A few days later, she and Sister Zhu had settled the matter; all the procedures for the house had been completed. From then on, they had no further financial or property ties. Even if Sister Zhu wanted to buy it back, it would depend on whether Qin Xiangnuan was willing to sell. Of course, the whole family had already taken ten thousand yuan and found themselves two bigger flats. They didn’t lose out on this deal; in fact, they made a profit, so there was no reason for them to live in the old house again.
"Um, brother, do a favor..." Qin Xiangnuan made a call to Qin Xiangyang.
Qin Xiangyang initially thought his sister had run into so trouble and hastily requested leave from his school.
"Sister Zhu, I’m afraid we’ll have to trouble you again," Qin Xiangnuan pointed to Qin Xiangyang by her side, "This is my cousin, who also wants to buy an old house to live in. He saw that I bought one here at a good price, and now he wants to buy one as well, to eventually bring the whole family over. Although the house is old, it’s spacious enough for everyone."
Qin Xiangyang sat motionless, of course, he had taken off his military uniform and was just wearing so old clothes that made him look rather shabby, which made Sister Zhu size him up now and then. This left Qin Xiangyang feeling so embarrassed that he hung his head low, as if he was too ashad to show his face.
Sister Zhu got the picture. They wanted to bring the whole family to Capital City. Although expensive hos were hard to co by, an old one like this definitely had its advantages, being cost-effective for a whole family to live in, despite the poorer conditions, but still a property of their own. Of course, she wouldn’t say that with that amount of money, they could actually exchange for two better apartnts outside.
But those multi-story buildings aren’t everyone’s cup of tea.
She indeed felt like laughing at the Qin siblings, lacking in foresight. However, of course, being selfish, she wasn’t about to say too much.
"Sister, don’t worry, if you find one for us, we won’t short-change you," Qin Xiangnuan had already seen that Sister Zhu had a bit of a petty bourgeois ntality, fond of small gains.
"What are you saying, how could Big Sister not help you?"
Sister Zhu clearly wanted a reward, but of course, she needed to maintain a polite front and was quick on her feet. In just a few days, she brought over five to six families who were thinking of selling. Qin Jinuan wanted to buy them all, but firstly she didn’t have the money, and secondly, two apartnts were enough. Besides, there’s the saying "too much is as bad as too little."
The second apartnt was cheaper, thanks mostly to Sister Zhu’s smooth talk, which got them down to 8000 yuan. Although smaller than Sister Zhu’s, it was well-located. Qin Xiangnuan gave Sister Zhu fifty yuan as a token of gratitude for her efforts, and Sister Zhu left with a smile on her face. Of course, Qin Xiangnuan also made a ntal note of the families who didn’t manage to sell.
"Sis, what exactly do you need these houses in this area for?" Qin Xiangyang was almost struggling to hold himself back. They already have a Siheyuan at ho, why do they need these? And if they wanted one, it should at least be another big house.
"You’ll know in the future. For now, it’s a secret," Qin Xiangnuan teased, referring to events a year or so ahead. There was no point talking about it now.
Having heard that, Qin Xiangyang didn’t pry any further. Honestly, he did feel that his sister was quite impressive. She seed to know everything. For instance, the vegetable market was demolished, and they were compensated with three places, bringing in a yearly rent of ten thousand yuan. In a few more years, the rent would likely increase, possibly to twenty thousand a year. Even the bus station area might yield a place for them in the future.
His sister was smarter than him; whatever she said was right; if she said a year, then it was a year, so he didn’t ponder any further.
Jian Zhiqing picked up a piece of sauce-coated pork rib and placed it in his bowl, but he didn’t eat it and put down his chopsticks.
"I heard you’ve been up to sothing recently?"
Chun Xiangnuan lifted her face, knowing she couldn’t conceal anything from him. So, she was honest, didn’t lie, and also she wouldn’t lie in front of Jian Zhiqing. Aside from not knowing about her rebirth and that she had a system, everything else was impossible to keep from him, and her current leisurely life was largely thanks to him.
So, they shared the good things, made money together, and, of course, they would share the good news.
"I bought houses in Limin Alley," then she held up two fingers, "Two of them."
"Oh..." Jian Zhiqing continued to eat his al.
"Is there inside information?"
"Of course," Qin Xiangnuan rolled her eyes, "Brother Jian, do you really think I’m foolish enough to exchange bigger houses for those old ones that no one lives in?"
"Then what is it?" Jian Zhiqing tossed the bone he had finished gnawing on the floor for Conghua and waited to hear what Qin Xiangnuan had to say next.
"Brother Jian is not oblivious, right?" Qin Xiangming had obviously prepared her words carefully.
"Hm?" Jian Zhiqing raised an eyebrow, what did he know?
"I know so many grandpas and grandmas," Qin Xiangnuan referred to the elderly who often ca for breakfast after their morning exercises. Many of them were retired officials, and unavoidably, they would let a few things slip, which Qin Xiangnuan caught wind of.
Qin Xiangnuan tapped the rice in her bowl, "I heard there are developnt plans for that area, they want to build tall buildings, and the compensation for demolition is quite substantial. That’s why I thought of making a tidy profit," but of course, she knew in her heart it wasn’t just a tidy profit; it was likely to be a huge one.
The money earned from demolition was going to be used to buy shops.
"Brother Jian, keeping money in a bank is the most depreciating option. It’s better to use it for fixed asset investnt. Property prices in Capital City will rise much faster than the bank’s interest."
Qin Xiangnuan suggested to Jian Zhiqing.
He had already bought a Siheyuan, which was the best investnt, benefitting the whole lineage. Honestly, keeping money in the bank was truly less beneficial than taking it out to buy properties and waiting for their value to increase.
"So..." Jian Zhiqing understood, "you want to buy one too?"
"I didn’t say that," Qin Xiangnuan poked her rice again, "I’m just suggesting. Brother Jian, you can decide to buy or not."
"Alright, I get it," Jian Zhiqing threw another bone to Conghua, "Then you go and pick one out for tomorrow. What if they end up not demolishing?"
Qin Xiangnuan grinned, "Then that’s just bad karma on your part, Brother Jian."
"Fine," Jian Zhiqing chuckled, it seed Qin Xiangnuan set him up to jump into a trap. If there’s demolition, then she’s of good character, and if not, then it’s his poor character. Either way, she ended up being the good person, didn’t she?
"Help pick out a place tomorrow."
"Sure," Qin Xiangnuan agreed without hesitation. Really, there was no picking needed. No one was living there anyway; they were just waiting to beco demolition heirs. Regardless of which one, the compensation would be the sa; anyway, it’s all calculated by the area, and the areas of each house are roughly similar, with only a few square ters difference, which isn’t significant.
