In the afternoon, with the sun climbing high, Qi Yue watched Guan Yidao ride away on his horse.

She stood there, gazing unwaveringly until he was out of sight, and then she returned to the inn.

Though she hadn't rested all night, she didn't feel tired.

As Guan Yidao had said, when there's a chance for your goal to be achieved, you're filled with vigor.

She had accomplished both tasks she set out to do in Longnan, and next, she needed to find Qu Wei and her master, Huang Zai'an.

When the Hu Family father and son had attacked Huang Zai'an and the others, Qu Wei happened to be at the pharmacy. After helping them escape, he had also beco an enemy of Hu Keqing and was being pursued.

While looking for Guan Yidao, Qi Yue had inquired about the situation and learned that the Northern Ridge prison was now under the Hu Family's control.

According to what the exiles had said, Qu Wei hadn't been seen since spring, which coincided with the ti they went to Dongjiang together.

That ant, since leaving Longnan County Governnt, he hadn't returned here, or to be precise, to the prison.

Qi Yue spread out the map of Longnan County Governnt she carried with her, scanning it rapidly.

Based on the information she had, it was impossible for them to still be in Longnan County Governnt. Escaping to another county governnt would be suicide. The most likely place was still within the depths of Longnan Ridge.

If they hadn't gone to the prison, the only place left was the valley where her master had taken refuge.

But Hu Chengxuan and his son knew about that ravine too, and they would certainly be waiting there like sitting ducks.

Huang Zai'an would have to be out of his mind to return there!

After mulling it over for a while, a burst of inspiration struck Qi Yue.

Previously, when she was gathering herbs for Zhao Xiyan in the deep mountains of Longnan Ridge, she discovered a valley and even dug out Hu Chengxuan's Thousand-Year Panax Notoginseng.

The valley was extrely secluded, and the terrain inside was difficult to navigate. If they hid there, they would likely remain undiscovered.

However, Hu Chengxuan also knew about that place, and she wasn't sure if Huang Zai'an would go there.

After thinking it through, Qi Yue still decided to search within Longnan Ridge.

She had been away for almost half a year and had no idea what had beco of her residence and pharmacy. She had to find Huang Zai'an.

In addition, she couldn't ignore these two people.

Hu Keqing's forces were still searching for them. If they were caught, things would not look good.

Qu Wei was probably safe for now, being the illegitimate son of Pri Minister Lin, but Huang Zai'an and Little Anzi were dood—one of them was bound to run into trouble.

After finalizing her plans, she returned to her space to cook so corn for the three White Rhinos and watched them eat. Then she made herself a few dishes and enjoyed a delicious al.

Just when she was thinking of resting for a while and hitting the road after dark, a rustling sound ca from the back window.

The Black Feather Guard had arrived!

Qi Yue hurried out of her space and opened the window.

A Fei Yu, dressed in black, jumped in through the window and knelt down on the spot.

"My lady, everything in Nanling has been arranged properly, and our people are now in place. Rest assured, this is the latest news," he said, presenting a letter with both hands.

Qi Yue took the letter, glanced at it briefly and tucked it into her bosom.

Everything was as she and Zhao Xiyan had anticipated—the Beiyuan Court was outwardly expressing goodwill while secretly conspiring with both Donggao and Nanyue.

This way, whatever atrocities the Hu father and son committed would be deed legitimate.

Even if she exposed Hu Chengxuan's collusion with Nanyue, and their embezzlent of military provisions and division of military assets, it would be futile.

Especially since Pri Minister Lin practically ruled unchallenged, almost becoming a regent of Beiyuan, and with Hu Keqing as his son-in-law, his word was law.

The current Hu Keqing didn't care at all for the common folk of Longnan and was intent on capitalizing on the situation to seize power and declare himself ruler.

As for her, she was constantly thinking about those she had poisoned.

The situation was poor, and she had to change it as soon as possible.

"Continue the surveillance on the Governor's Office. Imdiately report anything amiss. And don't miss any of Hu Keqing's moves," she ordered.

"Yes, my lady," the Fei Yu responded with a deep voice, then, as if rembering sothing, drew out a ssage tube from his bosom and handed it over.

"My lady, this is a letter from the Marquis. The Marquis also said that you should read it right away and reply," he added.

Watching Fei Yu's expressionless face suddenly light up with intense curiosity, Qi Yue was left speechless.

She pulled out a dagger and cut open the sealed ssage tube, indeed finding a rolled-up piece of paper inside.

As Qi Yue unfolded it, she instantly felt her cheeks flush with warmth.

This Zhao Xiyan!

Now that the entire southeast frontline is on lockdown, communication must be so difficult, yet, as the commander, he dares to use public resources for private matters.

No, not public, after all, these people are his.

But isn't using the channel for important ssages to send a love letter a bit too much?

No wonder Fei Yu spoke with such an expression!

Look at what's written on this note:

"Yueyue my love, I hope this letter finds you well. After a day apart, I miss you dearly, and I want to know if you feel the sa. If I receive your letter in six days, it will an you share my sentints. If not..."

There were several black dots following it, leaving its aning uncertain.

Is there a subtle threat in there?

Qi Yue tugged at the corner of her mouth.

Being in front of the Black Feather Guard, she couldn't say much and had to go to a desk to the side to write a reply.

"My dear, Marquis Xiaozhao, do you dare to finish your sentence? What will happen if I don't write back imdiately?"

The fellow sure had a clever way of doing things, knowing that the Black Feather Guard would take at least six days to travel between Longnan and Yecheng.

If she had sent a letter as soon as she arrived at Rishengchang, the Black Feather Guard could have made it to Yecheng day and night.

However, she had been busy these past few days and hadn't thought of Zhao Xiyan.

Even if she had, there was no need to risk the Black Feather Guard's life just to send a love letter, right?

Yet Zhao Xiyan just did that.

This guy truly seems to have the potential to beco a foolish monarch!

So send lychees across thousands of miles, but he sends a love letter!

After sealing the letter, she handed it over to Fei Yu, with an additional reminder.

"There's no need to deliver this letter specially. Send it with other important correspondence."

"Yes, master," Fei Yu responded, with faint cracks appearing on his placid face.

Whose orders should he follow now?

His own Marquis certainly wanted the letter delivered promptly!

After Fei Yu had left, it was still early, so Qi Yue went back to the space to catch up on so sleep, fed the three White Rhinos an extra al, and then took advantage of the night to leave Pingfeng Town.

After a night of hard riding, Qi Yue arrived at the valley where Huang Zai'an had lived before, as dawn broke.

Just as she expected, Huang Zai'an and Qu Wei weren't there. The whole valley looked as if it had been looted, with even the two small wooden houses burned down to charred ground.

Next, she went to the valley she had previously harvested herbs from, and to her surprise, there was no one there either!

If neither of these places had anyone, she would have to visit the native camp.

But her interactions with the natives were few, and she didn't know where their camp was located.

After so thought, she decided to rest for a while before searching, as she hadn't rested at all the previous night.

It was now morning, the sun was in the sky, but the dense forest canopy prevented its light from reaching the ground, leaving the air oppressively heavy.

Sowhat inexplicably, she found herself thinking of the wooden house she had built during her exile, and her steps unconsciously followed the path leading there.

Revisiting the old place stirred up emotions in her.

Although she knew the house might no longer stand or had been taken over by others, she still wanted to see it.

Driven by her thoughts, she quickened her pace and soon reached the familiar crossroad.

Two years on, the house looked a bit more worn, and many small houses had sprung up around it, giving the impression of a nascent village.

As Qi Yue moved closer to get a better look, she suddenly heard a familiar voice and involuntarily stopped in her tracks.
