Fan Jiaren stayed by Han Zhu’s side without leaving, even at night, worried that sothing might happen to Han Zhu.
Her younger sister Fan Liren had already fallen asleep on an empty bed nearby. Fan Jiaren leaned over the bed, constantly feeling Han Zhu’s forehead to confirm she wasn’t feverish and checking that she was still breathing, then continued to sleep fitfully.
Any small movent from Han Zhu would make Fan Jiaren imdiately lift her head. In the dim light, seeing Han Zhu’s open eyes, she joyfully said, "Mom, you’re awake?"
"Mom, are you feeling uncomfortable anywhere? I’ll get the doctor."
Excitedly, Fan Jiaren quickly called the doctor back inside.
Soon the doctor ca to check and confird Han Zhu was safe, advising her to rest well.
Fan Jiaren collapsed at the bedside, sobbing, "Mom, we don’t have Dad anymore, please don’t leave us."
"Jiaren." Han Zhu tightly held Fan Jiaren’s hand, looking at her daughter’s tear-streaked face, her heart wrenched.
Fan Liren, sleeping fitfully, woke up hearing her sister crying.
"Mom, I’m so scared."
Seeing Han Zhu awake, Fan Liren also rushed over to the bedside. Having been fearful the whole night, Fan Liren trembled, hugging Han Zhu tightly as if letting go would an Han Zhu wouldn’t wake again.
When her sister went for help, Fan Liren had stayed by Han Zhu’s side alone, calling out repeatedly but getting no response. Blood kept flowing, nearly dyeing the entire bathroom red. The striking red had scared Fan Liren imnsely.
"I’m sorry, it’s all Mom’s fault, it’s Mom’s fault."
Tears stread down Han Zhu’s face, in her desolate despair she’d only focused on her own sadness, forgetting she had two underage daughters.
If she just chose to die, what about her two daughters?
"Mom was wrong. In the future, Mom won’t act foolishly again." Han Zhu hugged her two daughters tightly, crying until her eyes swelled.
The three of them, mother and daughters, weeped as they held each other tightly by the small hospital bed throughout the night. Even if they couldn’t all fit, as long they were close, it brought them peace.
*
Tang Yue ca with so porridge the next morning and saw this scene of three people cuddled closely together. On the small hospital bed, Han Zhu lay in the middle, Fan Jiaren on the left, Fan Liren on the right.
Fan Liren lay beside Han Zhu, hugging her hand tightly.
On the other side, Fan Jiaren sat at the bedside, leaning next to Han Zhu.
There was an empty hospital bed nearby, but no one went to sleep there. Tang Yue quietly placed the hot porridge nearby.
"Sister Tang." Fan Jiaren rubbed her eyes, excited upon seeing Tang Yue.
Tang Yue gestured softly to silence her, asking Fan Jiaren to lower her voice.
"Sister Tang, my mom woke up yesterday and told to thank you properly." Seeing Tang Yue, Fan Jiaren excitedly said. Yesterday, the doctor remarked that if it hadn’t been for the tily delivery, even great immortals couldn’t have saved Han Zhu.
"It’s nothing. I just asked the doctor; your mom’s condition isn’t bad now. With proper rest, she’ll be fine." Tang Yue said quietly, thinking she might leave soon as Han Zhu woke up.
Han Zhu held Tang Yue’s hand with a grateful look, knowing Tang Yue was her savior.
Tang Yue felt uncomfortable with so much gratitude and pulled out the porridge, asking them to eat it first.
Fan Jiaren and Fan Liren fed Han Zhu the porridge, then went to wash the dishes together.
"Miss Tang, thank you for saving my life. Without you, my two children wouldn’t have a mom." Han Zhu, her eyes swollen from crying, beca emotional and started crying again when ntioning this.
Tang Yue quickly comforted her, saying, "Even without , soone else would’ve encountered you. You have a good daughter who wouldn’t even care about her own life just to stop a car to save you. Such a daughter is truly sensible."
Tang Yue truly cherished Fan Jiaren, finding her very sensible and filial despite her young age.
She hoped Han Zhu truly understood that no hurdle was insurmountable, no matter how difficult. Though so things are sad, they will pass.
"Yes, Jiaren really is sensible, so much that it makes your heart ache." Han Zhu wiped her tears, saying, "As a mom, I’m not even as good as Jiaren."
"Look forward; no matter what happens, even death doesn’t solve anything." Tang Yue said softly.
Han Zhu nodded repeatedly, saying, "Yes, you’re right. I just got confused for a mont. I just felt so sad, but don’t worry, I won’t do this again. I’ll repay you the dical expenses after being discharged."
"No need, it was just a small effort." Tang Yue wasn’t concerned about the dical expenses but worried about the underage daughters having to care for a mom intent on suicide. Concerned that Han Zhu might still be struggling, she ca by deliberately.
"Your small effort saved our family’s lives."
Every word from Han Zhu expressed gratitude to Tang Yue. Before leaving, Han Zhu not only asked for Tang Yue’s na but also her address and phone number.
"Do you think she really understood?"
On the way back, Tang Yue uncertainly said.
Wu Xin said, "Whether she understands or not, with two daughters by her side, as long as she’s sane, she won’t try to take her life again."
"Even if she tried, she might not have such good luck as this ti."
Wu Xin added.
Tang Yue: "..."
"If soone truly wants to die, they’ll always find an opportunity." Wu Xin, not taking these matters too seriously, believed that if Han Zhu really wanted to die, they might save her once or twice but couldn’t do so forever.
Tang Yue: "..."
Wu Xin was right in what he said.
Just now, seeing Han Zhu, it seed she wouldn’t be suicidal again.
Tang Yue prayed silently in her heart. Though not soone she knew well, it was still a living life, and she’d advised all she could; the rest was out of her hands.
"Xiao Yue, how’s that person doing?" Zhang Hualian, seeing Tang Yue return, imdiately asked. She knew about yesterday’s events despite not eting, as Zhang Hualian was always kind-hearted.
Tang Yue sat down with Zhang Hualian, saying, "Mom, don’t worry. When I checked today, she’s doing well with her two daughters beside her. She should be able to figure things out."
"That’s good. People will always have ups and downs; they can’t resort to suicide during a mont of pain. That way, the two children would be motherless, which would be so pitiful." Zhang Hualian sighed, saying, "Xiao Yue, no matter when, our lives are the most important; after the storm, we’ll see the brilliant rainbow."
