"Brother Jin, aren’t you at Jing University? How co you’re here?" ng Shuqing asked as she moved her feet.
"From today on, you and I will be classmates."
Chu Huaijin, standing at six feet tall in front of ng Shuqing, was still quite a bit taller than her, despite her height.
"Classmates?"
ng Shuqing looked at Chu Huaijin with a face full of confusion.
"I’ve co to Beiyang University as an exchange student," Chu Huaijin said happily, "From now on, we’ll be classmates."
ng Shuqing: "..."
She just wanted to be by herself in one place, that’s why she ca to Beiyang University!
Since childhood, she had been well protected by her parents and her brother, so now as an adult, she wanted to venture out on her own.
"You’re not happy?" Chu Huaijin imdiately sensed ng Shuqing’s displeasure. He had deliberately kept it a secret, hoping to surprise her.
"No."
ng Shuqing forced a smile and said, "Brother Jin, are you living on campus or..." ng Shuqing’s eyes darted around, wondering if he was going to stay in the sa apartnt as her.
Sure enough.
When Chu Huaijin said he was living upstairs, ng Shuqing felt a trendous amount of pressure!
If it were soone else, ng Shuqing could refuse decisively like she did with Ding Peng.
But Chu Huaijin was different.
He had grown up with her, like a brother from next door. In ng Shuqing’s eyes, Chu Huaijin was just like ng Shulang, a brother, with no other thoughts in her mind.
However, upon gradually realizing Chu Huaijin’s feelings, ng Shuqing began to distance herself from him.
Even when choosing a school, ng Shuqing kept everything confidential.
She hadn’t expected that in such a short ti, Chu Huaijin would follow her to Beiyang University.
"Brother Jin, since you’re new here today, let treat you to a al. Let , your little sister, welco you!"
Despite everything, ng Shuqing was happy.
She emphasized the word "sister".
Chu Huaijin’s eyes dimd. Even though he understood ng Shuqing’s aning, he still wanted to try.
*
In the blink of an eye, several days passed. Ding Peng went from being determined to absolutely uninterested in pursuing ng Shuqing, making everyone curious about how she managed to make Ding Peng stop his advances.
ng Shuqing thought that with Chu Huaijin’s arrival and the fear of awkwardness if their feelings were exposed, she would avoid running into him. But unexpectedly, except for the first day, she didn’t see Chu Huaijin again.
However, news about Chu Huaijin kept coming.
Chu Huaijin, the golden child, with good looks and a good family background, was a top student in the dical departnt. Within days of arriving, he beca a prominent figure, and ng Shuqing heard many discussions about this new transfer student.
Chu Huaijin was very busy, so busy he didn’t have ti to find ng Shuqing.
ng Shuqing was happy with the peace, just attending her classes and playing gas every day.
The only thing that made ng Shuqing slightly unhappy was not making any friends.
"Mom~"
In the evening, ng Shuqing received a call from her mom. She was both happy and excited, saying, "Mom, did you have dinner? What are you doing?"
In the first few days at Beiyang, ng Shuqing was quite happy, but after a few days, she started to miss ho.
She missed her strict dad, her mom’s cooking, and her mom’s smile.
"I finished eating a while ago. Your dad and I went for a walk outside. I wanted to ask you, did Huaijin go to Beiyang?" Tang Yue’s voice remained gentle.
"Yes, he ca too. I even had a al with him that day."
ng Shuqing chattered about these things, and when she ntioned not having made friends, Tang Yue laughed and said, "Chenchen, if you want to make friends, staying in the dorms is the best way."
"Really?" ng Shuqing was a bit resistant to the idea of sharing a room with three others.
She didn’t like sleeping with others.
"If you make a few close friends during college, it’s worth it." Tang Yue recalled her university days, even without living on campus, she was well-acquainted with Zhang Tingyu and Lian Qingyang and didn’t feel friendless.
ng Shuqing went to Beiyang alone, not knowing anyone there. Her good looks, which could also provoke jealousy.
When ng Shuqing decided to go to Beiyang, Tang Yue was worried. At first, Si Yu was against ng Shuqing going, but she insisted, so as parents, they couldn’t oppose her decision and let her go.
It was unexpected that Chu Huaijin would follow her.
"Mom, I just don’t believe that living off-campus ans I won’t have any classmates." ng Shuqing defiantly said. She didn’t want to live on campus. Besides, there were many at Beiyang who didn’t live on campus!
After hanging up the phone, Tang Yue sighed and said, "It’s been clear since young that Huaijin is fond of Chenchen, but Chenchen..."
"If Chenchen doesn’t like him, no matter how outstanding he is, it’s no use." Si Yu put his arm around her shoulders and said, "Wife, children have their own blessings. Let’s not worry."
Si Yu knew very well that although ng Shuqing appeared gentle, she was indeed very stubborn. She wouldn’t compromise on things or people she didn’t like for anything else.
ng Shuqing didn’t have feelings for Chu Huaijin, so no matter how much effort he put in, it would be in vain.
"You have to bring this up!"
Tang Yue glared at him and said, "You knew Huaijin was transferring to Beiyang, why didn’t you stop him?"
"I didn’t have ti."
Si Yu replied nervously.
"Besides, his dad agreed. I’ve already told him, Chenchen only sees him as a brother."
Si Yu added, even though he was successful and prominent outside, he was most afraid of making Tang Yue angry.
"But Huaijin doesn’t see it that way." Tang Yue felt a headache thinking of Chu Huaijin. That boy was deeply infatuated, but her daughter wasn’t interested at all.
She, as a mother, saw it clearly. Although Chenchen wasn’t aware of romance yet, she definitely had no romantic feelings for Chu Huaijin.
"Let the kids figure it out themselves."
Si Yu was at ease letting Huaijin go to Beiyang because he knew there was no chance for him, otherwise, anyone who dared to take his daughter away would have to contend with him!
"That’s all we can do." Tang Yue sighed, hoping that Chu Huaijin would co to terms with it soon, otherwise it would be awkward with Sister An Yu.
Chu Huaijin was a child she had watched grow up and treated Chenchen well. If things could work out between them, Tang Yue would be genuinely pleased, knowing both families well, and with Sister An Yu’s temperant, married to the Qin Family, Chenchen would have a smooth life ahead.
But Chenchen didn’t like him, and as her mom, she couldn’t force her to like him.
"Wife, how about we visit Chenchen at Beiyang soti?" Si Yu suggested courageously, looking at Tang Yue’s face, which was as beautiful as when they first t, yet now even more graceful with age.
