Chapter 1323: Chapter 1323: Lost
And on the other side was Li Shuanzhu and his family.
This New Year was particularly quiet. In previous years, by this ti, Liu Hong would have already tidied up the house impeccably and prepared delicious food for them.
Although Li Shuanzhu didn’t like this wife, after all, she was very handy at tidying the house and getting things done.
She also took good care of the children and him.
But now, they were in the rented house.
His own woman, trying to save money, bought only so at and ribs for the New Year.
She didn’t prepare much of anything.
Besides so simple peanuts, lon seeds, and candies, mostly they had potatoes, cabbage, and tofu.
Who would have fresh vegetables in this season without spending a fortune?
He knew in his heart that his woman was saving money.
Of course, he couldn’t say much about it.
He had already bought the tickets, for the first day of the New Year, intending to go to Liu Hong’s house.
He thought about it and concluded that Liu Hong must have returned to her parents’ ho.
If she had nowhere else to go, where else would she go but her parents’ place?
He’d definitely find her at her parents’ ho.
But Li Shuanzhu was also worried inside, mainly concerned about Liu Hong’s two brothers at her ho.
Moreover, he felt guilty about his own wrongdoings, and his conscience was not clear.
However, sothing still happened on New Year’s Eve.
Li Shuanzhu ran to his sister Li Guihua’s place, wanting to bring his little daughter back. After all, it was New Year’s, and the family should be together. Leaving the daughter with the sister for New Year didn’t seem right,
but who knew that when he arrived at Li Guihua’s place, he didn’t see his daughter either inside or outside the house.
“Big brother, it’s almost the New Year, why are you coming to my house?”
Li Guihua hadn’t been having an easy ti lately.
Ever since their house was sold, they moved into a rental and went back to her mother-in-law’s place, where she constantly faced ridicule and scorn from her mother-in-law and the younger sisters-in-law.
With sarcastic remarks and veiled insults, they said things like a featherless phoenix is not as good as a chicken.
They even hinted that she had married under false pretenses.
These words infuriated Li Guihua to no end.
She’d been embroiled in psychological battles daily with her mother-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Arguing back and forth every day.
Chen Gui, caught in the middle, also advised her to endure more with his mother and sister.
In the past, Li Guihua would have already turned her back on them, but now she didn’t know when she could get the house back and didn’t want to make a move that couldn’t be undone.
Amidst all this hullabaloo, she completely forgot about Li Hao’s situation.
Honestly, that wasn’t her own child, and she didn’t genuinely care much for those three children initially.
Now that Liu Hong had taken things to the extre, the malice deep inside still unconsciously overflowed.
“Hey, where’s our little Hao? It’s New Year’s. I’m here to take her back to celebrate at ho.”
Li Guihua’s face suddenly changed, and Chen Gui, seeing his wife’s expression, imdiately knew she hadn’t told her brother about the child going missing because she was not a worry-free wife.
“Hurry up, where’s she? Let her co out.” Li Shuanzhu called anxiously.
Li Guihua’s face changed, her lips moved; she knew she had to say sothing.
Li Shuanzhu noticed his sister’s pale face and imdiately sensed that sothing was wrong.
“What happened? Is the child in so kind of trouble?”
“Big brother, calm down when I tell you. Li Hao ran away from ho.” Li Guihua, of course, wouldn’t tell her brother that she had kicked Li Hao out.
She imdiately made up a lie.
Anyway, that troubleso girl had run away from ho once before, so this wasn’t the first ti.
“What? When did she run away from ho?”
No matter how much he disliked Liu Hong, this child was still his flesh and blood, and he had patience for his children.
“Yesterday, you know how difficult it is to walk when it snows these past few days. We searched for her for a whole day and night and still didn’t find her.” Li Guihua was obviously lying.
Li Shuanzhu was startled, thinking that if the child stayed out in such a terrible storm for a night, she might freeze to death.
“The child went missing, why didn’t you tell ? We should hurry and call the police! What if sothing happens without warning anyone?” Li Shuanzhu beca anxious; after all, she was his flesh and blood.
“Big brother, how can I report it? It’s the New Year, how do you expect the police to start searching now? Besides, we’ve already looked through every nook and cranny on all the streets, but we haven’t found her. I suppose that little girl isn’t soone to be underestimated; maybe she ran off to a classmate’s house. It’s the New Year, people wouldn’t have the heart to kick her out.
It’s not like I didn’t look for her. You don’t know how difficult this child is. I’m busy all day taking care of the housework while making sure the child is okay. I asked her to help a little, and she just ran off in a huff.”
Li Guihua surely knew that if the child had been missing for so many days and had not been long gone, she might have been frozen, starved, or possibly kidnapped by traffickers.
Quite frankly, she only searched for an afternoon.
Life at ho had been chaotic, and she had her own young child to look after. How could she drain her energy and effort for soone else’s child?
Searching for an afternoon was already being fair to her brother at that ti.
Thinking of Liu Hong still made her grit her teeth in hatred. How could she be expected to look for Liu Hong’s child?
Later, not finding her, she simply made peace with it.
Li Shuanzhu slapped Li Guihua hard across the face.
That slap was fierce, and Li Guihua was utterly stunned, mainly because her big brother had never laid a hand on them from childhood to adulthood. No matter what mischief they did, he always sheltered them cheerfully from the storms.
This was the first ti.
“Li Guihua, that’s my daughter, your big brother’s flesh and blood. When she went missing, you didn’t even think to tell . Are you still my sister? That’s your niece.” Despite being ruthless by nature, for his own child, he still cared.
Li Guihua lifted her head, gritting her teeth, and yelled, her face contorted with such intensity that it appeared terrifying.
“Big brother, that’s not your child; that’s Liu Hong’s child. When Liu Hong had a child with soone else, do you really think that child is yours? Big brother, you call ruthless, call inhuman, but for whom am I doing this? Isn’t it for you?
Whose children are those three? Do you truly know in your heart? Especially Little Sansan — you hardly touched Liu Hong anymore over the years, yet she gives birth to a daughter,” she continued, “Have you never harbored doubts?
Considering it likely isn’t even your child, it doesn’t matter whether it’s alive or dead. What does it matter to you? I was the one who did this, and it was all for your good, big brother!”
Li Guihua felt justified in these twisted argunts, sincerely believing she was right.
How could Liu Hong ever be an easy woman to deal with?
If she were easy to handle, how could she have sold the house and land, taken the money, and run away?
You can’t possibly believe she was wholeheartedly living her days with big brother, could you?
