Chapter 283: Chapter 283: Decryption

After the farce by the river, the news of Xuexue’s lost chastity was quickly debunked; everyone knew that Lady Li, seeking revenge on Big Bull for throwing her off the ox cart and holding a grudge, had deliberately sought retaliation.

Now, the primary topic of discussion among the villagers was Lady Li’s public disgrace by the river.

Many won in the village were secretly cursing Lady Li for having no sha, for disgracing the won of Mo Family Village and still daring to spread rumors that Xuexue was not behaving properly. In their eyes, the person who behaved the least properly and cared the most about their reputation in Mo Family Village was none other than her.

These past few days had been especially tough for Lady Li, due to the embarrassing incident by the river, she didn’t venture beyond her main or side doors, cooping up at ho all day, too scared to et anyone.

When her husband Mo Si ca ho groggy from drink, as soon as he entered the door, without a word, he gave her a big slap right across the face…

“Smack.”

Reeling from the hit, Lady Li imdiately flew into a towering rage. Previously, her husband had always been compliant to her, but today he dared to hit her—as if the heavens had turned upside down! She imdiately started a relentless argunt…

“You deadbeat! Always out and the mont you co ho, you’re out of your mind. I can’t live like this anymore, ah wuu wuu wuu…!” Being cooped up at ho had been suffocating enough, and now that she had a chance to vent, Lady Li wailed even louder.

“I can’t stand it, indeed! I pamper you with good food and drink, and what do I get in return? You make an utter fool of yourself! How am I supposed to face anyone in Mo Family Village now?” Mo Si too felt wronged. Just now, as he walked through the village, he had overheard the Great Masters talking about his wife. It would be strange if he, a normal man, didn’t get angry.

“I didn’t do anything shaful, why can’t you face people?!” Lady Li always held herself above her husband and refused to admit her faults.

“You… you…”

“What’s the matter? Wanting to hit

again? Co on then, just kill . It’s not like I can live this kind of life any longer.” Lady Li defiantly positioned herself in front of Mo Si, adopting the stance of a shrew.

“You… you wretched woman…”

Mo Si, who usually was not good with words, was no match for Lady Li. Fuming with anger and at his wit’s end, he turned and stord out, slamming the door behind him.

“Good riddance, if you have the guts don’t co back!” Lady Li cursed at her husband’s retreating figure.

That night, Mo Si did not return ho.

Lady Li waited for him until late into the night, her eyelids heavy with sleep, until she couldn’t stay awake any longer. She had to half-close the door and retire to her bedroom.

In the village lived Erlaizi, poor as a church mouse and still unwed past thirty. A few days earlier, upon seeing Lady Li by the river, lust had filled his heart. Observing the argunt between Mo Si and Lady Li and Mo Si taking the ox cart to leave the village, he took advantage of the dim night and sneaked over.

On tiptoes, he quietly and carefully opened the half-closed wooden gate of the courtyard and headed straight into Lady Li’s bedroom…

“Creak!”

The soft sound of the door opening still woke Lady Li, who was in bed. Thinking it was her husband returning, she felt a secret joy, but she spoke nastily, “Deadbeat, I thought you weren’t coming ho?”

In the darkness, Erlaizi was scared half to death by Lady Li’s sudden speech. He wanted to flee but also felt unwilling to do so, and so he stood beside the bed, not moving.

“My back is killing

today, husband. Hurry up and give

a massage.”

“Um,” Erlaizi mumbled a vague response.

“What are you waiting for? Hurry up!” Lady Li turned, showing her back to Erlaizi.

Left with no choice, since he couldn’t just leave, Erlaizi went forward to massage Lady Li.
