Back in the room, Mrs. Leng and Mr. Leng remained silent.

The events of today were too hard to accept. Leng Qiankai hesitated for quite a while before finally speaking: "Xiao Yan, you have to believe ! I admit I haven’t cared for you enough over the years. But I absolutely have never done anything to betray you!

Besides, you’ve seen Xiao Nie’s mom. She’s likely a painting thief and even seems ntally unstable! Do you really think I’d be so foolish to get involved with her?"

Leng Qiankai felt that he was even more wronged than Dou E.

If he truly had done sothing, he’d accept it. But he knew perfectly well he was innocent, yet he still had to do a paternity test to prove his innocence. It frustrated him endlessly.

Mrs. Leng cald down a bit after her conversation with her son.

Judging from Leng Qiankai’s current behavior, he didn’t seem to be lying.

So she also softened her tone slightly and said, "Qiankai! I can see your frustrations today! We’ve been together all these years, and I still understand you. But anyone who experienced such a situation today would naturally be angry; it’s impossible not to be!

Unless I didn’t care about you! Let’s just wait for the results before we say anything more, alright?"

Leng Qiankai was deeply moved and quickly nodded, "Alright! As long as you trust , that’s enough! Xiao Yan, I owe you an apology! Over all these years, the person I’ve wronged the most is you!

After this whole matter is resolved, let’s travel together overseas, alright? We’ll go to Europe, visit many cities! I’ll accompany you and take good care of you!"

He actually knew this had always been her wish. But previously, he had been too consud with work, and his attention was scattered, so he hadn’t kept her close in his heart. He always assud she was strong and could handle things on her own.

But seeing her strength mingled with tears today hurt him deeply.

No matter what, she was his wife, the woman who bore and raised his children. And now, in old age, she had to endure such turmoil.

He felt guilty.

If she hadn’t married him, she might have found soone better. Unfortunately, he hadn’t cherished her enough.

Mrs. Leng was slightly moved. This had been her wish in the past, always imagining that when her children grew up and had families of their own, there would be nothing left for her to worry about.

The two of them would travel together and enjoy their later years.

One day, she saw a newspaper report about an elderly couple in Beijing whose children had married and settled down. They sold their house and traveled abroad.

At the ti, she truly envied them. Money wasn’t an issue for her; she could go anywhere anyti she wanted. But traveling alone wouldn’t be any fun.

Taking the kids? Young people wouldn’t enjoy the sa things she did.

The fact that Leng Qiankai said these words today, regardless of his intentions, moved her deeply.

"Alright! Just the two of us, traveling to many places!" Mrs. Leng’s thoughts held so reservations, as all of this depended on the premise that the child surnad Nie wasn’t his son.

If the result showed he was, then everything he said today would only deepen her hatred.

"Qiankai, today’s incident has upset the Jin Family. We’ve wronged them!

Do you think we should et them tomorrow, apologize, and have a good discussion about Xiao Ning and Yichen’s situation?"

A trace of reluctance flashed across Leng Qiankai’s face. Lowering his head to Jin Jiachao was sothing he found extrely difficult.

But looking at Mrs. Leng’s expectant eyes and considering that today’s incident was indeed his fault, he couldn’t bring himself to refuse.

He had no choice but to nod, "Alright! Everything will be handled as you say!"

"Alright then! I’ll call the Jin Family later. By the way, what do you think about Xiao Ning?"

Mrs. Leng wanted to confirm this one last ti.

Leng Qiankai rubbed his fingers. "Let the kids decide. Whether they want to get engaged or married, it’s fine with !"

"Alright!" Just as she was speaking, the phone on the dressing table rang. She glanced at the number; it was foreign. Her brows furrowed as she picked it up. As she expected, it was her younger brother calling.

It went without saying that his wife had made the call.

anwhile, at the Jin Family household, the atmosphere wasn’t great.

When Jin Jiachao and Jin Yichen returned ho, they were t with probing questions from Su Ting and Lan Xue.

They knew the Jin father and son had gone to visit the Leng Family, and seeing them return with less-than-cheerful expressions, they assud the discussions hadn’t gone well, or had even fallen apart. Lan Xue was secretly delighted.

Su Ting also began questioning, "What happened? Brother-in-law, did their family demand unreasonable conditions? Let deal with them if they dare look down on us. Unacceptable!

You should’ve taken us with you today!" he said, then cast a reproachful look at Jin Jiachao.

"Stop with your streetwise nonsense! You’re a grown man. Can’t you act a little more composed? My family’s affairs are none of your concern!"

Jin Jiachao’s face turned stern, imdiately reprimanding him.

Su Ting glared at him indignantly, feeling dissatisfied, but didn’t dare retort given his brother-in-law’s deanor.

Lan Xue quickly tried to smooth things over. "Brother-in-law, you see, Su Ting only ant well. Jin Family’s status is so distinguished; we can’t let others look down on us!

Also, not that I, as the younger sister-in-law, am ddling, but with Yichen’s qualities, that young woman really isn’t a match for him! Imagine her family even having the nerve to act superior!"

"Shut up! This is Jin Family business; what does it have to do with you?" Jin Jiachao glared fiercely at Lan Xue, and his expression darkened as he glanced at Su Ting.

Su Ting made no rebuttal, which showed he likely agreed with Lan Xue’s sentints.

Lan Xue lowered her head awkwardly, muttering to herself that once her cousin entered the Jin Family, she’d see whether any of this would still concern her.

Jin Jiachao took a sip of tea, his brows furrowing slightly. "Su Ting, I have a question for you. I asked you to organize the financial reports from the past few years and submit them to . How’s the accounting coming along?"

Lan Xue’s face changed slightly. The issue with those accounts was massive, and she wasn’t sure if the falsified reports could pass muster.

Su Ting laughed nervously. "Brother-in-law! Why are you in such a rush? It’s all family here; I wouldn’t screw anything up! I’m working on it, and I’ll have her deliver them in a day or two!"

Jin Yichen, sitting nearby, sneered internally. Did they really think he and his father were fools?

At this mont, Jin Jiachao snorted. "Fine! Once she delivers them, I’ve already arranged a few staff mbers to assist with it. Although Liqun has stepped in, the foundation still needs ongoing managent.

The focus will need to shift. The other day, I had an idea to direct efforts toward helping trafficked children return ho."

This wasn’t a fleeting thought but rather sothing triggered by information he’d co across. If he could help more parents find their lost or trafficked children, it’d be a significant charitable endeavor.

Su Ting imdiately objected. "Brother-in-law! Why bother with this? The scope of this project will be enormous, and I’m afraid I can’t handle it!"

His current work was leisurely, holding the title of president while living a life of indulgence.

A project centered on helping trafficked children would greatly increase his workload. Even if delegated to his subordinates, he’d still feel burdened. So instinctively, he rejected it.
