In the pitch-dark little room, a young boy sat inside, leaning against the wall, silently crying.
Why, why doesn’t Dad like ?
He just wanted to do those things to get Dad’s attention, but why is it that every ti Dad looks at him, it’s with disappointnt?
He also wants to have a mother.
He also wants to receive praise from Dad and Mom.
In the pitch-dark little room, no matter how hard the young boy slamd the door, he couldn’t open it.
Suddenly, he opened his eyes and saw the faint light by the bed. Only then did he vaguely understand he had been dreaming again.
ng Yanzhi pulled off the quilt and walked to the balcony. The sky was almost bright yet still dark, and outside was tranquil.
He sat on the chair, the gentle breeze invigoratingly blowing in, and he just sat there in a daze for a long ti.
Losing himself in thought, he gazed into the distance, closed his eyes, as if still rembering that pitch-dark room.
He hasn’t dread of returning to the past in a long ti; he took a deep breath, closed his eyes, and suddenly, the sound of a ringing phone interrupted his contemplation.
"ng Yanzhi."
On the other side of the phone, ca the angry roar of his grandfather.
"Grandpa, what’s wrong? Early in the morning, who upset you?" ng Yanzhi put aside his thoughts, teasingly coaxing Mr. ng.
"Hm."
Mr. ng snorted coldly, saying, "Who else but you? You say you’ve been married to Xiao Yun for half a year, how many days have you been ho?"
Speaking of Wen Yun, ng Yanzhi was taken aback; since getting married, he’s been on business trips everywhere, seemingly never returning ho, completely forgetting he has a wife.
"I didn’t force you to marry the girl, but now that you have, you need to be responsible for her!" Mr. ng just found out that ng Yanzhi has been away on business trips for over half a year without returning ho, which infuriated him!
He still hopes Wen Yun can give birth to a great-grandson!
But, ng Yanzhi, absent for half a year, how could he hope to have a great-grandchild?
He already has a great-granddaughter, Zaozao, the well-behaved and sensible child whom Mr. ng receives a basketful of praises whenever he takes her out.
But ng Yanzhi has been his child since young, and without seeing him accompanied, without seeing him erge from the shadow of his past, his heart is never at ease.
In his words, he wouldn’t be able to rest in peace even after death!
"The girl is your wife; you can’t let her down."
Mr. ng tossed and turned all night unable to sleep, thus calling ng Yanzhi early in the morning.
"Grandpa, I, this, it’s just that work is busy."
ng Yanzhi’s words carried a guilty conscience; he truly is busy, busy enough that he’s forgotten about the wife he brought ho.
Poor girl, she shouldn’t be pitiful anymore, right?
Thinking this way, after working all day, ng Yanzhi returned to Huayuan Small Building in the evening.
In Huayuan Small Building, aside from Aunt Wu, there’s no sign of anyone else.
"Where is she?"
ng Yanzhi looked around, asking.
"Madam has been working overti recently, coming back late." Aunt Wu replied, looking at the long-absent ng Yanzhi, then thinking of Wen Yun living alone these days, wanting to say a few good words for her, but seeing ng Yanzhi’s busy look, she swallowed her words back.
ng Yanzhi went straight to the study, where there was a computer, and had his assistant send docunts there to work.
Once busy, he forgot the ti; when he raised his head again, it was already dark outside. He looked at his wristwatch — it was eleven in the evening.
ng Yanzhi rubbed his sore neck; perhaps from the morning’s cool breeze, his throat felt a bit uncomfortable.
He made his way to the dining room, intending to find sothing to drink; as he drank water, he walked into the kitchen, looking for sothing to eat.
In the fridge, there were ready-to-eat bread, which he ate all of at once, finally feeling his empty stomach more comfortable.
...
Outside the house.
Wen Yun entered the house and saw the lights on in the living room; she thought to herself, could Aunt Wu have forgotten to turn them off when she left?
She clutched her empty stomach, heading straight to the kitchen, but halfway there, she heard noises from the kitchen; Wen Yun was startled, various ideas coming to mind.
A thief?
Or a rat?
Wen Yun pursed her lips tightly, eyes darting around, spotting a stick used for so unknown purpose in the corner; grabbing it in her hand, she felt much safer, completely forgetting that for such situations, one should call the police first, not rush up!
"Pfft~"
ng Yanzhi gulped down the water, not entirely swallowing it, when he walked out and saw a long stick coming at him.
The water in his mouth sprayed everywhere; he swiftly sidestepped, simultaneously grabbing Wen Yun’s hand.
"Ahhh~"
Wen Yun’s stick waved chaotically; in her panic, she didn’t dare look at who the person was.
Feeling her hand being grabbed, Wen Yun scread even more frantically.
ng Yanzhi had no idea what was happening; he didn’t even have ti to put down the cup in his hand, just held her firmly in his arms, feeling her intense struggle, prompting him to say, "Wen Yun, what’s wrong? What’s happened to you?"
ng Yanzhi’s voice was loud.
"ng Yanzhi?"
The extrely frightened Wen Yun finally realized that the voice was familiar, the presence was familiar.
She lifted her head blankly; seeing ng Yanzhi, she didn’t react for a while.
"Yes, it’s , what’s the matter?" ng Yanzhi looked down, examining her.
What’s the matter?
There’s a thief.
Wen Yun answered in her mind, but as her eyes circled around, where was the thief?
Except for ng Yanzhi, there was no one else.
Instantly, Wen Yun realized she had done sothing foolish.
Wen Yun awkwardly retreated repeatedly, stamring to explain, "That, that, misunderstanding."
After speaking, Wen Yun forgot about fetching bread from the fridge, covering her face, and ran straight to her room upstairs.
Embarrassing!
So embarrassing!
Wen Yun found this situation incredibly awkward; how could she have been so silly?
Back in her room, Wen Yun threw herself onto the bed, covering her head with the quilt, as if doing so could conceal the embarrassnt from just now.
In the kitchen.
ng Yanzhi stood there, stunned for a while, finally realizing; dare Wen Yun thought he was a thief?
ng Yanzhi’s face turned dark; looking at that inexplicable stick, thinking of Wen Yun’s terrified scream, he examined himself — how on earth did he look like a thief?
If Wen Yun heard ng Yanzhi’s thoughts, she’d surely say: it’s not that he looks like a thief, but he returned so quietly; who knew he was back?
To know, this nominal husband hadn’t returned for half a year.
If not for seeing him today, Wen Yun would have mistakenly thought she was still single, which led to her seeing the lights on upon returning, hearing noises in the kitchen, never considering ng Yanzhi had returned.
