The next morning, after the two had breakfast at the hotel, Wu Yun put a yawning Qi Fei in the car. He dropped her off at school before turning around and heading for Phoenix Entertainnt.
The mont Qi Fei entered the classroom, she imdiately beca the center of attention. She was t with looks of envy, jealousy, and even a few fawning expressions.
"Feifei, over here!" From the back of the classroom, Li Yao raised her hand in a wave, only lowering it once she caught Qi Fei’s eye.
Qi Fei sat in the empty seat beside Li Yao and accepted the book Song Qin offered. She looked a little tired, but her complexion was fantastic. She wasn’t wearing any makeup, and her face had a healthy, rosy glow that made you want to reach out and pinch her cheeks.
"What’s wrong, Feifei? Did you not sleep well last night?" Song Qin asked with concern.
Qi Fei yawned again and said, "Xiaoyunzi drank too much last night and was being a handful. It took a lot of effort to get him settled. On top of that, I’m about to start filming, so I’m a bit too excited to sleep."
If it had been anyone else, they would have thought Qi Fei was showing off. After all, she had just made a social dia post the night before—after getting the okay from everyone involved—wishing Wu Yun success with his *Wolf Warrior* investnt and hoping for a smooth start to her own acting career.
But her words sounded different in the ears of her three friends. Zeng Shengnan asked with a sly grin, "Exactly how much of a handful was he?"
The question made Qi Fei blush crimson, and her three friends imdiately burst into laughter.
Still, the three were very curious about last night’s events. For one, they wanted to know if Wu Yun had invested in a TV series or a movie and for how much. For another, they were curious about what kind of role Qi Fei had landed.
So, Song Qin leaned in and asked softly, "Feifei, can you tell us? Did your Xiaoyunzi invest in a TV series or a movie?"
The news that Wu Jing was desperately seeking investors was only circulating among financiers and entertainnt companies. Very few university students would be privy to such information.
Qi Fei figured that since reporters would be at the contract signing later today, it would no longer be a trade secret. "He’s investing in *Wolf Warrior*, the movie Wu Jing is directing and starring in."
Li Yao imdiately chid in, "Judging by the na, it sounds like a war or action film. There probably aren’t many female roles in a movie like that. Feifei, how much did your Xiaoyunzi invest? Did he get you the lead role?"
Qi Fei smiled and said nonchalantly, "It’s just a female character with so lines. I’m not the lead actress; that role is already taken. As for the investnt..." Qi Fei held up her hand to gesture the number five.
The three of them understood imdiately. Wu Jing wouldn’t have made a special trip all the way to Modu for a small investnt of five million. And five hundred million? A production of that scale would have been hyped to the heavens by now.
That ant it had to be fifty million—an astronomical sum to everyone present. Of course, so of them might earn that much one day, but they would be the exception, not the rule.
Li Yao’s gaze grew complex, her thoughts a mystery.
Zeng Shengnan, on the other hand, joked cheerfully, "Feifei, since we can’t ride your Xiaoyunzi’s coattails, it looks like we’ll have to ride yours from now on!"
.....
Cara flashes lit up the room.
Wei Feng, still recovering from the previous night’s drinking, felt like his face was going to break from all the smiling he was doing for the caras.
He stood beside Wu Jing, shaking his hand. Each man held a folder containing the investnt agreent for *Wolf Warrior*.
As for Wu Yun, he had no desire to step into the spotlight just yet, at least as little as possible before he graduated. For now, he just wanted to lay low and quietly make his fortune. If he reached a point where he could no longer hide his status, well, he would cross that bridge when he ca to it.
Wu Yun stood in a corner of the eting room, watching the two n bathed in the spotlight, and couldn’t help but feel a little wistful. ’Fa is a double-edged sword,’ he thought. ’It brings greater opportunities, but it also cos with more constraints. Every word, every action, is influenced by your reputation.’
’Just think of all those cases where the very thing that catapulted soone to success was also their undoing. It’s one thing to be a little flashy in your personal life—it’s your own money, after all—but in so areas, you have to stay under the radar. Otherwise, you never know when you might end up on soone’s hit list.’
Wu Jing and Wei Feng then posed for the reporters and answered a few questions before finally sending off the satisfied journalists, whose pockets were now considerably heavier.
At noon, after lunch, Wu Jing said with a smile, "Wu Yun, Wei Feng, our flight is this afternoon, straight to the Capital City. I want to get back and start preparations imdiately—gather the cast as quickly as possible and hold the production launch ceremony. When we start the promotional push, I hope I can count on everyone’s full cooperation!"
"Wu Yun, my friend, I hear you’re coming to the Capital City soon too. Rember to give a call when you get there. I’ll treat you to a drink!" The night before, Wu Jing had learned that Wu Yun owned several companies and would soon be visiting the Capital City to inspect the Little Red Car Capital City Branch. He had been insisting on introducing Wu Yun to his friends in the industry and taking him out to eat.
Wu Yun chuckled. "Brother Jing, if ti permits, I’ll definitely look you up. But I have a feeling I’m going to be swamped."
"No problem. Business cos first," Wu Jing said with understanding, slinging an arm around Wu Yun’s shoulders. "We’ll have plenty of ti to drink and chat in the future. Besides, we have each other’s contact information, and it’s easy to stay in touch these days!"
After a bit more small talk, Wu Jing and Xie Nan got into a taxi to head back to their hotel.
With everything resolved so perfectly, the tense lines on Wu Jing’s brow finally eased.
The funding issue was resolved, at least for now. He wouldn’t have to mortgage his house anymore. To Huaxia People, there was nothing more important than one’s ho.
Once he was back in the Capital City, he could imdiately start building the crew.
Xie Nan was also genuinely happy for her husband. "Senior Brother," she said, "I didn’t expect this trip to bring such a wonderful surprise."
Wu Jing knew what she was talking about. The previous night, after they returned to the hotel, he had asked around with so friends and did so online searches. He’d discovered that Wu Yun was the legal representative of several companies, most with a registered capital of over ten million.
And Wu Yun was only eighteen years old—still a student.
Wu Jing stroked Xie Nan’s hair. "You’re right. The investnt for *Wolf Warrior 2* won’t be small, that’s for sure. Wu Yun is destined to beco a major figure in this country. All we need to do is stay on good terms with him. If he needs anything or asks for help, we do our best to give it. I’m sure it will be rewarding in the long run."
"From what I saw last night, he’s also a man who values his relationships. To be willing to spend so much just to set up a company for his girlfriend... It’s admirable just thinking about it!"
Xie Nan sat up from Wu Jing’s embrace and turned to him. "Senior Brother, if it were you, would you be willing to do that much for ?"
Wu Jing froze for a second, then chuckled and said playfully, "You little spendthrift. If we weren’t married, I definitely wouldn’t invest that much. Of course, if that investnt was just a small fraction of my net worth, I’d be willing."
"But, given our situation now, I am one hundred percent willing to give everything I have for you!"
"You little spendthrift, always asking these tricky questions all day. Good thing I’m skilled in both brains and brawn, so nothing you throw at is too difficult!"
The sounds of their playful banter and laughter drifted out of the taxi. The vehicle even began to rock back and forth, drawing curious glances from the other drivers waiting at the red light.
