Chapter 66: Chapter 66: Xin Yan Is Sick
As soon as Li Qiang and Gao Yang left the conference, the directors beca agitated.
"What level of unprofessionalism? How dare he cancel the eting! It is uncalled for," an angry director slamd his hand against the table, harboring resentnt toward Li Qiang.
"His daughter called, correct? Then there should be problems at ho that require his attention," another director stated. He seed more reasonable than the previous one.
"But he should have spoken up; he made us feel like we are nobodies," the first director said quietly.
"Is he accountable to you?" The other responded imdiately, effectively shutting them up.
anwhile, Li Qiang drove ho at an insane speed; he received several tickets for it, but he will deal with them later. Right now, Xin Yan was the only person on his mind.
He got him there in record ti, taking twenty minutes for a forty-five minute drive.
When he arrived ho, he found Li Chuxi standing at the door.
"Good thing you are back, dad; mom did not have anything to eat, and now she has a fever," Li Chuxi exclaid, delighted to see her father as if he had arrived as her saviour.
Li Qiang’s lips ford a thin line as he pinched the space between his brows; Xin Yan did not care about her health, causing him to worry on a daily basis.
"Where is she right now?" Li Qiang enquired.
"She is in the room," Li Chuxi replied, frowning. She had previously felt her mother’s temperature, which was unusually high, and she was extrely concerned.
"You know what, et with Aunt Guo, tell her to call the doctor, and tell him it is an ergency," Li Qiang said, and she nodded before going to find Aunt Guo, the mansion’s housekeeper.
anwhile, Li Qiang took long strides towards their room. When he opened the door, he noticed she was sneezing and frowned instantly.
"You do not take care of your health which makes Chuxi and I am extrely worried about you," Li Qiang had a sullen look on his face as he scowled at her.
"Why are you ho so early?" Xin Yan cried out, her voice hoarse. She was surprised to see him as she attempted to sit up.
"Do not try what you are about to do," he warned her, and she obediently lay down on the bed without protest.
"Have you eaten sothing?" He inquired; he knew the answer but wanted her to respond.
She stuck out her tongue and gave him a sheepish look.
He glared at her, and she instantly shrank back.
"Why did you refuse to eat? Why are you punishing yourself in this way? What if you get sick or harm your body as a result of your carelessness? Li Qiang was enraged as he lashed out at her.
She looked at him wistfully and said, "You are lashing out at , which will worsen my health; you did not even check on ," pouting her lips for maximum effect, which worked imdiately.
As he approached her, Li Qiang kept his hostile deanor under control. He placed the back of his palm on her forehead and frowned as he felt the temperature.
"Have you taken your temperature?" She gave a slight nod when he asked.
"What did it read?" Li Qiang questioned with his arms folded.
"39°C, you are like Chuxi, fussing over nothing," Xin Yan said, coughing.
"Are we making a big deal about nothing? Take a look at yourself; you are coughing, your voice sounds nasally, and you are burning up; is not that enough reason to worry about you?" Li Qiang wanted to be kind to her, but her actions convinced him otherwise.
"Why are you yelling at ?" You are exacerbating my headache," he exclaid softly after hearing her tired voice. He then took a seat beside her.
"How are you feeling right now?" He inquired, his voice filled with concern.
"Better, now that you are with ," she said, a beam covering her face.
Li Qiang raised an eyebrow in response to her words.
"The doctor will be here soon; Li Chuxi has gone to call the doctor," Li Qiang said, and she nodded.
"I will sleep now," she said, and then fell asleep.
"I can not stand seeing you in pain," Li Qiang said as he stroked her hair and looked at her with love in his eyes.
Li Chuxi, Aunt Guo, and the doctor entered the room about 20 minutes later.
"You are here," Li Qiang said when he saw them enter the room.
"How is mom doing?" Li Chuxi skipped over to Xin Yan’s place and she noticed she was asleep.
"She will be fine; let us allow the doctor to do his job," Li Qiang said to her, and she nodded before taking a spot on the bed next to the sleeping Xin Yan.
Li Qiang requested that the doctor check on her.
The doctor examined Xin Yan and sighed as he finished.
"She needs adequate rest; if she does not get enough rest, she will have to be taken to the ergency room," he said, and a frown appeared on the faces of the three people, Li Qiang, Li Chuxi, and Aunt Guo.
"What can she do to alleviate the fever?" Li Qiang inquired, his face filled with concern.
"I will prescribe so dications to her; she must take them after she has eaten dinner; otherwise, they may have a negative impact on her health," he instructed, and Li Qiang nodded.
The doctor quickly scribbled the prescription on a piece of paper before handing it to Aunt Guo.
*The following morning*
Yuan Renshu’s eyes flickered open. As he tried to rember what happened the night before, his head felt heavy.
When he looked to the side, he was surprised to see a beautiful lady beside him.
He let out a low grunt as mories of the previous night flooded back to him.
He continued to stare at Shi Bei and felt a strange sensation in his heart.
"Good morning," Shi Bei murmured, her eyes opening slightly.
"You are awake," he told her, and she nodded as she scooted closer to him.
"Last night was the best night of my life," she confessed, his eyes crinkling with a bright smile.
