"Huang Ying, notify the mont you have any news!"
After hanging up, Jian Xi’s mind raced, searching for ways to find her elder brother and Si Yuhuan.
Should I go there myself? The thought had barely crossed her mind when Wan Yu stopped her.
If not for company matters, she would have flown over imdiately to restrain Jian Xi.
"If you leave, what will Jian Group do if Fu Wenxin causes trouble? Yang Jinyu was only slightly swayed because of you. If you leave, all your previous efforts will be wasted."
"You have a point."
At this critical juncture, Jian Xi knew she shouldn’t act rashly.
"If anyone should go, it should be ."
Wan Yu bit her lip. "No organization or person would likely pay much attention to . I’m the most suitable one to go."
"Yu Yu..." Jian Xi wanted to stop her.
So much had happened over the past year. She had involved too many people and didn’t want Wan Yu to fall into danger as well.
"Don’t get sentintal with ! Are we best friends or not?"
"Yes!" Jian Xi replied.
"If I were in trouble today, would you rush to my aid without hesitation?"
"I would..." Jian Xi wanted to say more, but Wan Yu interrupted her.
"That settles it then. The decision is made; I’ll fly to W Country imdiately!"
After the call, Jian Xi summoned Wang Hao right away.
"Miss Jian, what can I do for you?"
"Wang Hao, I might need you to leave China for a few days to help protect Wan Yu. She..."
Her phone suddenly rang.
Seeing it was Si Yuhuan’s number, Jian Xi answered, her voice tight with emotion.
"You’re calling ?"
His voice sounded sowhat weary.
All her excitent vanished upon hearing he was safe and sound. "Don’t you realize you’ve been missing for several days?"
A rustling sound ca from the other end, probably Si Yuhuan checking the date. "Sorry, it’s actually been five days!"
"This ti, to ensure the Salsi Group bidding process was open, just, and fair, they blocked all external communications. We..."
"It’s good you’re safe." Jian Xi pressed her lips together, her anxious heart finally settling.
Si Yuhuan asked, "Are you concerned about ?"
"I’m concerned about the case," Jian Xi said, deflating his good mood. "Don’t be so narcissistic. Just tell the result. I don’t care what happened over there."
Si Yuhuan’s handso face darkened. He fought the urge to hang up.
"Everything went smoothly, but Tianyao Group has also entered the final bidding round. The winner will be decided tomorrow."
Still no result! What ga is Salsi playing?
Jian Xi frowned. "So, what are your chances?"
If Salsi Group’s takeover plan failed, Haohan Group would suffer another blow. Even with Jian Group’s support, they might fall to third-tier status. At that point, he would completely lose his standing in Beijing. It probably wouldn’t be long before no one even rembered who Si Yuhuan was.
"I’m not quite certain."
Si Yuhuan found it sowhat difficult to say.
This was the first ti Jian Xi had seen him so troubled over business, and her recently cald heart leaped into her throat again.
It seems Tianyao Group is likely to win. Could Si Yuhuan lose? If he truly lost, what would happen?
"Jian Xi, while searching for your son, I’ve barely managed my company for nearly two months and have been through life-and-death situations. Tell , if I really beco penniless, will you take care of as I’ve taken care of you?"
Jian Xi raised an eyebrow. "Remarry you?"
Si Yuhuan’s voice lightened. "That’s an option!"
"Then I’ll find a few boy toys, create scandals with different n daily, stir up a hornet’s nest of ssy affairs, and ideally, have a handso confidant hanging around all day..."
Listening to her fantasies, Si Yuhuan’s expression turned extrely ugly.
She was indirectly insulting him!
"You dare!" he ground out through clenched teeth.
Jian Xi scoffed coldly. "Why wouldn’t I dare? If you could do it, why can’t I? Besides, a centipede doesn’t stiffen even in death. Stop trying to fool !"
She dictatorially hung up the phone.
She stared blankly at her phone for a long mont.
Would Si Yuhuan beco penniless again? Then she... She’d probably help him, right? Forget it! This wasn’t the ti to think about this.
She called Wan Yu and told her she didn’t need to go.
Wan Yu sent an emoji of wide eyes with a single bead of sweat.
Jian Xi covered her mouth, stifling a giggle.
Wan Yu: This guy is definitely testing you.
Jian Xi: Hmm?
Wan Yu: According to the psychology Huang Ying taught, he’s playing hard to get. First, he disappears for a few days to make you anxious. Then, he tells you he’s fine, maybe hints he’s in so difficulty to make you worry. After all that, wouldn’t your heart soften and you’d take him back?
That made sense!
Jian Xi was just shy of sending a thumbs-up emoji.
Jian Xi: Don’t worry. Having been fooled countless tis, I won’t fall for it again.
Wan Yu: Hehe!
It seed she still didn’t have much credibility with Wan Yu. She swore that this ti she would be ruthless—use him and then bolt.
Si Yuhuan called her.
Jian Xi hung up.
He called again.
She hung up again.
Si Yuhuan: Do you want news about your son?
Jian Xi shalessly called back imdiately.
"What news? Tell quick!"
She had waited several days without any useful information. Now, just when he had signal again...
"Tomorrow afternoon at three, pick up from ho personally, and I’ll consider telling you."
"Si Yuhuan, you scoundrel!" Jian Xi exploded with rage.
Si Yuhuan hung up.
He’s got ! That must be it! This petty man, always ensuring he doesn’t lose out!
Jian Xi gritted her teeth. "Pick you up? My foot!"
「The next day, early in the morning.」
Jian Xi got herself ready early and waited at the tarmac where the private plane would land.
She watched the ti, almost counting the seconds as they ticked by.
During this ti, Secretary Lin called to report that the plan was proceeding smoothly. Fu Wenxin had already started causing trouble for Yang Jinyu, pressing him to sign the contract, which led to a major argunt and an embarrassing scene.
This good news sowhat soothed Jian Xi’s agitation.
Secretary Lin also inford her that her elder brother was very busy and would likely remain abroad for so ti. Dostic matters were thus left for her to handle.
"’It’s a good thing Elder Brother isn’t here! Otherwise, I’d be utterly humiliated today!’" Jian Xi muttered.
"Miss, what did you say?" Secretary Lin asked.
"’Nothing. Keep a close eye on Yang Jinyu. Success or failure hinges on this. I’ll be at the company later,’" Jian Xi replied.
Secretary Lin was now thoroughly impressed by Jian Xi and readily complied. "Alright."
At that mont, a roaring sound filled the sky.
From afar, Jian Xi saw the private plane grow larger as it approached. Through its window, she could vaguely make out Si Yuhuan’s handso face.
She quickly had the servants raise the banner.
The banner bore the large words "Welco Ho!"
She glanced back at the large characters. Definitely flashy enough, and it showed enough "sincerity," right? For her son’s whereabouts, she was swallowing her pride!
From his vantage point, Si Yuhuan looked down at the small woman on the tarmac and the banner behind her...
