Father Wang and Mrs. Wang returned ho and called Wang Hu to tell him about Bai Fanglan’s miscarriage.

"I see, I’ll find so ti to talk to her." Wang Hu’s voice was very calm, but inside he was a turmoil of emotions. This was his first child, and Bai Fanglan lost it. He was already very upset, and after hearing Mrs. Wang’s words, his feelings beca even more complicated.

Bai Fanglan is really disappointing!

But he could only comfort his parents a bit, didn’t express his opinions about Bai Fanglan, and went on with his own business.

Several tis he wanted to call Bai Fanglan, but thinking about what she had done made him feel disappointed. On top of that, he was in a bad mood and worried they might end up arguing directly, so he didn’t contact his wife.

Bai Fanglan stayed in the hospital for a few days and then went ho to recover. She didn’t contact Wang Hu either.

She felt very wronged, recovering by herself, injured physically, and not a single visit from her in-laws or a phone call from her husband, which made her feel even more aggrieved, and so they began a cold war.

Bai Chuan advised her once: "If you want to bla soone, bla Gu Junming and Sun Chan. The Wang Family haven’t wronged you. What are you doing this for? Last ti in the hospital room, you behaved very inappropriately towards them. They are your elders, why did you throw a tantrum with them? Do you really not want this marriage anymore?"

Bai Fanglan replied: "Grandpa, if you really care about , please don’t pressure . I don’t want to make a call for now. I want to see just how heartless Wang Hu can be!"

She turned over and went to sleep.

Bai Chuan had no choice but to secretly call Father Wang and Mrs. Wang to apologize on behalf of his granddaughter. No matter what, they couldn’t offend the Wang Family. He simply said that his granddaughter was emotionally traumatized and talking nonsense.

"Once she’s better, she’ll co ho."

The Wang Family was very cultured and didn’t say much, but they weren’t very warm either and didn’t even co to visit.

Bai Chuan was very angry, but seeing his already haggard granddaughter, he couldn’t say anything and had to endure it.

Sun Chan and Gu Juntao returned ho that day and first spoke to a man from a neighboring household. The man didn’t know what had happened at first and greeted them with a laugh: "You’re here! The young man is looking quite energetic!"

Gu Junming said, "Sorry, brother, your wife has had so trouble. I need to inform you she won’t be coming back for now. It’s related to us."

"Ah? What happened?" The neighbor was taken aback, his heart racing. Was there a fight?

Gu Junming explained the situation to him: "That’s it, the leaders from the unit and the police station decided to detain her for half a month."

The man’s emotions were mixed; he was angry and ashad, but more than anything, he was furious with his wife! What a disgraceful act; he had long warned her not to speak carelessly, and now it finally backfired!

He scratched his head, "This troublemaking woman, always talking nonsense! Serves her right!"

Sun Chan said, "I’m really sorry too. She apologized, and I could have forgiven her to let her out sooner, but I can’t forgive her, so she needs to face punishnt to prevent reckless talk in the future."

"No need to apologize, young lady. I understand. This is my wife’s fault. She’s always been like this! I knew trouble would co eventually. Let them detain her; at least this might teach her a lesson! Well, I have things to do, so I’ll be going." With that, he nodded to them and slamd the door behind him.

Gu Junming and Sun Chan exchanged a look and said nothing, regardless of what the man was actually thinking inside. But he was certainly more sensible than his troublemaking wife.

Sun Chan asked, "What should we do now?"

Gu Junming thought for a mont and said, "Let’s pack up our stuff. I’ll find us a place, and when everything’s ready, we can move out. This ti we’ll find an apartnt, so you won’t have to keep using the stove anymore."

"Sounds good."

The two went inside and packed up clothes, books, and so fruits into boxes. Since they were looking for an apartnt, they didn’t need to take coal, which made things easier.

Sun Chan was worried about the money: "I don’t earn a lot, so I’m worried about affording it."

"Don’t worry, I’m here. Let’s not rent a small house. It’s in a remote area. If you co ho late, I won’t feel safe, and if the neighbors aren’t easy to get along with, it’ll be troubleso." Gu Junming made the decision, not letting her object.

Sun Chan agreed but didn’t want Gu Junming to pay all by himself since she had so savings too.

Everything else was fine, but the iron wires and the tal pieces collected in the yard were a bit troubleso. Sun Chan decided to sell them.

"I’ve noticed there’s an old man outside who cos to collect junk every afternoon. I’ll sell the iron to him."

Gu Junming said, "If you wait for the recycling people to co by, we can take the stuff to them ourselves and make an extra two cents. Just wait a mont!" After saying this, he went out and ca back later with a cart. The two of them painstakingly loaded the iron wires and tal pieces onto it, then together pushed it to the recycling center. On the way, Sun Chan even picked up so glass bottles and cardboard to throw onto the cart.

Gu Junming said, "Is that necessary? We’re not relying on this to make a living."

Sun Chan waved her hand, "It’s fine. You know, these bottles go for ten cents each, and the cardboard is forty cents a pound. It doesn’t add up to much, but all together, it’s still quite profitable." She laughed as she spoke, tossing two more pieces of cardboard from the ground into the cart.

Gu Junming said, "I never imagined my wife being such a money-lover."

"Of course! You know I can only make one or two cents profit per pound of fruit sold, sotis even lose money. But the bottles are all profit." Sun Chan laughed, not caring about the looks from the passersby.

Gu Junming thought to himself how hard it was for Sun Chan to earn money, saving pennies at a ti. He resolved to treat her well.

The two of them pushed the cart together, walking for almost half an hour before reaching the recycling center. The scrap iron weighed eighty-nine pounds, going for one yuan and twenty-five cents per pound, which sold for a total of one hundred and twenty yuan.

The price wasn’t the best, but since Sun Chan wanted to sell quickly, they had no choice but to take a loss. The bottles and cardboard sold for a total of two yuan and fifty cents, which was a bit less than she expected but still not bad.

Gu Junming thought it wasn’t too little: "This amount is more than a regular worker’s monthly salary."

Sun Chan said, "The boxes and plastic wrap from my fruit stall can also be sold. I’ll sell them too, and then buy you so ribs."
