Chapter 22: Chapter 22: The Warmth of Shen Ci Chapter 22: Chapter 22: The Warmth of Shen Ci ng Chuyue had only prepared light-colored, long clothing for Fu Song to change into.

She herself, under the broad daylight, lacked the courage to change as a young lady.

Nor was it necessary, as she was about to tumble in the coal heap.

The reason she bought herself two sets of clothes was for wearing after arriving in Hai City.

The clothes in her space were too trendy, not suitable for showing before handing over Fu Song, for the clever Fu Song would suspect sothing.

ng Chuyue brought Fu Song to the stack of bricks, and just as she was about to hand him the clothes, she unexpectedly saw a person leaning against a stack.

A young man, injured in the leg and listlessly leaning against the stack of bricks.

She was startled, frantically examining the other’s face, and took another huge fright.

Could it really be Shen Ci?

Why was Shen Ci here?

Except for a slightly cleaner face, everywhere else on his body was black as coal—had he co from the coal mines?

And, how had his leg beco injured?

ng Chuyue carefully observed Shen Ci’s pale countenance and drooping eyelids while searching her mory for information about his previous life.

Shen Ci and Han Zheng, Fu Song’s previous foster father, were the only two people that ng Chuyue admired and respected in her previous life.

Han Zheng wasn’t married in his previous life and had no biological children, but the nine children he adopted were all excellent people, not only capable but also virtuous.

Such discerning and adept qualities made ng Chuyue imnsely respect him.

As for Shen Ci, what ng Chuyue admired about him was his resilience and toughness and, of course, another fact—Shen Ci was ng Wanhua’s neighbor in Hai City, and she had seen him as a youth.

In his pri, Shen Ci was a top-tier tycoon, but his experiences before success were even more pitiful than Fu Song’s.

His father was a good-for-nothing scion of the third-rate Shen Family in Hai City, and his mother was a mistress scheming to replace his official wife.

As for him, if the Shen Family had acknowledged him, or if one of his parents had cherished him, that might have been enough.

Unfortunately, not only did the Shen Family not recognize him, but his parents also took no notice of him.

Moreover, because of his exceptionally handso appearance, he was frequently bullied by his half-siblings.

It was said that his right leg beca slightly disabled due to an injury inflicted by people hired by his older brother when he was twenty, and because it wasn’t tily treated.

What impressed ng Chuyue was that despite being cruelly battered by fate, Shen Ci hadn’t deviated from his path; he built his business empire through legitimate ans.

Wait, twenty years old?

She rembered that Shen Ci was about two years older than her, and she was nearly eighteen, which ant that the injury that caused his leg disability in his previous life was right now?

Wasn’t tily treated?

That ant, if it was treated promptly, it wouldn’t result in a disability?

ng Chuyue glanced at the nearby health clinic and back at the train, then quickly made a decision.

She wanted to take Shen Ci to the health clinic.

Not to ntion that Shen Ci was soone she admired in her previous life, when she was sixteen and miserably failed her middle school exams, he had given her a sweet apple that ward her desperate heart—even if it were a stranger, could she just stand by and not help?

She gently poked Shen Ci’s arm.

“Shen Ci, the health clinic is over there.

I want to take you there; can you cooperate?”

Shen Ci struggled to open his eyes, feeling the girl in front of him looked sowhat familiar but couldn’t recall who it was.

He weakly asked, “…who are you?”

“I am ng Wanhua’s daughter; you gave an apple the year before last, do you rember?”

The daughter of Aunt ng from across the door?

Shen Ci recalled for a mont, then smiled bitterly and curled his lips, “I don’t rember… but, you look a lot like your mom.

I’m not going… to the health clinic.

Do you have water and food?

I’m fine, just hungry.”

ng Chuyue looked at his dry, chapped lips, hurriedly dragged her Oxford bag over, and fumbled inside for a can of oranges.

With a “pop,” she twisted it open and held it to his mouth.

Shen Ci tried to hold the can himself, but his trembling hand raised it halfway and weakly dropped.

Seeing this, ng Chuyue had no choice but to tilt the can slightly, feeding him the canned juice.

She ignored the juice that spilled out.
