Chapter 596: Chapter 114: The Real World
“I can see that you are different from them; you will eventually beco my companion.”
Although he was being watched with ill intent by three of the Four Nightmares of the sa rank, Madness of Desius regarded them as if they were air, rely facing Anvis as he spoke.
“Would you like to see what it is like to awaken from the illusion dream prematurely and witness the true face of this world?”
As he spoke, it seed he suddenly rembered sothing, and Desius, his dark green crown swaying, added another explanation.
“Don’t worry about anything. Unlike , once you see the reality of the world, you are free to sink back into the illusion dream if you so choose.”
The true face of the world?
Looking into Desius’ purely dark green, strange eyes, Anvis hesitated.
The first ti he t Desius, it was in the identity of Dark Tidis. Now Desius had directly approached him, without giving a second glance at Tidis, indicating that his true target had always been him.
“How can you make see the reality of the world?”
“It’s simple. Just cover your eyes with this leaf, and let it dissolve into your gaze.”
Desius shook his large tree-like body, and from his crown, a dark green, oddly-shaped oval leaf fell into the hands of Anvis.
“You don’t really believe his words, do you, Lord Anvis? He himself is the embodint of madness, embodying the entirety of madness within the Inheritance Land.
You must understand, no madman thinks they are crazy; they only think that the entire world is mad, and that they alone remain sane!”
However, before Anvis could react, Despair’s Black Abyss abruptly spoke out, refuting Desius.
He had always disliked this mad fellow, as almost every ti his plans failed, it happened due to an error on this guy’s part.
“I also think, trusting Desius’ words like this might involve great risks.”
“In that case, I have a suggestion. Before you try the thod provided by Desius, how about you try to make him join us as well? After confirming there are no risks, then proceed with the attempt?”
At the side, Lilith of Lust also spoke up, offering an even safer proposal.
“So, Desius, what do you say?”
After hearing the suggestions from the two Nightmare Spirits, Anvis looked once more at the peculiar half-tree half-elf in front of him.
“If you insist, then I have no objections.”
Calmly staring at Anvis’ face, Desius gently nodded.
Thus, just like the other Four Nightmares, Anvis signed a Contract with him and planted the Twisted Seed. After all this was completed, Desius’ attitude remained unchanged.
Seeing this, Anvis also relaxed. But just as he was about to place the leaf in front of his eyes, Desius suddenly spoke.
“Before you truly awaken, you must understand one fact: we exist within a mad illusion dream, and awakeners have no friends.”
As Anvis pondered the aning of Desius’ words, the pitch-black leaf lted before his eyes and then turned into a black liquid that flowed into his eyes.
This phenonon signified so trait of Desius invading his body, and thus, the view of the whole world began to gradually change before his eyes.
The main body of this small world remained shrouded in darkness, but now it was interspersed with so dark red hues, imnse in size, floating like ribbons throughout this world.
At this mont, a stream of dark red ‘Floating Ribbon’ — like a massive mountain range coming head-on — was slowly sweeping towards them.
Anvis frowned, looking to see Desius’ reaction, but suddenly realized that his form had already changed.
Originally, Deus’s Elf upper body did not show any gender traits, but in his current gaze, Deus had transford into an Elf girl holding a strange dark green branch, with long curly hair as dazzlingly golden as the sun.
However, Anvis could not help but feel that Deus’s current face seed oddly familiar.
“…Antinoya?”
A mont later, Anvis finally rembered the source of this familiarity. It was the Elf girl nad Antinoya whom he had once seen in the underground ruins city, through the perspective of a bystander.
In Claire’s mory, he had seen Antinoya’s appearance, her golden hair brilliant like the sun, and her eyes blue like a snowy ice lake.
“Antinoya? This na seems sowhat familiar, is she the owner of this branch?”
Watching the massive red gaseous Floating Ribbon sweep towards them, Deus seed to think for a mont before responding expressionlessly.
Unlike the previous neutral voice, his, or now her, voice was completely identical to that of Antinoya in Anvis’s mory.
“My appearance, it’s because of this branch… Ever since I obtained this branch, my appearance changed to this.”
Saying this, Tidis shook the green branch in his hand, and suddenly a vacuum spherical zone ford around them, encapsulating the two and warding off the red fog.
In the eyes of the other three Nightmare Spirits, it seed the treetop of Madness of Desius suddenly began to shake on its own.
But he also often did so incomprehensible actions, and the other three Nightmare Spirits were not surprised by this.
“What happens if this fog touches you?”
Looking around the world, Anvis’s tone carried a bit of curiosity.
In his eyes, the forms of the other three Four Nightmares had also changed.
Lilith of Lust turned into a swirling mass of pink fog, at the center of which were two heart shapes of different sizes nested together, with two curved vine patterns extending out in a glowing peachy pink.
Despair’s Black Abyss turned into a massive black blister wrapping around countless skeletons, their hollow eye sockets looking at him, and Dark Tidis was entirely a pitch black mass.
“They will affect your consciousness, making you even more mad. But for those beings who exist in illusion dreams, perhaps they won’t notice them at all.”
The voice of Deus ca leisurely, yet with a slight surprise.
“Your thod of forming a Contract seems very special; even in the real world, they still don’t instinctively attack you after being contracted by you.”
Hearing Deus’s words, Anvis looked again at the three Nightmare Spirits.
At this mont, perhaps due to being too close, the surfaces of their bodies were emitting traits unique to each of them.
They moved like tentacles and smoke, eagerly attacking Deus’s Protection Barrier, yet deliberately avoiding the area where Anvis was.
Without explaining anything, but Anvis was clear in his heart that it was likely not due to the limitations of the Contract he had signed on the surface, but rather the effect of the Twisted Seed.
Even now, he still could not see through the nature of the Ancient Secret Scripture, only knowing it seed to be a collection of poems left by so extrely powerful being who had briefly transcended ti.
And suddenly, Anvis had a thought.
In the real world, what would he and the Ancient Secret Scripture look like?
With that thought, Anvis directly conjured a Magic Mirror in front of him with a wave of his hand.
If there were danger, Deus, the little white rat who had looked directly into the Ancient Secret Scripture more than once, would have been gone by now.
