"Mm!" Han Jiaoyang nodded resolutely.

Acting in a TV drama?

For those living in this backward small town, the stars in movies and television are like figures beyond their reach, ethereal and distant.

Visible, but untouchable.

Hearing his son suddenly express the desire to act in TV dramas, both Mr. Han and Mrs. Han almost popped their eyes out!

"This, this..." Mr. Han stamred.

Although he and his wife were quite open-minded and democratic, wasn’t their second son’s dream a little too unrealistic?

Mrs. Han was equally baffled, wondering how the topic had turned to becoming a star.

Both of their sons were quite good-looking; at least in Mrs. Han’s eyes, they weren’t a bit less handso than the stars on TV!

But, but their family was just ordinary people! How could they have any ans to achieve this?

Han Mingyue pondered for a mont, his gaze lowered. Though he wasn’t very knowledgeable, he knew that now was not the ti to dampen his younger brother’s enthusiasm.

Otherwise, it would be even harder to motivate him to study!

"I think it’s possible!" Han Mingyue declared decisively: "As long as you can get into the No. 2 Middle School! Whether you can apprentice to study martial arts or act in TV dramas, it’s all up to you!"

Hearing the words of their eldest son, Mr. Han and Mrs. Han also ca to a realization, exchanged a glance, and nodded together, "Okay! Mom supports you!"

"I agree, too!"

"Yay! Aweso! I’m going to be a star!" Han Jiaoyang excitedly ran around the living room, shouting and singing, "Shaolin! Shaolin! So many heroes and valiant figures look up to you..."

"Han Jiaoyang! Studying martial arts is fine, but there is one rule you must follow!" Mr. Han yelled, startling Han Jiaoyang into silence.

"What rule?"

"No fighting or brawling! Did you hear that?"

"I heard it!" Han Jiaoyang breathed a sigh of relief, thinking it was no big deal!

At the sa ti, Bai Xue was having a casual conversation with her mother.

"Mom! Xiao Yu asked to study with her."

Without lifting her head or opening her eyes, Mrs. Bai continued to knit, "What did you say?"

"I agreed."

Mrs. Bai paused for a mont, glancing at her daughter. Seeing her smile sweetly, not seeming reluctant, she lowered her gaze again and continued knitting, "What do you think?"

"I want to try and see if I can get into high school."

"Well, you can try! As long as you get in, Mom will definitely support you," Mrs. Bai said after being silent for a while.

Clearly, she wasn’t very confident about her ’daughter wanting to study’.

After all, the child she had raised was known to her; an aversion to studying seed innate. Bai Xue might be interested in anything that was pretty or nice-looking but that definitely didn’t include studying.

Bai Xue, hearing her mother’s words, leaned closer, resting her head against Mrs. Bai’s shoulder, "Mom."

"Go play with your brother," Mrs. Bai’s voice was gentle, "Both of your sweaters are too small. Mom needs to finish knitting them before sumr, so they are ready to wear in fall."

"Mm." Bai Xue nodded and went to the inner room to watch TV with her brother.

Over the next three days, Han Jiaoyang and Bai Xue spent their ti at Zhen Yu’s house.

They first inquired about the arts and sciences, and both chose the science stream without prior discussion, for the sa reason as Zhen Yan: no morization required!

Thus, Han Mingyue took turns with her in tutoring the two.

Starting with math, I let the two of them read the books on their own, and after finishing a lesson, they would do the exercises at the end.

Then, during the spare ti while peer-reviewing papers, I would explain the questions they got wrong.

I sotis had to keep an eye on Zhen Yan; this day was really so packed I nearly exploded.

Early on the fourth day, as the siblings were having breakfast, Mrs. Fu suddenly showed up with a sullen Fu Yu trailing behind.

"Aunt Fu, good morning!" Zhen Yu greeted Mrs. Fu with a beaming smile, fully aware of the reason for her visit.

Zhen Yan was a bit confused and said cluelessly, "Aunt Fu, my mom just left."

Mrs. Fu cheerfully took a seat in the corner, "I’m not here to see your mother, dear. I was hoping for you two to study together with Fu Yu!"

Upon hearing this, Zhen Yan looked at Fu Yu, who unfortunately was rolling his eyes and refusing to look at him.

Seeing his attitude, Zhen Yan understood he was totally reluctant, "Aunt Fu, Fu Yu he,"

"Great! Then let’s have Fu Yu co over every day!" Zhen Yu interrupted her brother.

Zhen Yan looked at his sister, signaling with his eyes, "Look at him! Even if he stays, he won’t study!"

Zhen Yu lifted one corner of her mouth, replying to her brother with an expression, "Since he’s been brought here, he no longer has a say in it!"

Zhen Yan could only roll his eyes helplessly to the heavens.

"Alright! Then I won’t bring him tomorrow; I’ll let him co over by himself!" Mrs. Fu didn’t say much more; she left her son behind, said her goodbyes, and was off.

——

Having just sent Mrs. Fu off, Fu Yu started to sulk as soon as he turned back to the living room.

Not saying a word, just with a face dark as the bottom of a pot, Zhen Yan tried talking to him but was ignored. Fu Yu just tossed his backpack aside without a care.

After a few exchanges, Zhen Yan grew impatient and let him sit in a corner by himself.

Soon everyone arrived, and the Han Family Brothers ca in and greeted Fu Yu, who ignored them.

Bai Xue approached with a smile, trying to speak a few words to her cousin. Fu Yu suddenly beca furious, "It’s all your fault! If you hadn’t blabbed at ho, would my mom have forced to co study?!"

Bai Xue, thin-skinned, was a bit at a loss and just as she was about to defend herself, Zhen Yu suddenly spoke up.

"You’re a guy! Your legs are attached to your body, it wasn’t Bai Xue who tied you up and brought you here!"

Fu Yu imdiately turned his wrath, "You have the nerve to say that! Just because you’re good at studying! Just showing off that you’re the best!"

His words were thick with sarcasm, "If it wasn’t for you coaxing everyone one by one to co study at your house! Would my mom have forced here?"

Zhen Yan imdiately got angry; it’s one thing to insult him, but he would not tolerate his little sister being insulted! "You just said it’s your mom who’s making you co! It’s not my sister! If you don’t want to stay then leave! Who’s keeping you?"

"I’ll leave!" Fu Yu roared, flinging his sleeves and storming out, slamming the door behind him.

——

After he left, everyone inside the room fell silent.

After silently counting to fifty, Zhen Yu called out and sat down at the round table, "Let’s study!"

Once everyone sat down, Zhen Yu noticed that the morale was quite low.

She thought for a mont and looked directly at everyone, "Have you all thought about your future?"

Seeing everyone looking at her in silence, Zhen Yu solemnly served up the chicken soup analogy she loved most in her past life.

"There are actually only two kinds of people in this world! One kind, strives every second to be able to choose the life they want in the future, to follow their heart! The other kind, slacks off all the ti, and they can only ever be chosen by life, forced to make a living! Which one do you want to be?"

After a while, Han Mingyue was the first to declare, his voice deep, "I want to be the first kind!"

Zhen Yan almost imdiately chid in, " too!"

" as well! I also want to live the life I desire!" Han Jiayang firmly said.

Zhen Yu looked at Bai Xue, who blinked, "I don’t really understand! But being forced to make a living doesn’t sound great. I choose the first kind too!"
