Chapter 634: Chapter 152: The Unusual Marquises
The situation among the civilians has not yet caught the attention of most High Rank Professionals and Nobles. Anvis noticed it solely due to a Prophet’s sensitivity to destiny.
Anvis was well aware that many people were still reluctant to give up on the chanical Network.
Although the recent wave of sacrifices orchestrated by the Councilman had left the victims of Ninth Rank still entangled in Ma’elim’s negative Strength, the imnse benefits brought by the chanical Network were self-evident.
Not to ntion, before the Councilman initiated the ‘Final Plan’, that imnse, almost Divine-like feeling of power was enough to make anyone who truly understood it addicted.
Indeed, handing over the highest control of the network to soone else could be dangerous, but wouldn’t creating a similar network independently be the best of both worlds?
With this mindset, although no one ntioned it openly, so ambitious individuals still planned to restart the ‘chanical Network 2.0’ plan in secret.
In fact, the reason why the Federation officials had not collected the headbands was partly due to the influence of these individuals.
The key to the chanical Network still lies with its users; as long as there is no public opinion against the chanical Network, the foundation remains intact.
Now, with this trend suddenly erging among the Federation’s civilians, Anvis found it hard not to suspect that soone was getting impatient and wanted to stir up trouble.
Fortunately, at Pamir Academy, his true self was attracting a lot of attention due to the Constant Gold Club incident and was currently keeping a low profile.
Anvis decided to let his avatar handle the routine at the academy while his true self took the opportunity to withdraw and focus mainly on the Federation area.
However, although Anvis was temporarily not focused on the situation in the Empire, the turmoil caused by his encounter with the Constant Gold Club was just beginning.
After the departure of the two Phantoms suspected to be Marquis Draka and Vice Chancellor Hughes, Anvis told the Duke the whole process of their visit and thoroughly described how Marquis Draka tested him.
Vice Chancellor Hughes had given him one thousand credits upon arrival as a proof of identity, and as compensation for frightening the students with the space confined in their room.
But the nature of the matter changed after Marquis Draka made a move to test him.
Although the other party did not physically act, Anvis’s identity as a direct descendant of the Olivendi Family Head was placed in front of them.
Just as when he left Karlars Province initially, the Duke had specifically admonished him, ‘Once out of Karlars, you represent the face of the Olivendi Family—’
Anvis was unsure why the other party did this, but it did not prevent him from fully recounting the process to Duke Carrot.
Duke Carrot, knowing the situation, took the matter very seriously and brought it up at the nobles regular eting convened by Emperor Gloria, strongly and publicly demanding an explanation from Marquis Draka.
By convention, due to the vast disparity between a Marquis and the Four Great Dukes, Marquis Draka should bleed a little, then other Marquises along with peacemakers from the Enock family would step in to help settle the issue and eventually let it pass.
This way, the Olivendi Family would benefit and maintain their dignity, others would also gauge Anvis’s capabilities and then decide how to treat this descendant of the Olivendi Family.
But what actually happened was that Marquis Draka, arguing that he had not made a move, forcefully countered.
“Don’t maliciously slander the relationships among Empire Nobles, dear Duke Karlars, I certainly did not ‘maliciously’ target your descendant.
It was just that I was sowhat amazed by his Talent and got a bit carried away, accidentally not reining in my montum—”
Looking at Duke Carrot who was glaring at him, Marquis Draka’s dark gold eyes narrowed, his tone was incredibly strong, and also sowhat sarcastic.
“It was just a bit of a pressure from montum, after all, nothing serious really happened, why not just let this matter slide?”
“Marquis Draka probably didn’t an it, Duke Carrot might not need to press too hard, right?”
At the sa ti, the other two Marquises unusually spoke in unison, supporting Draka’s actions, asserting that rely releasing control over one’s own montum could not be considered as intentionally targeting Anvis.
Perhaps Marquis Draka had just been holding back for too long and wanted to relax a bit, and it just so happened to occur in Anvis’s room.
“Is this where your confidence stems from?”
Duke Carrot let out a snort of derision, scanning the other two speaking Marquises as well.
Marquis Beixi, Marquis Winter.
Duke Carrot knew them both, each a Marquis with a rather aggressive style in daily affairs, and he was hardly surprised to see them band together now.
If they thought that the combined force of three Marquises could shake one of the Four Great Families of the Empire, they were sorely mistaken.
“Very well! Since that’s the case, there’s nothing more to be said. The Olivendi Family fears no challenge.
However, I hope that when others also ‘accidentally’ do sothing in the future, you can maintain the sa confidence you display now…”
With a cold laugh, Duke Carrot prepared to conclude his speech.
“Duke Carrot, I too believe that Marquis Draka’s actions were without fault.”
Just as Duke Carrot was about to sit down, the usually silent Marquis Anrita suddenly spoke softly, clearly aligning herself with Marquis Draka.
“If Marquis Draka had truly made his move, Anvis would not have been able to withstand it unless… he had so unknown secret.”
“Marquis Anrita, you think so too?”
Taken aback, Duke Carrot looked at Anrita with a trace of suspicion, halting his motion to sit down and slowly standing straight again.
This neutrally aligned woman Marquis was joining Draka’s camp this ti?
Suddenly realizing sothing, Duke Carrot’s gaze flashed like lightning across the other few silently observing Marquises. In that fleeting glimpse, he caught a disturbing sign in their eyes.
This caused Duke Carrot’s heart to sink slowly, accompanied by an uneasy premonition.
“Marquis Draka’s actions have greatly insulted the dignity of the Olivendi Family. I believe he must publicly apologize to the Olivendi Family for this incident.”
Sensing sothing was amiss, Family Head Alfred promptly spoke, declaring his stance with the Olivendi Family.
anwhile, his gaze swept over Family Head Enock and Aslade, seeking so support and warning these Marquises.
However, he was taken aback when the latter sent an indifferent look, and the forr suddenly started studying the magic patterns on his own Magic Robe as if it contained so profound magic truths.
“Your Majesty, please make a ruling.”
Realizing the situation was spiraling out of control, Duke Carrot directly turned his attention to Emperor Gloria III, who had been sitting in the principal seat and had remained silent throughout.
“My ruling?”
Upon hearing Duke Carrot’s question, Emperor Gloria III let out a peculiar chuckle.
“This matter, I fear, must be slowly discussed among yourselves to reach a decision. Right now, I have an announcent to make.
Due to health issues, I need to take so ti off to recuperate. In my stead, my appointed Governor will handle mundane affairs temporarily.
And if any significant issues arise during my recuperation, then it’s up to all of you to decide how best to handle them.”
Having said this, before a stunned Duke Carrot could collect himself, Emperor Gloria III rose from his seat and vanished like a Phantom.
