"It looks like you've taken good care of the 9th Division in my absence." Izroth said as the 9th Division mbers around him cald down and made way for Niflheim.
"Well, I only deserve half of that credit. nerva has been handling most of the troubleso tasks while I keep an eye on things here." Niflheim replied light-heartedly.
"Where is nerva now?" Izroth inquired.
"She should be at the main command building representing the 9th Division. After yesterday's incident, the situation has been a bit hectic. I don't know much since the news surrounding it has been kept under heavy guard. But, the discussion taking place today at the main command building will probably give us a little more insight as to what's going on." Niflheim explained.
He then continued, "What I do know is that it probably has sothing to do with the explosion that took place in the Noble District. I've heard a few rumors here and there, but the most common one seems to be that soone important got injured and is in critical condition."
'An explosion in the Noble District? The timing is too good to be considered a random mishaps. Was it a targeted attack?'
It was not that long ago that the assault on the Night Lord's Crypt ended in success. After losing a Night Lord, Izroth would not be surprised if the skounae decided to launch a strike against Amaharpe in retaliation. However, if the skounae were the ones behind the explosion, Izroth believed that it would not make sense for Amaharpe to hide the matter.
After all, if the skounae were responsible, the higher ups of Amaharpe allied forces would have used it as fuel to garner more support from their troops and citizens.
'O'Tohelm and Tempest have the most to gain from an attack on the Noble District. If it is O'Tohelm, the attack can just be a way to divert attention away from the forces gathering in Danaharpe that are set to reclaim Terraharpe. On the other hand, if Tempest can make it look like O'Tohelm was behind the attack, it would help in further turning Amaharpe and its allies against them, leading O'Tohelm right into the arms of Tempest. Either way, whether it's directly or indirectly, sothing tells that the explosion has sothing to do with O'Tohelm.'
There was still also the fact that no one knew why O'Tohelm decided to attack and occupy Terraharpe. In the end, it was just an outpost city that safeguarded one of Amaharpe's mineral deposits. If O'Tohelm wanted to inflict damage to Amaharpe or obstruct them, there were several better ways than occupying Terraharpe.
'Mineral deposits... Is that really all Terraharpe was built to protect?'
There were too many unanswered questions. However, if Terraharpe was protecting sothing besides the mineral deposits that was unknown to the public, it would explain why O'Tohelm took this opportunity to invade the city.
'If Terraharpe is protecting sothing that we don't know about, its value must be worth O'Tohelm offending Amaharpe and its allied forces. I will have to get soone to look into it.'
"If it's a person in the Noble District, their status is far from normal. It seems that things will be chaotic for a while in Danaharpe." Izroth replied calmly.
He then continued, "We will wait to see what nerva has to say when she returns. Until then, order all the 9th Division mbers to return at once."
Niflheim nodded, "I'll get right on it. Since I told everyone not to stray too far from Danaharpe, it shouldn't take long for those online to get here. I'll also ssage those offline. While so of them may be busy, I'm sure they won't want to miss out on this."
Niflheim knew exactly why Izroth wanted to gather the mbers of the 9th Division as the two had already discussed it beforehand.
The mission into the kingdom Tempest, the fending off of Pzenium forces and the raid on the Night Lord's Crypt. It had not been a long ti since the 9th Division was first established, yet it had already gone through a lot of challenges.
Too many things had co up one after another; therefore, Izroth did not have ti to reward the mbers of the 9th Division for their performance. However, now that things had settled down, it was ti for Izroth to make good on his promise.
"While they're on the way, we can discuss the things I've missed while I was away." Izroth stated.
"It will take a while to explain everything. We can sit and talk in the main office." Niflheim said as he motioned his hand toward the office in the back.
Izroth turned to address the mbers of the 9th Division present, "Everyone, I know how hard you've all worked since joining the 9th Division. Today, I shall show you the fruits of your efforts. I have carefully thought about what rewards to give you all this ti around. I've also prepared sothing special for those of you who have shown an exemplary performance. Rest assured, you will not be disappointed."
Upon hearing Izroth's words, those of the 9th Division could not contain their excitent as a look of anticipation appeared in their eyes and wide smiles on their faces. The mont they had been waiting for was finally here!
Not long after Izroth spoke, he followed Niflheim into the office.
...
Approximately thirty minutes later...
"That's about the gist of everything you missed." Niflheim said as he released a heavy sigh.
"I see. It appears I've missed more than I thought." Izroth replied with furrowed brows.
'To think sothing like that happened while I was trapped in The Void. I wonder how Commander Aurie is holding up.'
For the past half hour, Niflheim had been bringing Izroth up to date on the things that happened ever since he jumped into the spatial rift deep in the heart of the Night Lord's Crypt.
Izroth learned many things; however, there were three big pieces of news.
The first major news was Nova, one of the Seven Heroes who fought against the eternal darkness of the shadahi, had been severely injured and was currently in a comatose state.
This news was not widely spread; therefore, it was not sothing just anyone knew about. However, since there were so people involved who were close to the 9th Division, Niflheim was about to find out about this piece of information.
'Even if a Night Lord showed up with their Spirix, it would not be easy to severely injure soone like Nova to that point that she ends up in an unconscious state. If the Night King showed up, it would add up. But, the Night King making an appearance is information that can't be hidden. Unless both Night Lord's appeared at the Night Lord's Crypt... No, even then, the High General wouldn't have just sat back and watched both Night Lords team up against Nova. Then, the second piece of news must be true... How troubleso.'
The second piece of major news Izroth obtained from Niflheim was related to the first. Soone high up had betrayed Nova. News of that person's identity had not been revealed due to the culprit being a high ranked individual; therefore, even Niflheim was unable to figure out who was behind it despite digging as far as he could. However, both Niflheim and nerva had co up with an unsettling suspect.
As for the last piece of big news, it was actually on the brighter side. Thanks to the efforts of the Commander of the General Support Unit, Seraphina, the ergence of a new Night Lord had been prevented.
'Commander Aurie actually got that woman who seems that she would rather die than do anything troubleso to make a move. If she managed to stop a new Night Lord from erging, she would have had to face quite a few skounae Dukes alone. There is even a chance she ca across the Night King. To be able to escape safely, she must be more powerful than I originally anticipated. Has she already stepped into the peak of the legendary realm?'
"At least there is so good news at the end of everything. As for Lady Nova, since I'm here, I should pay a visit. I might have a way for her to recover." Izroth said.
'If I can heal her, I should be able to get information about what really occurred back then. It might also provide so insight into a few other matters that may be related. Though a part of hopes that isn't the case.'
Niflheim brows rose in shock. However, a few seconds later, he could only release a small sigh as a helpless smile ford on his face.
"No, at this point, I suppose it would be stranger if you didn't have a way." Niflheim said as he shook his head.
Knock. Knock. Knock.
"Captain, Lieutenant—everyone has arrived." Revel's voice sounded from the other side of the door.
