Gu Shishi looked around as they walked to the doctor’s office. With each step she took, her heart constricted.
She was afraid of the unknown. Today was the day she would find out if she was really the daughter of the Gu’s.
They finally arrived at the doctor’s office, and they were led into the office.
"Mr. and Mrs. Gu, I am happy to see you here, please have a seat, Gu Shishi has grown since I last saw her," the doctor flattered.
"Please have a seat, I will draw your blood now," The doctor smiled.
After a while, Gu Shishi and Gu Guan were led into an enclosed room. This was to have their blood drawn.
Gu Fen, who was left alone in the office clasped her hands together. She hoped the results would co out positive. She craved for a complete family.
After a few minutes, they ca out of the enclosed room.
"Mr. Gu, would you like the reports to be delivered to your house, or would you like to wait for it?" The doctor asked respectfully as they took their seats.
Gu Guan turned to look at Gu Fen who nodded anxiously.
"We would wait for the results, my wife is eager to find out what the results states," Gu Guan replied, and the doctor nodded.
"Please give
a minute, I would love to supervise the process, we do not want any issues to occur," The doctor smiled, before she walked out of her office.
Once she left the office, the atmosphere turned silent, and awkward.
"Shishi," Gu Fen called, and the girl who was deep in thoughts snapped her head to look at her mother.
"Yes, what do you want to say?" Gu Shishi asked with a forced smile. Clearly, she was trying to draw a line between her and her supposedly parents.
Gu Fen noticed this, and she sighed tiredly. At the end of the day, it was her and that of her husband’s fault.
"I want you to know that regardless of the results, I am still your mother, nothing will change that, you are still a mber of our family, you are our family’s little princess," Gu Fen had tears in her eyes as she assured Gu Shishi.
"I don’t think you have fulfilled your role as a mother before," Gu Shishi stated without her expression changing.
Gu Fen’s and Gu Guan’s faces changed as they heard her words. Truly, she was right about what she said. They have never fulfilled their roles and responsibilities.
Instead, she was ostracized by them, and no matter how she had tried to get their attention, they always pushed her away.
"We are sorry," Gu Fen cried, plopping to her knees which shocked Shishi.
"What are you doing?" Gu Shishi jumped to her feet when she saw her take such a step.
"I know I don’t deserve your forgiveness, but Shishi, there is no denying that I am your mother, I carried you for nine months, I also know I haven’t fulfilled my duties, but can you bla ?" Gu Fen paused as she sniffed.
"My hands were tied, I know it is not your fault, but I could not help but have this strange feeling in my heart, I am wrong, please forgive mother," Gu Fen cried as she apologized.
"Gu Shishi, your mother and I finally realized the error of our ways, please find it in your heart to forgive us," Gu Guan spoke up, also pleading for forgiveness.
Gu Shishi’s heart softened. She could not deny that she had always craved her mother’s attention.
There were tis she would throw tantrums to see if Gu Fen would attend to her, but she was always wrong.
Gu Fen did not bother to take care of her, and slowly, she began distancing herself away from her parents.
Even if the results ca out to be positive, it would take a lot of ti before Gu Shishi would finally warm up to them.
"Let’s wait for the results to be out first, then we can decide my fate," Gu Shishi replied, her voice was tight, and it was clear she was trying to hold back her tears.
The little emotional scene was cut short by the presence of the doctor.
"I am sorry if I am disturbing your family mont, but the results are out, do you want
to read it here, or would you like to head ho before you decide to check it?"
The doctor asked, as her eyes darted between the three of them with a warm smile on her lips.
"Doctor,"
"Why don’t you read it to us directly? It will save ti, and I will get to find out the truth." Gu Shishi and Gu Guan replied at the sa ti.
Gu Fen was confused by the request, but nonetheless, she gave the go-ahead to the doctor who smiled before handing over a white envelope to Gu Guan who was more than happy to receive it.
The doctor had a aningful smile on her lips as she watched him open the envelope.
As Gu Guan read through the paper, his eyes widened, while his fingers trembled.
Gu Fen noticed the abnormality, and her heart beat rapidly against her chest.
"What do the reports say?" Gu Fen asked, while she tried to calm her beating heart.
"I suggest you read it for yourself," Gu Guan suppressed the excitent in his voice as he handed the envelope to Gu Fen who was eager.
As Gu Fen read through the contents, her heart burst into joy as a wide smile appeared on her face.
Seeing her parents like this, Gu Shishi was 80% sure about the outco of the results.
Her heart skipped several beats as she noticed their expressions.
"She is our daughter, she really is our daughter," Gu Fen muttered under her breath, and it was to Gu Shishi’s hearing.
Gu Shishi’s face involuntarily let out a smile as she heard the news.
She was truly their daughter, and not a product of rape.
