Chapter 1596: Chapter 1598: Rember ?

Chiang Xiao leaned back against the sofa, frowned slightly, and said, “Didn’t you say your family had other relatives? Why don’t you go find them? Why not return abroad and stay with your uncle—why insist on staying in the Capital City?”

Nian Mutong looked a bit puzzled, “My uncle sent

here and won’t let

leave. Honestly, I don’t even know why. He said once he finishes dealing with his affairs after the New Year, he’ll co back, and then I’ll find out. Chiang Xiao, I just wanted to ask you—can I move back into the ng Family ho? Three months, I’ll stay at most three more months before I leave!”

“Go talk to the ng Family yourself. I’m not getting involved in this,” Chiang Xiao said indifferently. “But you’d better not step a single foot into Xinian’s room or cause any trouble. Otherwise…”

“I won’t, I won’t!” Nian Mutong imdiately said. “Besides, isn’t your room always locked? I couldn’t enter even if I wanted to.”

“How did you find your way here?” Chiang Xiao asked again.

Nian Mutong answered straightforwardly, “Sister Du Jinruo told .”

Chiang Xiao frowned.

So, Du Jinruo is still keeping tabs on her and ng Xinian? No, more accurately, keeping tabs on ng Xinian, which is how she discovered where she lives now.

What does she want?

All these years—could she truly still be so hung up on ng Xinian?

“Can you leave?”

Chiang Xiao had no interest in talking with her further.

“I’ll leave right now.”

Nian Mutong had initially planned to ask her for a few bucks, but seeing how cold she was, her pride made it impossible to open her mouth and ask.

Once she stepped out, after taking only a few steps, she noticed a man from the neighboring unit walking out. He brushed past her and headed to Chiang Xiao’s place.

Really? Chiang Xiao is this close with a young male neighbor?

She was alone at ho, with a single man visiting—couldn’t sothing happen?

Nian Mutong walked away, mulling it over. She had no money for a ride, so she decided to walk to Du Jinruo and borrow so cash. After walking for a while, she saw a tall, composed young man approaching from the opposite direction. He wore a white shirt and olive-green trousers, his gaze steady and commanding.

So handso.

Nian Mutong marvelled internally, slowing her steps as she brushed past him.

Cheng Cheng hadn’t noticed Nian Mutong at first, but as she was about to pass him, his expression shifted subtly. On instinct, he reached out and grabbed her arm, speaking in a low, steady voice, “It’s you?”

Nian Mutong gasped in surprise, turning to yank her hand away—but froze mid-movent when she got a closer look at him. From this distance, he appeared even more striking and captivating!

Her face flushed as she lightly struggled, “Who are you? What are you doing?”

The man’s eyes shifted from indifferent to intense. He looked at her, his speech suddenly quickened, “Do you rember ? The cave, the vine—you saved !”

What is he talking about?

What cave? What vine? How did she save him?

Nian Mutong stared at him in shock, thinking to herself, Could this impossibly handso man actually be a lunatic?

Cheng Cheng saw her stunned expression and misunderstood, thinking she hadn’t expected to run into him here. His lips curved into a sudden smile. “Perfect, searching high and low and finding nothing! I had planned to find soone else to confirm this, but I happened to et you. I’m Cheng Cheng. What’s your na?”

“Nian Mutong…” Nian Mutong answered her na in a daze.

Judging by the way he spoke, he didn’t seem like a lunatic at all.

“Co with . Let’s find a place—I have a few questions to ask you.” Cheng Cheng let go of her arm.

Nian Mutong stood still, unmoving.
