Si Yuhuan coldly observed the changes in Jian Xi’s face across from him, his heart aching slightly.
It was ti she felt what it was like every ti she used the word "ex-husband" to wound him.
Jian Xi hadn’t expected it. She had thought she was over him, but when those two words surfaced, it truly damn hurt.
The man she had loved was indeed different.
"Si Yuhuan, please, could you give the child? Let’s deal with our grievances ourselves. Mingming is still so young, and his health isn’t good. You’re ruthless, but you wouldn’t harm a little baby, would you?"
Jian Xi’s tone softened, sounding quite pitiful.
Si Yuhuan arched an eyebrow, emotions surging in his eyes. "I can let you see the child right now, but on two conditions."
"Fine. Don’t just say two; I’d agree to twenty."
Looking at the woman before him, no longer haughty, Si Yuhuan felt an overwhelming pang of pity.
His original intention wasn’t to be so despicable, but her temperant was too stubborn.
He didn’t know how he had offended her; no matter what he said, she refused to believe him.
It was rather unscrupulous, but if it ant he could keep her, then it was fine.
"First, you are not allowed to contact Fu Shengyuan."
Jian Xi hesitated. After careful consideration, Si Yuhuan had already helped imnsely by freezing Fu Wenxin’s accounts and properties. Not contacting Fu Shengyuan wouldn’t be an issue.
"Second, you are not allowed to marry Zhang Yaxuan."
Jian Xi flared up. "He’s the father of my child!"
"He doesn’t deserve to be." The ntion of that good-for-nothing infuriated Si Yuhuan. He had seen clearly at dinner that day: Zhang Yaxuan didn’t care about Jian Xi, not even showing the consideration Fu Shengyuan did.
Moreover, Zhang Yaxuan was always imrsed in art exhibitions and neglected the child. Si Yuhuan couldn’t trust leaving Jian Xi in the hands of such a worthless man.
"Aside from , no one is genuinely sincere towards you."
You really overestimate yourself, Jian Xi wanted to retort.
For her son’s sake, she held back.
"Alright, I can agree to that too."
Si Yuhuan imdiately stepped forward, cupped her face, and kissed her. "You’ll move in today."
Jian Xi suppressed the rage in her heart, her fists clenched tightly. "Then let see my child first."
Si Yuhuan, whose hand was enveloping Jian Xi’s, paused, his gaze frosty. Jian Xi kept her eyes on his, so she didn’t miss the flicker of darkness that crossed them.
She really is using without any pretense, he thought.
"Jian Xi, if you had only treated a bit better, the child might have been in your hands long ago."
Jian Xi felt as if her heart was being pierced by a million steel needles. She wasn’t sure if it was anger or frustration, but the pain made it hard to breathe.
How dare he say that! she fud internally.
"Mm, it’s all my fault. I’ve learned my lesson. It won’t happen again."
Her words had barely left her lips.
Jian Xi’s waist was suddenly cinched tight; Si Yuhuan lifted her chin and kissed her.
His kiss was fierce and urgent, and Jian Xi could barely resist. He pressed her against the office desk, grasped her waist, lifted her onto it, and kissed her again, as if he wished to devour her whole.
He kissed her earlobe, biting it gently, sending a shiver down Jian Xi’s spine.
That was her sensitive spot, and Si Yuhuan had found it with precision.
Feeling her response, his hand moved towards her chest.
Jian Xi grabbed his hand, her rationality returning. "Stop..."
"Alright."
He didn’t continue, instead pulling away from her.
Even so, it had been enough to sate his desire.
"Si Yuhuan, I’ve agreed to everything you said. Can I see my son now?"
Si Yuhuan took out his phone and called Xinxin. "Bring the child to the hospital. I’m heading there now."
Over the phone, Xinxin complained, "You only call when you want to see the child. Do I even exist in your eyes?"
Xinxin sounded as plaintive as a neglected wife confined to her chambers.
Jian Xi saw in Xinxin a reflection of her forr self.
In her past life, Si Yuhuan had flirted around endlessly. When he called her back then, she too had reacted this way, wishing he would stay by her side constantly. Now, he was right beside her, yet all she wanted was to escape.
"You have half an hour."
With that, Si Yuhuan hung up.
"Director Si is truly fickle and ungrateful. Seducing soone and then ignoring them—just like he always was."
Jian Xi’s lips curled in a sneer. Si Yuhuan’s expression remained unchanged.
"She was never going to be a woman I’d like. If it weren’t for Mingming, I’d find even a single glance at her defiling."
Jian Xi had no doubt about this.
Si Yuhuan had an extre obsession with cleanliness; he didn’t allow anyone to touch his things.
Especially won.
Xinxin was too sullied; Jian Xi wasn’t worried at all that Si Yuhuan would take a fancy to her.
Unless... he was truly desperate, Jian Xi mused.
"Let’s go."
Si Yuhuan wiped her lips.
Jian Xi’s face instantly flushed crimson.
He was in a good mood, a smirk playing on his lips.
He was sowhat obsessed with the taste he’d just experienced.
If he got the chance, he would savor that taste again.
Jian Xi could see the desire clouding his eyes.
"Let’s hurry."
She didn’t want to waste another second.
「Later」
Xinxin stared at the disconnected call, her gaze gradually turning cold.
"Si Yuhuan, you really don’t take seriously, do you!"
Xinxin’s resentful eyes looked as if tears might spill over at any mont.
Pouting, Xinxin instructed the henchman standing outside, "Go, take that little brat to the nearby hospital. Rember to assign more n to follow them. If anything... unexpected happens..."
A fierce glint flashed in her eyes.
"Understood."
Her subordinate had barely left when he rushed back in, panicking. "Sister Xin, sothing terrible has happened! It’s awful!"
Mingming was missing!
"What about Jian Sirun? He’s a grown man; he couldn’t have vanished into thin air too, could he?"
Xinxin exploded.
How was she going to explain this to Si Yuhuan!
If she told him the child was missing, he would skin her alive!
"The surveillance feeds were hacked. The perpetrators were decisive, precise, and ruthless. They must be experts who understand the Secret Gate’s thods and are intimately familiar with our entire operational procedure. I suspect they abducted the child precisely during the shift change. Could there be a mole among us?"
Xinxin cald down. With hands on her hips, her pretty face turned icy. "Damn it! Causing trouble right under my very nose! It seems my adoptive father, that old man, is truly courting death."
The henchman’s eyes widened. "Are you saying...?"
Who else could it be but him! Xinxin fud.
Xinxin pressed her forehead. "Send people to search imdiately! I want him found, dead or alive."
"Bad news, Sister Xin! Dr. Huang is missing too!"
Xinxin was shocked. "She’s missing too?"
Adoptive Father had his sights on her for a long ti; he was just waiting for the right mont to strike!
Chaos erupted within the Secret Gate. Xinxin paced frantically. What on earth was she going to do?!
「At the Hospital」
Si Yuhuan rushed Jian Xi to the hospital, and she imdiately ran inside.
Xinxin was already waiting in the VIP room.
Seeing Jian Xi, Xinxin curved her lips into a smile. "Miss Jian, long ti no see..."
Jian Xi walked right past her and into the room.
"Fourth Brother?"
She entered the room, and the sight of the empty hospital bed sent a chill through her heart.
"Xinxin, where is my son? And my Fourth Brother? Where has everyone gone?"
Jian Xi, extrely agitated, grabbed Xinxin’s collar and demanded, her eyes red with fury, almost wishing she could tear the woman before her to pieces.
