearful of worrying her mom earlier, Tang Yue had been enduring it all along, and now back in her room, she lay on the sun-ward quilt, unable to hold back her tears.

Two rooms in the front, two in the back, one of the front rooms is where her stepfather and mom lived, and the other front room was supposed to be for Tang Jun, but back when she was thoughtless, she insisted on competing with Tang Jun for it. Thus, the bright front room belonged to her alone, while Tang Jun's room was just behind hers, with small windows, still somber even on a sunny June day.

In the yard, Tang Jun was muttering about how Tang Yue wasn't only smiling today but also speaking kindly, thinking she must still be recovering from her illness and lacked the strength to quarrel. He quickened his pace in whittling his bamboo sword, planning to go out and play afterward.

As evening approached, Tang Zhengde finally returned.

"Dad, you're finally back. If you didn't co back, she wouldn't let eat." Tang Jun's stomach was famished. He couldn't wait for Tang Zhengde to return and imdiately told on her.
