Country E.

"Mr. Calvin—"

Calvin withdrew his gaze and turned around.

"If I recall correctly, the area you’re asking to assist with belongs to the ga family’s territory?"

It took Jey several seconds to process the implication.

"I’ll just wander around on my own.

lissa let out a quiet sigh of relief and imdiately ducked behind Vicente, peeking at Calvin with a guilty whisper. "I know I ssed up.

Through the glass, his long, narrow peach-blossom eyes surveyed the scene below, his strikingly handso face etched with icy solemnity.

Vincent shifted slightly, shielding her as he stepped toward Calvin.

"Whether he’s in a hurry or not, I can’t say.

That’s why I ca to ask you about my brother—so I can apologize properly..."

"Mr. Vincent, please have a seat."

After shooting lissa a look that promised retribution later, Calvin turned his attention to Vicente, his expression neutral.

"Escort Miss Taylor and make sure she doesn’t wander off." "Understood." Jey bowed slightly.

lissa hesitated mid-step.

You may leave."

His voice, slightly husky, betrayed no emotion—yet carried an unmistakable hint of bitterness.

Just like that?"

"Since you’re Taylor’s friend, Mr. Calvin, you’re a friend of mine as well. If there’s anything I can assist you with, just say the word."

Calvin then laid out the general scope of the investigation he and the Luther Family had pieced together, detailing the specifics to Vicente.

Well, speak of the devil.

In the end, he said nothing—simply stood and followed.

lissa caught on instantly and pouted.

No sooner had the thought crossed her mind than his calm but displeased voice cut through the air.

Vicente arched an eyebrow.

Vicente—one of those alternative asures Calvin had in mind.

"President Calvin."

The impeccably tailored light gray suit accentuated his aristocratic poise and quiet intensity.

Paired with his chiseled, handso features, he exuded an overwhelming masculine aura.

"Should I inform President Taylor and have him send soone to retrieve Miss Taylor?"

"Mr. Vicente has arrived."

Now, regret gnawed at her.

Calvin and my brother are close friends—he must know about this.

"Coming!"

"President Calvin and I have so matters to discuss.

His deep-set eyes were calm as still water, yet couldn’t conceal their sharp intensity.

Downstairs.

Just then, Jey stepped out of the elevator.

"Of course I’m eager! I want to see Calvin as soon as possible..."

Vicente lifted his gaze, taking in her restless expression, his eyes darkening imperceptibly.

"You an... President Taylor is tacitly approving Miss Taylor’s relationship with Mr. Vincent—"

I’d like to ask for your help in locating soone."

I’ll check things out first before deciding whether to call ho.

Leaning forward, Calvin personally poured tea for Vicente.

Because of their close friendship, he had always treated lissa like a younger sister.

When she’d left the capital on a whim to follow Vicente, she hadn’t thought things through.

"Mr. Vincent, please."

lissa imdiately rose from her seat and strode toward the elevator.

"Why hasn’t Calvin let us up yet? I thought it was urgent?"

"I never realized you could be this impulsive—vanishing without even leaving a word for Taylor?

"Miss Taylor, this way, please."

Calvin abruptly cut himself off under his employer’s piercing gaze.

lissa didn’t catch the edge in his tone.

Will you stay, or...?"

lissa shrank under Calvin’s stern, icy expression, her courage instantly deflating.

Their contrasting temperants—one hard, one soft—should have clashed, yet sohow harmonized perfectly.

The woman beside him wore a fitted light blue top with a white pleated skirt.

"Straight to the point," Calvin replied, his expression sharpening as he cut to the chase.

"I’ll take care of it.

"Mr. Calvin," Jey said as he strode into the room.

"That’s right.

"If he wanted her back, he wouldn’t have waited till now."

"Vicente," lissa glanced anxiously toward the elevator.

With Vicente present, Calvin couldn’t very well scold her—not when he still needed Vicente’s help with Fanny’s matter.

So they didn’t want her listening in?

"Mr. Vincent, Miss Taylor, President Calvin sent to escort you upstairs."

Calvin also lifted his gaze, giving lissa a cool, assessing glance.

Vicente gave a slight nod but remained silent. Calvin shifted his gaze to Jey.

"Calvin," lissa called out, stepping in ahead of Jey and the others, her gaze fixed on Calvin.

Vicente’s dark, inscrutable gaze lingered on her retreating figure for a long mont.

There was no denying it—the ga family’s influence here was formidable.

The Taylor family’s search for lissa had been anything but discreet—it’d been impossible to ignore.

Was it just her imagination, or had Calvin deliberately emphasized those last two words?

A broad-shouldered man in loose black casual wear sprawled across a leather chair, the relaxed clothing failing to conceal his athletic physique.

"As long as it’s within my power, I won’t refuse."

But you certainly seem eager."

Vicente glanced at the young woman hiding behind him, the faintest hint of a smirk tugging at the corner of his lips.

His legs were planted apart with an air of unstudied dominance.

Jey’s voice ca from behind.

"Mr. Vincent isn’t alone this ti—Miss Taylor is with him," Jey observed his boss’s expression before continuing cautiously.

Inside the office.

His strikingly handso face remained impassive as he spoke.

Jey nodded at the two n before following her.

"After all this ti, do you really think Taylor doesn’t know?"

Calvin reclined on the sofa, crossing his long legs.

The fact that she had recklessly run off with so man without a second thought—while it didn’t anger him as much as it had Taylor—certainly didn’t please him either.

Standing before the expansive floor-to-ceiling window, Calvin remained silent, his brow furrowed.

"Show them in."

Was Calvin about to lecture her too?

"I’ll go and escort them upstairs imdiately."

Shooting Calvin a covert glare, lissa turned and strode out.

Tch, all she cared about was whether her dear brother was upset—she couldn’t be bothered with anything else right now.

"I’m aware that your people have extensive knowledge of Country E, Mr. Vincent.

Calvin said nothing, rely lighting a cigarette between his thin lips with practiced ease.

The search for Fany had encountered nurous obstacles, driving ho the old adage: "A mighty dragon is no match for a local serpent."

Vicente nodded and settled onto the sofa across from Calvin, his deep eyes flicking toward lissa.

If they wanted to find Fany quickly, alternative asures would be necessary.

"I—I wasn’t thinking straight at the ti."

Co find when you’re done talking."

Calvin frowned as he looked at her.

Calvin didn’t mince words, leaning back in his chair with a nod.

"Don’t ntion it," Vicente took a sip of tea before setting the cup down, his gaze lifting to et Calvin’s with composed warmth.

Calvin arched a brow, clearly unimpressed with her excuse.

Vicente understood lissa’s intention, yet the tightness in his chest refused to ease.

Her fair skin and delicate features radiated youthful charm, giving off an indescribable sweetness.

Before long, a servant entered with freshly brewed tea, setting it before them.

Just then, Jey and Vicente walked in.

That was why she hadn’t dared contact her family all this ti—she could only imagine how furious her brother must be.

From behind, she practically radiated eagerness.

Calvin narrowed his eyes slightly, his tone firm.

The ga family."
