Perhaps life is just like this, always giving you unexpected twists when you think everything is calm and quiet.
Leaving you helpless, leaving you conflicted.
Maybe after it’s over, the sky will be clear again; it all depends on how you handle it.
After leaving Li Si’s house, Leng Ning returned ho. Mrs. Leng knew she was back from her son’s house, but didn’t ask much.
"Back already! Have you eaten?"
"I ate with my sister-in-law!"
Leng Ning instinctively avoided her mother’s gaze, fearing she might accidentally reveal sothing and end up being interrogated for the truth, which would be disastrous.
She knew that Yin Xian had feelings for Li Si, but if her mother knew, as a mother-in-law, she would certainly have doubts and reservations.
Originally, she already had a prejudice against Li Si, and adding this matter, there might be conflicts in the future!
Mrs. Leng asked again, "Hmm, has your brother called? That boy really forgot about his mom after getting married, not even bothering to call regularly to check in!"
She complained discontentedly, saying Mo Chen, since going abroad, only called her once, and there hadn’t been any news lately.
If she wanted to know sothing, she had to hear it through her daughter-in-law, which made her very uncomfortable.
"My brother’s busy! He’ll be back in a few days! What’s the point of calling?"
Sotis Leng Ning really couldn’t understand her mother’s thoughts. Does calling often an her brother is filial?
She already knew her brother’s character. Is he soone who would call and talk about trivialities often?
Even with his wife, she observed it was just the occasional conversation.
Mrs. Leng angrily pointed at Leng Ning, "You young people just don’t understand us elders. No matter how busy, how long does it take to make a call? Don’t you even have a few minutes?"
Seeing her mom about to start a long speech, Leng Ning decisively made her exit.
"Uh, Mom, I’m tired. I’ll head upstairs first! You should rest early too!"
"You child! If you don’t want to listen, just say so. What excuse are you making! It’s so early, why go to bed?" Although Mrs. Leng watched Leng Ning’s back as she went upstairs and complained twice, she didn’t have the heart to bla her child.
Perhaps this is a mother’s heart; saying harsh words but feeling tender inside.
Returning to her room, Leng Ning let out a breath and suddenly recalled so past events.
Once so things are known, once that gap is opened, it’s like opening a floodgate.
She knew her sister-in-law had saved Yin Qi’s son back then, which is how she got acquainted with their group of people.
So it was understandable for Yin Xian to be fond of her sister-in-law.
The subsequent developnts were sowhat unexpected; Yin Xian married Ye Duowei.
And Ye Duowei was related by blood to her sister-in-law. If things hadn’t been so strained later, wouldn’t Yin Xian have been her sister-in-law’s brother-in-law?
And now, might Yin Xian beco her sister-in-law’s brother-in-law? Her own brother-in-law?
This Yin Xian is also Yin Xuan’s brother! She really didn’t want to beco relatives with Yin Xuan.
Yet today, seeing Leng Mo’s attitude...
Thinking about the complicated relations, Leng Ning felt a headache coming on.
...
The man who might beco her brother-in-law was currently in a VIP hospital room.
Yin Xian previously believed Ye Duowei saying her mother was ill was just a minor ailnt.
But when he forcibly dragged Ye Duowei out of that dumpling shop, she cried out, and he learned her mother had late-stage cancer.
No matter what happened before, this was once his mother-in-law.
Even if he didn’t want to co and see, watching Ye Duowei cry so heartbreakingly softened his heart.
However, thinking of Leng Mo and Li Si’s sister-in-law, Leng Ning, made his head spin.
The words Ye Duowei shouted in impulse before were undoubtedly heard by those two.
He didn’t want to concern himself with how Leng Mo felt for now, but primarily Leng Ning. Would she go back and tell Li Si about this?
Moreover, what if this caused trouble and inconvenience for Li Si?
Following in Ye Duowei’s footsteps towards the hospital room, these questions swirled in his mind.
He really never expected a day like this would co so soon.
His original intention was not to make things difficult for Li Si, but in the end, he inadvertently caused her trouble.
However, upon reconsideration, he felt relieved.
Before eting Leng Mo from the Leng family, he had thought through all the causes and consequences.
Though the path ahead was tough, it was the best shortcut for him at the mont.
"Yin Xian is here?"
The weak voice of Tian Yaru, dressed in a striped hospital gown, interrupted Yin Xian’s chaotic thoughts.
Politely and courteously, he stepped forward and greeted her, "Auntie, I heard from Ye Duowei that you’re ill, so I ca to see you!"
He didn’t call her "Mom" because he had already ntally drawn a line with them.
Seeing the weary and sickly face of Tian Yaru, his emotions were actually really complicated.
A flicker of excitent crossed Tian Yaru’s eyes. Seeing her daughter’s red-rimd eyes, it was clear they’d been crying, and the much more handso and dignified Yin Xian coming to see her was truly a delightful surprise for her.
She wondered if the two of them could remarry, thinking it would be wonderful if they could. Then she could rest in peace even if she died.
She eagerly beckoned him, "Co, sit down, sit down! Weiwei, don’t just stand there, hurry and cut so fruit for Yin Xian!"
"No need! I just ca to take a look and then I’ll leave! I have a eting later!" Yin Xian waved his hand, distancing himself. Of course, he could see Tian Yaru’s fleeting thought.
But, there was no chance between him and Ye Duowei in this lifeti!
"At least have so fruit before you go! Yin Xian, I know you’re busy! Thank you for coming to see . Oh, it’s nothing! The doctor said as long as I cooperate with the treatnt, I can recover!"
Ye Duowei, fumbling, went to the cabinet at the head of the bed for a fruit knife and picked out a large red apple from the basket above, starting to peel it seriously.
But she was intently listening to their conversation, frequently glancing over at Yin Xian.
Seeing Yin Xian nod, Tian Yaru continued with reddening eyes, "Yin Xian, your parents are well, yes? I regret it, how unreasonable I was back then. Having no magnanimity or tolerance.
If not, maybe you and Weiwei wouldn’t have ended up like this.
I have no other thoughts, just thinking if the two of you could possibly..."
Yin Xian abruptly stood up, rudely interrupting her intended words, "Auntie! Don’t misunderstand! I only ca to just see you since Ye Duowei and I were once married.
But, please, say nothing more." Saying this, he raised his wrist to check the ti, "I’m sorry, but I have a eting at the company; I’ll take my leave!"
With that, ignoring the reaction of the mother and daughter in the hospital room, he walked briskly to the door and left.
He really regretted his mont of softness; even if Ye Duowei cried herself to death, he shouldn’t have co today.
No matter how Tian Yaru was before, she’s now a seriously ill patient—why give her hope only to inevitably disappoint her again?
