Stepping into the banquet hall, Tang Li’s eyes were t with a vision of gleaming splendor; waiters in cheongsam bustled between the large, round tables, and the tableware was all made of fine bone china, luxurious and precious under the light’s reflection.

Lai Wenyan and his group arrived quite early, and there weren’t many guests present yet.

Lai Yuaner flew over to her friends like a little bird, while Lai Wenyan and his wife were busy socializing. Whether it was intentional or not, Tang Li, standing to the side, seed entirely out of place here.

Afterward, Tang Li went to the restroom.

Coming out of the restroom, she did not imdiately return to the banquet hall. Unaccustod to wearing high heels, she simply sat down in the relaxation area and freed her feet from the shoes.

With no one around, Tang Li placed her fair feet on the carpet.

She took out her cellphone to check the ti.

The state banquet started at 7 p.m., still forty minutes away.

She hadn’t told Song Baiyan about attending the state banquet, hoping to create a "surprise."

Now, holding her cellphone, she felt like sending him a ssage.

Thinking of her appearance tonight, Tang Li looked at the glass beside her. Seeing herself in it, she also spotted another person in the reflection. He stood not far away, one hand in his pocket, a tall and straight posture, his black eyes fixed on her.

The chandelier’s light scattered upon the glass, creating a softened halo of colors, much like the man’s eyes—devoid of aggression but still inescapable.

Tang Li t his gaze, her mind montarily blank, the urge to send a ssage vanished as if doused by a pot of cold water, the chill making her grip her cellphone tightly.

She quickly averted her eyes, pretending to look at her cellphone.

Staring at the cellphone screen, her heart wouldn’t settle.

So people, after all the twists and turns, will eventually et again.

Tang Li didn’t expect to run into Han Jifeng at the state banquet, and in such an unavoidable manner, maybe she had been too content lately, so the heavens decided it was ti for so trouble.

Just then, a server approached.

It was Ouyang Qian sending soone to find her.

Tang Li put her shoes back on and stood up to follow the server back to the banquet hall.

She didn’t look at the glass on the wall again, but she had to pass by Han Jifeng to get back to the banquet hall. Tang Li didn’t show any reaction, walking past him without even a sideways glance, as if they truly didn’t know each other.

Until she walked far away, Han Jifeng didn’t call out to stop her.

Perhaps this was for the best.

From the day she decided not to take drastic actions, becoming strangers was the best outco.

Back in the banquet hall, Tang Li’s emotions had stabilized, not thinking about Han Jifeng anymore, nor recalling her past life.

In the banquet hall, guests were arriving one after another.

This state banquet’s invitation list included the President, governnt officials, political figures, and celebrities from all fields. Journalists were not among them, still, there were nearly five thousand guests.

Tang Li saw Lai Wenyan and his wife surrounded by people in conversation but didn’t walk over, instead heading straight for a corner to sit down.

The banquet hall was not particularly noisy.

Even the conversations among guests were rather restrained.

Lai Yuaner glimpsed the corner with a sidelong look and asked her friend, "Has Ling Zixi arrived?"

"He’s right there," her friend pointed to a nearby place.

A few young n were horsing around; seeing Lai Yuaner approaching, they all said, "Yo, isn’t this our big star?"

Lai Yuaner rolled her eyes, even more playful, and turned towards the one called Ling Zixi, "Co with , I need to talk to you."
