"Are you okay?!" A shout ca from the opposite side.

Lai Yuaner’s chiffon dress was soaked at the neckline, her bangs drooped wetly on her forehead, eyelashes heavy with water droplets, and her face sared, looking as disheveled as one could get.

She raised her hand to wipe the water off her face, finally seeing the situation across the way.

The family from behind was washing their car by the roadside.

A middle-aged man, wearing flip-flops and holding a water gun, donned what was standard attire for soone his age - large shorts; as for the undershirt, it could no longer contain his big belly, emanating a greasy aura all over.

Thinking that Song Baiyan had already left, Lai Yuaner, eyes red with anger, grabbed a small potted plant at her feet and hurled it over.

The coarse pottery shattered into pieces beside the car.

"Why are you so unreasonable, young lady?!"

The man nearly got hit by the potted plant and was sowhat heated as well.

"I’m being unreasonable?" Lai Yuaner sneered with anger, "Don’t think I don’t know what you’re up to; you’re just a driver skimping on thirty bucks for a car wash, pretending to be a boss hitting on young girls. Why don’t you turn the mirror on yourself!"

Man: "..."

Tang Li went upstairs, ready to take a shower when the door was knocked.

The knocking sounded sowhat hurried.

It was Mother Wu.

Seeing Tang Li holding clothes for changing, Mother Wu covered her mouth with her hand and whispered, "Miss Yuaner is arguing with Judge Gong at the back door."

"Judge Gong?" Tang Li didn’t know who this was.

Mother Wu had worked at the Lai family’s for so ti and had figured out the surrounding neighborhood relations.

"It’s the new neighbor who moved in; the villa that President Li, who lived behind, sold; yesterday, their aunt ca to greet, saying that the couple are a judge from the high court and a leader from the bureau of comrce."

Although Lai Yuaner usually had plenty of arrogance, managing to clash with neighbors her parents’ age did refresh Tang Li’s view of her.

"Before I ca upstairs, I heard Miss Yuaner attacking Judge Gong’s hair volu." Mother Wu added.

Tang Li asked, "Does she know the other person is a judge?"

"Judging by looks, no."

Tang Li: "..."

So, Lai Yuaner is the real brave one.

Mother Wu was about to say more when a noise ca from the staircase, fearing running into Lai Yuaner, she promptly walked back down at the other end of the hallway.

Lai Yuaner ca up to the second floor and spotted Tang Li.

Their eyes t for a mont, discovering Tang Li about to close the door to return to her room.

This attitude was filled with contempt.

Lai Yuaner felt her dignity was being challenged, especially in her own disheveled state. Rembering the scenes in the restaurant, she couldn’t help but speak out: "If Your Excellency knew about your relationship with Han Jifeng, I don’t believe he would still want to marry you!"

Tang Li paused and looked at her, with a bit of amusent—

"Why don’t you tell what kind of shady relationship I have with Han Jifeng?"

Lai Yuaner opened her mouth but was cut off by Tang Li: "In college, it was your sister Lai Shengxia who dated Han Jifeng; during the winter and sumr holidays, it was you who frequently asked Han Jifeng for tutoring. It seems none of this has anything to do with ."

"..." Lai Yuaner.

Tang Li’s affection for Han Jifeng was sothing Lai Yuaner unconsciously noticed.

In reality, Tang Li hadn’t acted out of bounds in any way.

Lai Yuaner couldn’t recall how she returned to her room; sitting at the dressing table, all she could think about was Song Baiyan’s affectionate gaze towards Tang Li.

Why Tang Li?

Why was Song Baiyan interested in this illegitimate daughter?

Tang Li was simply unworthy of becoming the First Lady.

Because Lai Wenyan got poisoned by fake alcohol, Lai Yuaner didn’t eat much for dinner.

When the maid brought supper, Lai Yuaner recognized the lady as Aunt Wu hired by her mother and was advised to eat while it was hot, as she didn’t touch the supper.

"I don’t understand." Lai Yuaner held a spoon as if caught in a dead end, murmuring to herself: "I just don’t understand why Your Excellency would like Tang Li, no family background, no education, nothing from head to toe."

"That’s not exactly the case."

Upon hearing this, Lai Yuaner turned her head to look at the aunt nearby.

With her hands wrapped in an apron, Mother Wu spoke disapprovingly: "Miss Tang has a face."

Lai Yuaner: "..."

"With Miss Tang’s looks, she could participate in the Pingxiang Flower Pageant if she were back in our hotown." Aunt Wu continued, "Winning the championship would be a sure thing."

Lai Yuaner didn’t care at all whether Tang Li could be the town beauty or not.

However, what Aunt Wu said – ’a good face’ – deeply wounded her.

She couldn’t believe His Excellency was such a shallow person.

Living high above and so capable, how could His Excellency possibly be seduced by beauty?

Tan Palace.

Song Jingtian had changed into pajamas with a cartoon Corgi design, matching well with the Tiger Whip sprawled at the foot of the bed; as for his feet, they wore pink long-eared cotton slippers.

The bedroom door had long been locked.

With his hands behind his back, he paced back and forth on the carpet in front of the bed.

Whenever the slippers touched the ground, the sole would et a patch of softness.

Although tough guys shouldn’t like pink, he still couldn’t control himself!

A ssage alert sounded from the tablet on the bed.

Picking it up, Song Jingtian saw that it was a ssage from Tang Li’s sister. This ti, instead of cursing him, she just asked what exactly his brother liked about Tang Li.

Lai Yuaner’s ssaging to Song Jingtian was rely seeking a definite answer.

If His Excellency was with Tang Li, either deceived by her, or perhaps holding so leverage over her, he had to play along with her.

At this mont, Lai Yuaner’s sudden enlightennt dawned.

Actually, she should have realized this sooner.

Otherwise, why would His Excellency, usually discreet, hold Tang Li in public places?

They were unaware of His Excellency’s predicant.

If His Excellency was indeed coerced by Tang Li, she would never allow Tang Li to succeed in the end!

Just as she clutched the cellphone tightly, the dark screen lit up again.

Lai Yuaner quickly opened WeChat, finding a new ssage in the chat box: "Of course, it’s Tang Li’s unmatched beauty."

"......"

Tang Li wasn’t aware of what Lai Yuaner was doing in her room as she ca down the next morning to see Jiang Yuan already waiting for her in the living room: "The councilman has to stay in the hospital for two more days, but he has important matters to discuss with Miss, so he sent to pick you up."

Lai Wenyan’s important matters definitely involved a billion.
