??Chapter 127: Chapter 124: What Have I Raised?

Chapter 127: Chapter 124: What Have I Raised?

On the other side, after Song Jiawen left, Yu Heng recounted everything he had just learned to Mu Chenyan.

“What did you say? Yu Xin, she… Xiaosi…”

When Mu Chenyan thought of three-year-old Xiaosi, who had been sound asleep but was then taken outside and abandoned, ending up lying in an alley with a bloody head… her heart clenched in agony, the pain left her breathless!

She had always wondered why. Xiaosi was only three years old but she was smart and always obedient; she definitely wouldn’t wander off on her own without an adult.

How could she have disappeared without a reason?

No matter how much she thought about it, she could never have imagined soone had intentionally taken her out and thrown her away.

And that soone was just a nine-year-old girl.

“Where is she? Where is she now?”

Mu Chenyan ground her teeth, what kind of creature had their family been raising all these years?

Yu Xin’s attempted suicide the night before was like a farce. Aside from their father, Yu Zekun, who was constantly worried and by her side, not a single other mber of the Yu Family had gone to see her.

Including her own parents.

So today, the second brother thought everything was fine and let their dad take her ho.

Ho?

After Xiaosi was lost, what kind of mindset did she have while staying at their place?

Just thinking about it made Yu Heng shiver, feeling an innate revulsion.

Mother and son took a taxi back to Yulong District. Their family had bought a villa there years ago, and after returning to the country last year, they renovated and settled in; the family mainly lived there now.

Usually, only Yu Zekun and Yu Xin were at ho; Mu Chenyan was busy searching for Xiaosi all over the country, and Yu Heng along with the second brother Yu Feng had their own apartnts near their workplaces, hardly ever at ho. The third brother Yu Ci was still overseas and had not co back.

Upon getting into the car, Mu Chenyan instructed Yu Heng, “Call your second uncle and aunt, tell them to co now.”

Yu Heng pulled out his phone, scrolled through his contacts, and called a na. The phone rang five tis before it was picked up—

“Hello, Heng, your second uncle has a social engagent tonight, you guys take care of Xin for , okay?”

Yu Zexiao thought Yu Heng’s call was about Yu Xin’s depressive suicide attempt, and from his words, it was clear that as a father, he was not the slightest bit worried.

It made sense; they had never really raised her, so familial affection was weak. But despite everything, she was still their own flesh and blood, wasn’t she?

Mu Chenyan snatched the phone from Yu Heng’s hand, her voice stern, “Yu Zexiao, I don’t care what you’re doing right now, bring your wife to my place imdiately, and if I don’t see you within half an hour, you know the consequences.”

“… Big sister, I… beep beep beep…”

After hanging up the phone, Mu Chenyan leaned back in her seat, eyes closed in exhaustion.

Actually, the journey from Beijing University to their villa in Yulong District took at least forty minutes, but Mu Chenyan insisted that Yu Zexiao and his wife arrive before them.

How could she ever repeat such a heart-wrenching demand?

The mont she arrived ho, she was certain she couldn’t hold back her outburst.

Forty minutes later, Mu Chenyan and Yu Heng stood at the gate of the villa.

The two pushed open the low wrought iron gate, with Yu Heng also pulling Mu Chenyan’s suitcase.

“… Reeking of alcohol, where did you go drinking again? You’re over forty years old, and not doing anything proper with your days… Yu Zexiao, I’m talking to you.”

“Big brother, why do you get more naggy as you age? You sound like a housekeeper.”

“You… fine, fine, fine, I can’t manage this, I won’t manage it anymore, wait until your elder sister cos back, I want to see how you explain it to her.”

Upon ntioning his elder sister, Yu Zexiao seed to calm down a bit, but within a short while he complained again, “She had a good life, why did she try to kill herself? Is she crazy or what?”

A lazy female voice chid in from beside him, “Depression is a ntal illness, isn’t it?”

“Don’t talk nonsense, ntal illness is ntal illness, and depression is just when soone can’t see things through clearly and loses control, it’s not the sa thing.”

“How is it not the sa thing…”

“Shut up! Both of you, do you still rember that Yu Xin is your daughter?”

Finally, the living room went quiet.

Mu Chenyan and Yu Heng stood at the entrance, their faces cold and stern, like the calm before a storm.

Yu Heng was the first to push open the barely closed front door and step over the threshold.

As he walked in, stirring up noise, everyone sitting in the living room turned their heads in unison.

“Big brother, mom.”

Yu Feng, the second child, stood up from his slouched position on the sofa. Seeing the weary look on Mu Chenyan’s face, as if she had just co off a plane, he frowned slightly and asked, “Mom, did you just get off the flight? Have you not eaten yet? There is sliced fish porridge on the stove, I’ll go serve so for you.”

“Yes, yes, yes, second brother, go serve your mom so. Yu Xin hardly ate anything today, I made her sliced fish porridge in the evening…”

“No need!”

Before Yu Zekun could finish, Mu Chenyan interrupted him, then instructed Yu Feng, “You go upstairs and call Yu Xin down.”

Although Yu Feng didn’t understand what had happened, seeing the expressions on his mother and elder brother’s faces, he didn’t ask any questions and turned to head upstairs.

Yu Zexiao stood up and smiled obsequiously at Mu Chenyan, “Elder sister-in-law, please take a seat. It must have been tiring coming all the way back. Why bother with her? No worries, she’s really fine. It’s just a way to throw a tantrum, looking for extra attention. It’s a trick she’s used to pulling; she and her mother are used to it, and if you ignore her, she won’t do it again. It’s all because my big brother spoiled her.”

Mu Chenyan turned her head and looked at Yu Zekun with a deep gaze, murmuring, “Yeah, your big brother spoiled her, your big brother really dotes on Yu Xin, even making her sliced fish porridge, how diligent…”

Yu Zekun felt uneasy under Mu Chenyan’s stare, thinking she was still blaming him for letting Yu Xin stay at ho because of Xiaosi, but keeping her at ho had already happened, and it was more than a decade ago. Why was she still holding onto it? It was aningless, wasn’t it?

He had raised the child from a young age too; how could she be so heartless?

“Big brother…”

Yu Xin followed Yu Feng downstairs, her eyes lighting up when she saw Yu Heng, and her steps quickened compared to before.

But before she could get close to Yu Heng, she suddenly noticed a sharp gaze shooting at her from the side.

Yu Xin turned her head and realized that Mu Chenyan had returned at so point.

She usually ignored her, but why today…

“Aunt, you’ve returned.”

Mu Chenyan fought the urge to grab the ashtray from the coffee table in front of her and throw it, and asked, “Yu Xin, I’m asking you, fourteen years ago, was it you who, while Xiaosi was asleep, picked her up and threw her outside?”

Boom! Like a bombshell, this statent left everyone in the living room stunned, temporarily unable to grasp the aning behind Mu Chenyan’s words.

Only Yu Xin’s face turned deathly pale instantly, and after her body shook for a mont, her feet involuntarily stepped back.

Her reaction said it all!

Mu Chenyan, with eyes that wished she could flay Yu Xin alive, said, “I took care of you with good intentions, raising you, and this is how you repay ? Xiaosi was only three years old at the ti. What could she have possibly done to you that made you commit such a wicked act…”

With that, Mu Chenyan could no longer hold back, she grabbed the ashtray in front of her and hurled it fiercely…
