When she found out that Leng Ning was indeed at her son’s house, she hung up the phone, let out a sigh of relief, and then started to feel angry again.

This child is so thoughtless. Since she went to her brother’s house, she could’ve at least called to let us know she was safe.

Not a single word, as if she’s trying to make us worry ourselves sick!

Leng Qiankai saw that she was truly upset and quickly tried to console her, "Xiao Yan, don’t be angry with the child! Tomorrow morning, we’ll go to Mochen’s place and hear what Xiao Ning has to say. If it’s really Jin Yichen’s fault, then not going through with the engagent might actually be a good thing.

Our daughter can’t start off by being wronged even before getting married. If she gets used to being treated like that, it’ll only beco a habit, and she won’t be happy. That would keep us worrying too!"

Mrs. Leng sighed, "Do you think I don’t know that? But look at Jin Yichen—you’ve seen him yourself. He’s truly an exceptional young man, with great family background and character. From what we’ve observed, he’s always treated Xiao Ning well.

What’s more, that Lei Ming is already married. Now if Leng Ning doesn’t even go through with her engagent, where does that leave us? You rember the way Lei Ming’s mother looked down on us that day! You saw it too!

I keep wondering what it is about Xiao Ning. Why does she have such trouble finding a good match? Look at Li Si. They’re the sa age, yet everything has gone so smoothly for her."

Mrs. Leng felt sothing unusual in her heart.

Mr. Leng said earnestly, "Xiao Yan! You can’t think like that! What’s more important—saving face or our children’s happiness? I used to be stuck on this too, and you were the ones who talked sense into ! Now that it’s co to this, how have you changed?

And besides, what does Lei Ming’s mother even matter? We only care about our daughter’s happiness and well-being. The engagent isn’t just a tool for venting frustrations!"

"Alright, I know all this. I’m just caught up in my feelings for a mont, that’s all. Now that I know where she is, I can relax. Let’s just wash up and get so rest. We’ll sort it out tomorrow at Mochen’s place!"

Mrs. Leng rubbed her temples, the pain throbbing sharply.

Mr. Leng, knowing her temperant, didn’t say more. The two rested for the night, saying no more.

Early the next morning, they arrived at Li Si’s house.

When they arrived, Leng Mochen had just finished his morning workout and was eating breakfast. Seeing them co in, he set the newspaper aside.

"Son! Just starting breakfast, huh? Is Li Si still upstairs with Xiao Ning?" Mrs. Leng asked with a caring smile.

Seeing how well Leng Mochen looked, Mrs. Leng bead with satisfaction. This was nothing like the sickly state he’d been in years ago when he woke up—he was like an entirely new person.

It seed that getting married and starting a family had been good for him; at least soone was there to take care of him.

"Buding is drinking his milk, and Leng Ning is still asleep."

Mr. Leng made his way over to the sofa and sat down. Aunt Zhang, ever attentive, brought tea for the couple.

Soon after, Li Si ca downstairs holding Buding. Seeing the Leng parents had arrived, her eyes flickered with understanding.

"Dad, Mom, you’re here!"

"Yes! Buding must have just finished eating, right? Co here, let Grandma hold you!"

Buding, unafraid of strangers, let Mrs. Leng take him into her arms. Gazing at her with wide, bright eyes, he chirped, "Ah ah ah!"

"My darling little grandson! You’ve grown so much again!" Mrs. Leng exclaid, showering Buding with affection and kisses.

The little one giggled joyfully, his laughter contagious.

Mr. Leng stood up eagerly, wanting to hold the child himself.

Seeing Buding’s adorable face, his heart practically lted!

"By the way, Sisi, what ti did Xiao Ning arrive yesterday?"

"After nine o’clock! She said she called you!" Li Si’s one reply instantly silenced Mrs. Leng, leaving the words she’d wanted to say stuck in her throat.

"Ah! This child! So willful! She’s troubling you!" Mrs. Leng quickly composed herself.

Li Si and Leng Mochen exchanged knowing glances, their eyes silently acknowledging how well they understood Mrs. Leng.

Li Si sat down, spreading jam on a piece of bread. As another thought crossed her mind, she remarked lightly, "Oh, Buding has learned how to say ’Mama’!"

Mrs. Leng and Mr. Leng were both stunned with excitent, their faces lighting up in unison. "When did he learn? What a clever little one!"

Mrs. Leng couldn’t resist teasing Buding so more, "Grandson! Say ’Mama’ again for Grandma. Can you say ’Mama’?"

Perhaps Buding was in a particularly good mood today. Sure enough, he cooperated, babbling, "Mama! Mama!"

Mrs. Leng was so overwheld with joy that her eyes reddened. "Oh, Grandma loves you so much! For you, Grandma will live to a ripe old age and stick around to see you get married one day!"

Mr. Leng interjected with a laugh, "You’re thinking way too far ahead! This little one is still so young! Buding, let Grandpa hear you: can you say ’Papa’? How about ’Papa’?"

But Buding kept calling out "Mama!", obliviously repeating himself. "Good boy! Grandpa loves you too!" Mr. Leng chuckled.

Mrs. Leng, still elated, no longer showed any of the somber mood she’d carried when she first ca in: "It won’t be long now until his first birthday. He’ll be talking in full sentences by then! Talking early is great—Grandma will take you out to play every day!"

Mr. Leng couldn’t help but tease her: "You planning to take him along for your world travels too?"

Mrs. Leng shot him a glare. "If I go traveling, of course, I’m coming back! I’ll bring Buding lots and lots of gifts!"

Li Si slowly finished her breakfast, glancing occasionally at the sofa, where the bickering couple amused her to no end.

Just as she finished eating, Leng Ning ca downstairs with Xiao Guai. Seeing her parents there, she looked embarrassed. "Dad, Mom, how co you’re here so early?"

Mrs. Leng’s eyes widened as she scolded, "What do you an, early? If your father and I hadn’t co early, who knows if we’d have been able to catch you! Growing up, are you? Making up your own mind now, huh? Hurry up and eat! Finish your breakfast first, then you can tell what’s going on!"

After all, she couldn’t bear to let her daughter go hungry, being her own flesh and blood.

Leng Ning exchanged a playful tongue-out gesture with Li Si and quickly sat down to eat, knowing she’d soon face a family inquisition.

After breakfast, Mrs. Leng sat with Buding on her lap next to Mr. Leng.

Leng Ning, looking like a wronged puppy, sat across from them. Leng Mochen had gone upstairs to change, and Li Si, ever considerate, followed him, leaving the family so privacy—it was better for her to stay out of it.

"Alright, spill it! What exactly is going on? Leng Ning! If you can’t give a legitimate explanation, don’t bla for being harsh! You think an engagent is so sort of joke? Throwing a tantrum over a little fight?"

Mr. Leng lightly cleared his throat, "Let’s hear what the child has to say first before jumping to conclusions."

Mrs. Leng kept quiet, patting the curious Buding on her lap gently.

Leng Ning offered a bitter smile and recounted everything that had happened yesterday. In the end, she added, "Mom, I know I can be impulsive and immature at tis, but what he did yesterday really hurt !

I can’t just ignore sothing like this even before we’re engaged. I can’t pretend it never happened! If I just let it pass and continue like this, how can I ever be at peace with myself in the future?"

And with Yin Xuan caught in the middle—this ti, it seed like she had the upper hand, but what about in the future?

Would she spend every mont worrying about soone else?

After hearing her out, Mr. Leng let out an angry snort. "That boy! He’s got so nerve!"

They hadn’t expected things to turn out this way!

This was undoubtedly a setup for romantic rivalry!

Mr. Leng’s face darkened. "Xiao Ning! If this truly is your final decision, then Dad supports you! We can arrange the engagent any ti, but this kind of unclear nonsense won’t do!"

As a man, he understood n all too well! (To be continued. If you like this story, please visit Qidian (qidian) to vote for recomndations and monthly tickets. Your support is my greatest motivation. Mobile users, please visit m.qidian to read.)
