Jing City, suburbs.
Wen Yun sat in the car for nearly three hours before arriving at an extrely remote location.
Looking at this place, Wen Yun continuously sent the detailed address to ng Yanzhi.
Unfortunately, there was no response from ng Yanzhi.
Anxious and nervous, Wen Yun was solely focused on her mother’s belongings before she passed away and completely forgot that if she couldn’t reach ng Yanzhi, she could still contact ng Yanzhi’s assistant.
What could my mother’s belongings be?
Wen Yun speculated a lot. Once she arrived at the place, it was a secluded courtyard, a remote bungalow. For so reason, looking at this bungalow, it felt sowhat familiar to her.
Wen Yun paid for the taxi but didn’t let the driver leave. Instead, she told him to wait outside; she still needed to return to Jing City.
Although Wen Jiao had invited her, Wen Yun remained cautious in her heart.
Wen Yun paid more, so naturally, the driver didn’t leave but stayed in the car waiting.
"Wen Yun, you’re really timid, just a taxi driver, do you think he’d still help you?"
Wen Jiao sneered and said, "Besides, we are sisters, both surnad Wen. I simply wanted you to see the house your mother lived in while she was alive. I didn’t expect you to be so timid."
"That’s impossible. When did my mother co here?" Wen Yun looked at the house and denied it without a second thought.
"Well, back then you were only two years old, perhaps you don’t have any mory."
Wen Jiao smiled brightly as she recounted stories Wen Yun had never heard, leaving Wen Yun entranced.
After age ten, Wen Yun had no mories whatsoever of her mother.
...
Speaking like this went on for over an hour.
Wen Yun listened intently, thinking of the hardships her mother endured those years. Her heart mourned for her mother. If it wasn’t for her, her mother could have left this place. How could she have stayed by her father’s side?
Which led to her eventual demise?
Wen Yun staggered a step. When she ca back to herself, she realized she had been standing there all along, for a long ti.
"What are you doing?"
Wen Yun suddenly retreated a step, instinctively feeling sothing was wrong with Wen Jiao.
"Master Wu."
Wen Yun suddenly shouted, and turned to leave.
"No need to shout, he’s long gone." Wen Jiao smiled.
...
"Why is the phone dead?"
After preparing everything, ng Yanzhi intended to check his usual phone, thinking Xiao Yun might call him or sothing.
But the phone?
He always had two phones, one for work calls and one for personal use.
The work phone had a range of contacts, and ng Yanzhi generally used it during work.
The personal phone was generally used to contact family.
ng Yanzhi found the phone on the conference table, only to discover it was out of charge.
He intended to send Wen Yun a ssage in the morning, but a flurry of company matters prevented him. The phone had then been buried under paperwork.
For so reason, seeing the dead phone, ng Yanzhi felt there was vital information inside.
’Beep.’
’Beep.’
’Beep beep.’
As soon as he powered it on, ssages and missed calls flooded in.
ng Yanzhi saw the contact labeled ’Little Sun’ and was dumbfounded.
He regretted not realizing the phone’s battery had died sooner.
He scanned through each ssage, simultaneously connecting with Si Yu on the other line.
Fan Yuan better not do anything to harm Xiao Yun, or else...
ng Yanzhi’s eyes darkened. He rushed to the location where Wen Yun should be, but found nothing but a charred house.
"Xiao Yun."
"Where are you?"
ng Yanzhi disregarded the unpleasant burnt sll of the house and the pungent smoke inside, frantically searching for Wen Yun.
It’s impossible, impossible.
ng Siyu, who had followed behind, saw ng Yanzhi’s crazed deanor and confird that ng Yanzhi truly loved Wen Yun, as if she were his life.
Otherwise, soone as proud as ng Yanzhi could never bow down like this.
Especially not now, with such madness; the shock in his eyes, the grief—it was unmistakably genuine.
"Wen Yun is not here." Si Yu’s words were like a lifeline.
ng Yanzhi, agitated, ran in front of Si Yu, grabbing his hand and asking, "Brother, Wen Yun isn’t dead, right? Where did she go? Where is she?"
"At sea."
ng Siyu replied, sighing inwardly. Though Wen Yun wasn’t dead, she was not far from it.
Fan Yuan’s hatred for ng Yanzhi ran deep. Now, knowing ng Yanzhi loved Wen Yun, he naturally wanted her to perish alongside him.
Indeed, Fan Yuan had sched tirelessly to lure Wen Yun here for mutual destruction. Losing one’s beloved would likely make ng Yanzhi suffer a lifeti!
Hopefully, hopefully there’s still ti...
ng Siyu watched ng Yanzhi’s frantic departure, praying he would find Wen Yun soon and rescue her.
Otherwise, ng Yanzhi...
"Xiao Yun."
When ng Yanzhi arrived at the seaside, not far from the docks, a boat was afla, the fire reflected in ng Chuzhi’s blazing eyes.
ng Yanzhi, disregarding the vast sea, dove straight into it with a splash, intent on saving Wen Yun.
At this mont, the winds were calm, and ng Yanzhi swam with all his might toward the burning vessel.
Until he beca completely exhausted, ng Siyu rescued him, but ng Yanzhi still wanted to find Wen Yun.
"To the hospital."
A re sentence from ng Siyu halted ng Yanzhi’s mad search.
"Xiao Yun, Xiao Yun, open your eyes and look at ."
"Xiao Yun, we promised that after so ti, we’d go to F Country to see where your mom lived."
"Xiao Yun, don’t leave ."
ng Yanzhi tightly held Wen Yun’s hand. At this ti, she was not in good condition, having been scorched by fire and subrged in water. She looked disheveled, yet in ng Yanzhi’s eyes, there was only pain.
"Xiao Yun."
ng Yanzhi frequently kissed her hand, speaking to her. His genuine feelings stirred a wave of compassion even in Si Yu’s heart.
Until she was taken away to the operation room, ng Yanzhi stared at the closed door, murmuring, "I haven’t said ’I love you’ yet."
Half a year later.
ng Yanzhi walked hand in hand with Wen Yun in the garden.
The bright moonlight stretched their shadows long.
Since the accident, ng Yanzhi had been by her side, helping her recuperate. Just yesterday, she beca pregnant, and now ng Yanzhi cherished her even more.
"Xiao Yun."
ng Yanzhi glanced sidelong at her. Originally, they’d planned to go to F Country next week. Now, with her pregnancy, going to F Country wasn’t suitable.
"Once the child is born, we’ll take them to see Grandma. I’m sure my mom will be happy too." Wen Yun smiled gently.
"Will Mom like as a son-in-law?" ng Yanzhi asked nervously.
"She will."
"Do you love the child’s father?"
Wasn’t the child’s father ng Yanzhi?
Wen Yun suddenly stopped, turning to face him. eting his expectant gaze, she couldn’t help but place a hand on her yet-to-show belly, her face radiant with happiness as she said, "Yes, I love the child’s father."
"I also love the child’s mother."
ng Yanzhi joyfully lifted Wen Yun into the air, spinning in place, their laughter echoing far, far away...
