In the second afternoon class break, Dong Jun suddenly walked over and said, “Xiuwen, Old Yang, the counselor wants you guys to go to the office.”

Yang Baishan asked, “What’s the matter?”

Dong Jun smirked, “Good news.”

Hearing Dong Jun say this, Yang Baishan felt relieved.

Xu Xiuwen and Yang Baishan got up to leave the classroom, and Dong Jun quickly said, “Wait, let call Feng Xuan.”

Feng Xuan was the female classmate who sang “Notes” during military training.

Although not as beautiful as Shen Minyao and Bai Yue’er, she was quite popular in the class and currently single.

After military training, during the class committee elections, she ran for the position of arts committee mber and was successfully elected.

Although Xu Xiuwen didn’t attend class often, he knew Feng Xuan was the arts committee mber, so hearing Dong Jun say he wanted to call Feng Xuan was surprising.

Could it be that the counselor was not calling them because they won first place in the football match?

Yang Baishan and Xu Xiuwen went together and asked, “Xiuwen, why do you think the counselor is calling us?”

“Once we’re there, we’ll find out,” Xu Xiuwen replied tersely.

Dong Jun had already inford Feng Xuan, who stood up and followed Dong Jun out of the classroom.

The classroom was on the sixth floor, while the counselor’s office was on the second floor.

The four arrived at Guan Congshan’s office, and Dong Jun knocked on the door.

“Co in,” ca Guan Congshan’s voice from inside.

Dong Jun pushed the door open, and the three followed him into the office.

Inside the office, there was only Guan Congshan.

He was still busy, and when the four entered, he was still writing sothing with his head down.

As the four approached, Guan Congshan put down his pen, turned around, and smiled.

Guan Congshan’s deanor was amiable, and his smile was very friendly, not creating any distance.

Guan Congshan’s smile reassured the four; it seed indeed to be good news.

Guan Congshan smiled and got up from his chair, then walked to the corner where the hot water dispenser was and poured four cups of water for them.

Xu Xiuwen was pleasantly surprised.

This treatnt was unbelievable; the counselor personally pouring water for students.

Apart from Xu Xiuwen, the other three were also excited, especially Yang Baishan, whose hands were shaking with excitent.

After the four took their disposable cups, Guan Congshan sat back down and began the conversation.

He first praised the match the day before yesterday, acknowledging the Managent and Engineering Departnt’s victory despite unfavorable conditions, attributing it to their strong perseverance.

However, he also warned the three of them that any future matches must not involve cheating again. Secretary Li let it slide this ti, but the situation could get really bad if she had caught on.

Yang Baishan and Dong Jun are both young and lack social experience. They don’t realize that the praise from Guan Congshan was just a sugar-coated bullet.

Xu Xiuwen remained calm, knowing that Guan Congshan must have sothing else to say, so he just kept his eyes down, waiting for what would co next.

Guan Congshan observed the expressions of the three people, but only Xu Xiuwen remained subdued, not showing much excitent.

He stared at Xu Xiuwen for a mont, then suddenly asked in a very gentle tone, “Xu Xiuwen, what do you think about the software information major in the Managent and Engineering Departnt?”

Xu Xiuwen paused for a mont, then replied, “It’s fairly average in terms of visibility.”

“And what do you think about the influence of our class?”

“I’d say it’s also fairly average, considering our class size is small.”

Guan Congshan suddenly laughed, “Xu Xiuwen, you don’t need to be so modest. Although our software information major was just added to the managent and engineering departnt this year, its influence is not small.”

Xu Xiuwen didn’t respond.

Guan Congshan had to continue, “I’ve talked to several other counselors, and they all highly appreciate you.”

Guan Congshan was trying to flatter him.

If it were Dong Jun and Yang Baishan, they would definitely be thrilled.

But Xu Xiuwen didn’t take the bait.

No matter how much flattery Guan Congshan piled on, Xu Xiuwen wouldn’t respond until he knew his true intentions.

Seeing Xu Xiuwen remain as calm as ever, Guan Congshan had to try another approach.

He suddenly turned to the three people beside him and asked, “Dong Jun, Yang Baishan, Feng Xuan, as the class monitor, Xu Xiuwen’s roommate, and a female student respectively, from your perspectives, what do you think of Xu Xiuwen in our Managent and Engineering Departnt?”

Dong Jun was the first to speak, saying, “Counselor, Xu Xiuwen is quite famous in the Managent and Engineering Departnt. Many people know him, and girls from other classes often co to our class to find him.”

Feng Xuan was the second to speak, “Counselor, Xu Xiuwen is the campus heartthrob. Almost every girl knows him. And during the last military training, he spoke up for those who were late, earning admiration from many. All the girls in our dormitory admire him, but he’s too aloof and doesn’t interact much with us.”

Yang Baishan, seeing Dong Jun and Feng Xuan have spoken, didn’t know what to say. Suddenly, he thought of the football match and said, “Counselor, as a mber of the football team, after yesterday’s match, everyone greatly admires him. Whenever he’s ntioned, it’s always with praise.”

Guan Congshan nodded satisfactorily, then looked at Xu Xiuwen and said with a smile, “Xu Xiuwen, you see, it’s not just who feels this way. Both male and female students in the departnt highly approve of you, which proves that you’re doing great and you’re the pride of our departnt.”

Xu Xiuwen couldn’t help but laugh at once.

Although it was just a mont, it couldn’t escape the notice of the four.

Guan Congshan asked in confusion, “Am I wrong?”

Xu Xiuwen hurriedly waved his hand and explained, “I’m not laughing at you, I was just surprised by your words. I can’t afford the title of pride of the departnt.”

Guan Congshan felt relieved at his words and continued with a smile, “Don’t be so modest. Aren’t you the pride of our departnt? Can I not know that? To be honest, although Dong Jun is the class monitor, I trust you the most. I know as long as you’re around, the class won’t be in big trouble.”

Xu Xiuwen felt nervous inside.

What’s wrong with the counselor today? Why does he keep praising like this?

If it were another guy, he would probably feel proud and agree with whatever the counselor said next.

Even he couldn’t help feeling a bit proud.

Guan Congshan, seeing Xu Xiuwen not falling for it, felt a bit frustrated.

He didn’t beat around the bush and said directly, “I’ll be straightforward. Isn’t next month New Year’s Day? The university wants our departnt to organize a welco party.”

“A welco party?” Xu Xiuwen exclaid in surprise.

Guan Congshan nodded and said, “I know you’re surprised. I just learned about this from Secretary Li. The last welco party held by the university was very successful. It’s said that many students from Jiangling also attended. The university leaders recently pointed out this matter in a eting, saying that since Jiangling beca an independent university, it hasn’t had its own welco party, which isn’t appropriate. So the university leaders hope Jiangling can also hold a party. So people agreed, and so opposed it. The final decision was to let a departnt try it first, to hold a departntal welco party. If it goes well, Jiangling will hold a university-wide welco party every year.”

Xu Xiuwen was so surprised he couldn’t say anything.
